Meet Irene! This sweet little Maltese is a 2-year-old female that weighs 6.5 lbs. We rescued her last October from a puppy mill in Busan, South Korea, which our team shut down. Learn more about her rescue mission by watching this video. Irene will need a patient adopter who is willing to give her a steady routine and time to open up and discover her true personality! Adopting a puppy mill survivor like Irene has unique rewards and responsibilities. She has shown incredible resilience and a bright spirit, but dogs from these backgrounds often require patience and time to decompress and adjust to a loving home. She is working on potty training and will need time and training to help her accomplish this. While Irene is currently healthy and has received excellent veterinary care, potential adopters should be aware of the genetic predispositions common in dogs from such environments, including luxating patellas, heart conditions, dental issues, etc., that could arise later in life, and prepare both financially and mentally to help Irene live every day happy life. Hello, I am a pretty female Maltese mix named Paloma. I’m about 4 years old, weigh 24 lbs and I was living with my elderly owner when she could no longer care for me and then surrendered me to 4 Little Paws Rescue. I’m an easygoing calm girl, shy when I first meet people, and friendly with cats and dogs. I’m not very playful with the other dogs in my foster home, playing for a little bit but then I lay down and watch the other dogs play. I love doggie toys and enjoy playing with them in my doggie bed. Overall, I’m more of a people dog, sweet and affectionate, love pets and tummy rubs, and positive feedback from my humans. When we go for a walk, I’ll look up for praise that I am doing a good job. I rarely bark and I’m well-behaved, crate-trained, and housebroken. My foster mom says I am the sweetest, most gentle little lady, calm and easy and some lucky family is going to be very happy to have me!
