Story
Malamutesky or Huskamute? Meet Kaya! This sweet, silly girl is looking for a new home through no fault of her own. Her new family will be so lucky to have her. :) Kaya is, in her owner's words, "snuggly, playful, high-energy, beautiful, and very loving." She has a quirky, fun-loving, opinion-expressing temperament, and if you are a fan of huskies, malamutes, and similar breeds, you will absolutely melt when you meet her. Kaya is said to be all husky (the "wooly" variety), but those of us who've loved a malamute will recognize a goodly dose of malamute-itude here. :) This adventurous girl will do best in a home with a yard that has a secure physical fence; six feet tall would be best because she is most definitely an escape artist. Kaya has not lived with other pets or kids, but when she sees dogs or people, she behaves in a playful, friendly, sometimes excited way. She is housetrained and does not need to be crated (and would prefer not to be) -- she just needs a little time to settle into a new home before being left alone for an extended period of time, and then she should do fine. This gorgeous creature is about 4.5 years old. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is overall healthy. Her only possible health issue is urinary crystals. We are working with Kaya's foster and our vet to determine whether she needs to be on an Rx food or would do fine with a good-quality (but non-Rx) food. Kaya is looking for a new home because her loving owner has had some ongoing medical issues that have made it impossible for him to care for his beloved pup. She found her way to a temporary foster care provider a few months ago with the goal of reuniting her with her "dad" soon. Now, however, it has become apparent that her dad is going to need a much longer recovery than originally anticipated and he has determined that it is in Kaya's best interest to find a wonderful new person/family who will love her and care for her for the rest of her life. We (FFOCAS) are helping Kaya's owner rehome her safely. Interested? Please get in touch via adoptapet or email: ffocas4pets@gmail.com. We'll ask you to fill out a rehoming application to help keep this process as safe as possible for all involved -- especially Kaya!

Story
Current Location: Frederick, MD This gorgeous one year old Husky mix weighs about 37 lbs and looks like she stepped right out of a winter fairytale. With her snowy white coat and stunning husky eyes, one blue and one brown, she turns heads everywhere she goes. Snow started out shy and unsure, but she has truly begun to blossom in her foster home. With patience and gentle introductions, her sweet and playful personality has started shining through. She has grown comfortable with the resident dogs and now enjoys being part of the pack. Her hesitation around new people or dogs comes from uncertainty, not aggression, and once she feels safe, she forms loyal and loving bonds. She would do best with adopters who understand the value of slow introductions and letting her settle at her own pace. Snow has shown no signs of resource guarding or dog aggression and continues to gain confidence every day. Like many husky mixes, Snow enjoys having room to run, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. A yard would be ideal for this beautiful girl, along with adopters ready for the full husky experience, including lots of fluff and shedding. She is active, curious, and happiest when she has both adventure and reassurance. Snow is still learning the world is a safe place, but she has already come so far. Underneath that stunning coat and those unforgettable eyes is a loving, fun girl who is ready to keep growing with the right family beside her. She is not only beautiful. She is becoming brave too, and that makes her even more special.

Story
Location: Henrico, VA Thunder is a loving, people focused dog who bonds quickly with adults. He enjoys walks, time outside, and quiet moments with his humans. He is sensitive, eager to connect, and happiest when the world is calm and predictable. Training and Behavior He is learning crate training and doing well with it. He aims to please and responds well to encouragement. Like many young dogs, he is still figuring out how to handle new environments and busy spaces. At his first big holiday gathering he found the noise, movement, and toddlers a bit overwhelming. Social Life Thunder thrives with adults and older teens. He is not comfortable with young children, whose fast movements and unpredictable energy are stressful for him. He settles quickly once he feels safe and enjoys quiet companionship. Best Home Fit Thunder will shine in a calm home with adults or older teens. He will do best with structure, clear guidance, and a peaceful environment. In return you will get a loyal companion with a big heart and a gentle soul. He is ready for a home where he can feel secure, understood, and loved.
