Malamutesky or Huskamute? Meet Kaya! This sweet, silly girl is looking for a new home through no fault of her own. Her new family will be so lucky to have her. :) Kaya is, in her owner's words, "snuggly, playful, high-energy, beautiful, and very loving." She has a quirky, fun-loving, opinion-expressing temperament, and if you are a fan of huskies, malamutes, and similar breeds, you will absolutely melt when you meet her. Kaya is said to be all husky (the "wooly" variety), but those of us who've loved a malamute will recognize a goodly dose of malamute-itude here. :) This adventurous girl will do best in a home with a yard that has a secure physical fence; six feet tall would be best because she is most definitely an escape artist. Kaya has not lived with other pets or kids, but when she sees dogs or people, she behaves in a playful, friendly, sometimes excited way. She is housetrained and does not need to be crated (and would prefer not to be) -- she just needs a little time to settle into a new home before being left alone for an extended period of time, and then she should do fine. This gorgeous creature is about 4.5 years old. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is overall healthy. Her only possible health issue is urinary crystals. We are working with Kaya's foster and our vet to determine whether she needs to be on an Rx food or would do fine with a good-quality (but non-Rx) food. Kaya is looking for a new home because her loving owner has had some ongoing medical issues that have made it impossible for him to care for his beloved pup. She found her way to a temporary foster care provider a few months ago with the goal of reuniting her with her "dad" soon. Now, however, it has become apparent that her dad is going to need a much longer recovery than originally anticipated and he has determined that it is in Kaya's best interest to find a wonderful new person/family who will love her and care for her for the rest of her life. Zuri- German Shepard / Husky male, DOB 5-10-23 (Oct. 2025) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application. Zuri was surrendered to a Dog Trainer because his prior owners did not have the time for him. He's been doing great in the Prison Program that the Trainer coordinates. He's housetrained, crate trained, knows basic obedience commands, knows about grooming and husbandry care. Zuri's inmate trainer says he gets along great with the other dogs in the Prison Program and is an intelligent, typical young German Shepard energy. The opinion being he'd be a wonderful family dog. Zuri gets along well with the other dogs in the Prison Program. We do not know if he lived with children or cats. He has a great personality. He will enjoy an active lifestyle, hiking, running, playing. He is loving and will be a wonderful companion. He is just stunning with those blue eyes! Shay's adoption fee is $450 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption .
