Story
Meet Maui, a 5 year old Bichon/Maltese mix. He came to Castle of Dreams from a local animal shelter when he was found as a stray in Rahway. Maui is looking for an adult single home with low activity. He is in need of a patient, experienced dog owner that will help him to feel secure again after being anxious in his previous shelter experience. He is a little on the nervous side but once he gets to know you, he is a great and friendly dog. Maui does have some fear aggression so if he feels threatened, he will bite as his way of telling you he is afraid. As with many rescue dogs, Maui is not a fan of thunderstorms, fireworks or loud noises that startle him. Maui loves to go for rides in the car and will be by your side as much as he can. He also enjoys sitting by the window and watching the world. Maui prefers to be the only pet in the home as he loves all the attention...and deserves it too! He is very friendly, housebroken and listens well. He just needs some TLC from a patient owner who is willing to work with him on his fears to help him feel loved and safe. Maui is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He will make a great lifelong companion if given a chance to feel comfortable, loved and not threatened.  If you are interested in adopting from Castle-of-Dreams Animal Rescue, please complete an Adoption Application We are a 100% volunteer organization and have several opportunities available in fundraising, fostering, dog care, events and lots more!  To join our winning team, please complete a Volunteer Application A healthy pet is a happy pet! Story
Meet Milo! Rescued after an extremely rough start, Milo is doing very well in his foster home. According to his foster mom, he has put on 3 lbs, and is starting to play and really show his adorable personality. He is still eating multiple small meals a day to help him gain weight and he continues to get stronger every day. He will have an appointment at the end of the month with our surgeon to recheck his leg. Interested in adopting Milo? Story
Amazing loving puppy . She is very good and doing pee on the pad poop not so much . She loves to go outside but we recently moved and there were too many big animals . She is will be around 2 in November . She is up to date with shots . I do not have any papers on her when I moved they were lost but she was bought from someone’s home . She needs help with some training and barking like normal small dogs . She loves to cuddle and be held and sleep with you at night . Her hair can be short or long in the summer I cut it a lot more . She is good with people , kids and dogs . She has never been around a cat, she has never shown any aggression. Unfortunately I had to move and due to certain circumstances and they do not allow any pets here . I would love her to go to a great home.

Story
Meet Bella and Chanel, a gentle bonded pair who are searching for a loving and home. Bella: 13 year old Maltese Mix. Bella is a sweet, completely blind senior girl who navigates life with a brave and tender heart, finding her confidence through the presence of Chanel. Bella may not be able to see the world around her, but she feels every bit of it especially the love she receives from Chanel and her people. Bella is calm and deeply affectionate. She loves nothing more than curling up on the couch for a long snuggle session, and she'll happily nestle right on top of Chanel while they wait for their person to come home. She enjoys short walks outside, but once she's done her business, she's ready to be scooped up and held close. For Bella, the world feels safer in someone's snuggly arms. Chanel: 15 year old Poodle. Chanel is the quiet guardian of her little family. She is mellow and easygoing. She loves being outside at her own comfortable pace and greets her favorite humans with the sweetest howls of excitement when they return. Chanel will wait faithfully by the door until you're home. She is also a gentle, watchful soul who has made it her life's purpose to look after her best friend, Bella. Despite living with arthritis, she moves through each day with grace. She's always keeping one eye on her bonded companion. The moment Bella barks or seems unsure, Chanel goes right to her side, offering the kind of calm reassurance that only the deepest love can give. Chanel is definitely the perfect loving family dog, she prefers settling into her bed only when the whole family is together. Chanel would thrive in a patient, loving home where she can continue to be Bella's anchor, and where someone will be hers in return. Bella and Chanel are both good with cats and are trained to do their business both outdoors and indoors with the use of pee pee pads. If you’re looking for gentle companions who are always ready to warm up your day, Bella and Chanel are waiting to meet you. Please fill out and submit an adoption application today. Story
Dahlia - 9 months & 11lbs (as of 8/17), Terrier Mix, Spayed Estimated full grown size around 13lbs  This puppy is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Her foster says: "Dahlia is an excellent communicator, despite rarely making a sound! She lets you know when she is uncomfortable with something, anxious during a walk, or when she needs a break. Dahlia is learning that the outside world is full of all sorts of noises, smells, and people. She enjoys walking in the rain, going to the park early in the morning or late at night, and cuddling during movie nights. Dahlia prefers sticking to a set schedule for her walks (and route), feeding times, and human companionship. She is a dog that would do best in a quiet home that has no children as she can be fearful of loud sudden noises in the home." Level of dog ownership experience required:INTERMEDIATE – As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy level:Lower – Pretty chill indoors and won’t demand endless amounts of stimulation and exercise but still needs a few walks a day (10-30 min each) for potty breaks and to stretch their legs. Will probably be more like medium active out of the city in a calm area.  Tolerance to the city:Adjusting to the city – Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well in quiet areas and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue). Would prefer a home in a calmer part of the city or the suburbs. Potty trained:Yes – Few or no accidents Social with dogs:Still working on it – Shows no interest in other dogs, avoids dogs if they get too close. Needs more socialization training. Comfort Level With strangers:Wallflower – Very shy with new people and takes a while to warm up. Afraid when unfamiliar people try to say hi on the street, hides or shrinks back when new people visit the home. Social with children:  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Not a home with kids– some puppies enjoy interacting with children, others get easily overwhelmed by their energy and attention. Regardless, most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Social with cats:Yes. Most puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play: Past this stage– Little to no interest in chewing on stuff. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime Separation anxiety:Adjusting – Might cry for a few minutes when you first leave the house but settles pretty quickly and has no problem being left alone otherwise. Leash manners:Getting the hang of it – Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in their life but figuring it out. Not much pulling, frequently gets startled and tries to either dart away, hold steady, or weave in and out of walking path. Crate trained:Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range. She will pee on clothing left on the floor and the bath mat. Cuddle Bug Level:High – Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time, loves to lay around in bed, and is happy to be held. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. (For dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age.) How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses.  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2819719##
