To learn more about Angus, please reachout to: kristin.calkins@lostdogrescue.org Meet Angus, a charming 1-year-old Jack Russell Terrier with a heart full of love and a nose for adventure! Angus is as sweet and affectionate as they come. He loves to explore and go on long walks with his dog foster sister, but he also loves a slow sniffy walk so he can explore the world around him. He also loves to say hi to anyone and everyone (2 & 4 legs) on his walks. He's great in public places and loves a trip to a dog friendly store or to accompany you for a dinner on the patio. Angus would thrive in a home with a playful dog sibling, since he loves to play, but would do well on his own. When it's time to wind down, he's your perfect snuggle buddy, always ready for some cozy cuddles. He's an excellent car companion and sleeps soundly through the night. No need to crate this sweet guy, furniture and shoes are safe around him. He's also got a great track record in his foster home for doing his business outside! If you're looking for a loving, loyal companion who will bring joy and enthusiasm into your life, Angus might be perfect for you!

Story
Meet Tulip. This adorable little pup was found wandering as a stray and turned into a county shelter in York, SC. That would turn out to be her lucky day. On intake, she caught the eye of a vet tech at the shelter, Sonya, who contacted Worthy Dog on Tulip’s behalf and offered to foster her. We said yes and within days, lucky little Tulip was sprung from the shelter and fortunate to get a wonderful foster home. Sonia is fostering Tulip with her pack of 4 pups and two cats, and the pups are mostly smaller in size with a broad range of ages and energy levels. Tulip easily integrated into her pack and immediately wanted all the dogs and cats to be her friends. Some dogs took a bit longer than others to accept her, but she’s officially in now and has shown great doggie skills. She plays very submissively and respectfully, and while we think Tulip is confident enough to be fine as an only dog, she would love a playmate. Sonya describes Tulip as a very sweet, social, and gentle pup. She has wonderful people skills and loves every person and dog she meets. We think she’d be great with kids and would see them as playmates and cuddle buddies. She has no issues being left home alone and has learned how to entertain herself. She will happily take a toy to her dog bed and play with it — Nyla Bones and chew toys will keep her distracted for hours. But if you call her, she will come running to play or snuggle with you. She’s a very nice balance of independent and affectionate. Tulip has spent the past month learning the rules of home life. She is crate-trained and goes right in when told, and she's getting meals in her crate to make it a positive place. She is mostly housetrained but needs to go out first thing in the morning. She tries very hard to alert people when she needs to go outside. She does pretty well on leash walks but will still pull, so a little practice is in order. We think Tulip would fit best in a moderately active home and would love a playmate. She needs her daily walks and playtime and has typical adolescent energy with moments of energy spikes, but overall she is a pretty chill little girl. This adorable pup will be coming to N. VA in early September. Apply today to learn more and welcome her home.    BREED ESTIMATE: Jack Russell Terrier Mix GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  13 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~  10-12 months COAT TYPE: Short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/spayed/microchipped LOCATION:  York, SC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie ready to play! SAM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Sam      Best Guess for Breed: Jack Russell terrier and chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of April 2024       SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  23 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise   Currently Living at:  DC area foster   Special adoption considerations: Sam is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Sam needs to go to a home with a resident dog to help him gain more confidence. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Sam is Looking For:   His forever home! This cutie, through no fault of his own, landed in the shelter. He's looking forward to his new chapter, eagerly awaiting all the sniffy walks he will get with his new humans, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. He's out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog, knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under his own roof, and that's right at the top of his wish list. Right now, he's shy and unsure in new environments, so he needs extra patient and loving adopters who will help him become more confident in new places, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog! In exchange, he offers all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's stockpiling at the shelter and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see Sam trotting by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Sam is adjusting very well and becoming more confident every day. He is still shy when outside and will stay close on walks while he frequently looks at you. He understands going to the bathroom outside but has his favorite places to go - #1 is the dog park!   Inside he is more bouncy and playful. He does have a rougher play style but hasn’t been destructive with anything. He gets along well with the resident dog and they play a lot. I would describe his energy level as medium+. He gets nervous when he sees big dogs and wants to observe them before greeting.   He is learning house manners, basic commands, and takes gentle corrections well. He does very well in the crate and will settle when asked. He loves giving and receiving affection and has the potential to be a snuggler given time and patience so he can fully relax in his environment.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Jake is a spirited and loving 3-year-old rescue with a heart full of love and energy. He absolutely loves to run, play, and explore. Jake is a quick learner, responding well to training, making him an ideal companion for someone willing to invest a little time and patience. While Jake is protective and has shown some aggression in certain situations, he has the potential to thrive with the right guidance and environment. He's neutered and in good health. Unfortunately, due to a conflict with our Pitbull, Jake’s current living situation is unsafe, and we urgently need to find him a new home where he can be happy and secure. We have three weeks to find Jake the perfect match. If you're looking for a loyal, energetic, and trainable companion, please reach out. Jake deserves a chance to live his best life with a family that can give him the love and attention he needs.
