Story

Sophie is a tiny 15 year old Maltese Poodle mix weighing just under 8 pounds. She is polite gentle and very sweet. Her favorite place is simply near her person. She coexists well with other small dogs and has an easygoing presence. Sophie came into rescue when her owner could no longer care for her. It took her a few days to adjust but she is settling in beautifully and showing her soft affectionate personality. Her eyesight is good and her hearing is still fairly strong for her age. She does have a heart murmur but is not on any medication at this time. She doesn't love being left alone so we are hoping to find her a calm quiet home where someone is around most of the time. Sophie is a lovely little soul looking for comfort companionship and a soft place to land for her golden years. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. You must begin our adoption process by applying to adopt on clawsadopt.org. Please do NOT inquire via Petfinder, social media messengers or in our comments. We will only be looking at applications! 2. Please make sure you fill out our adoption application COMPLETELY. We may not be able to respond to applications that are not completely filled out with the proper information. Side note: on our applications, the more details you provide = the better. 3. We prefer applicants live within 60 miles of Closter, NJ. (Applicants who live farther away may still apply. ✅️Currently located in South Korea✅️ Meet Noah🤍 💙 Noah’s Account: @aki.noa.sushi 1. Health • Neutering/Spaying: Completed • Other: Microchipped; had bladder stone surgery and molar extraction. Fully blind in one eye due to cataracts. Experiences coughing when temperatures drop, requiring steroid medication if coughing occurs. Has partial hearing loss. All teeth except molars have been extracted, so he cannot eat hard treats. 2. Rescue Story • Noah was rescued from a breeding facility alongside Aji and Aki before Adogs officially formed. He was adopted, but after his adopter passed away suddenly in September 2024, Noah returned to Adogs. He is looking for a family to help him overcome his grief and begin a new chapter of life. 3. Personality & Habits • With People: Very affectionate and sweet, loves both strangers and familiar people, and often approaches first asking for pets. • With Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs, both familiar and new friends. May show cute jealousy if another dog gets attention. • Separation Anxiety: Calm when left with Aki, though Aki has separation anxiety that affects Noah. If left with another dog or person, he waits quietly. • House Training: Fully pee pad trained (100% accuracy), though he prefers pooping outdoors. He tends to pee near the edge of the pad, so surrounding it with a fence or holder is helpful. • Hygiene/Grooming: Very calm and well-behaved during baths, drying, and brushing. • Walking on Leash: Walks well on a leash without pulling and keeps pace nicely. 4. Special Notes • May bark briefly when a stranger enters the room for the first time. In the evenings, he may bark for 5 minutes normally, or 20–30 minutes if he has extra energy. • Has a strong food drive and eats quickly when excited for meals, so feeding slowly and calmly is recommended.

7 months beige and we gave her sister away to a lovely girl and she’s great with dogs but a little scared of big dogs but eventually adjusted. I have a white pit and plays and interacts well with her. Semi potty trained still needs practice but she’s 50% there. She’s also very loving and clingy definitely will be great for you!

Story

Ryan is a 1.5 year old Maltese that I brought home last year. It pains me, but my work schedule and other demands on my life have brought me to the place where it seems I am unable to give Ryan the level of care he needs and deserves. He is a very good dog and is house trained. When he is home with me I take him out about 4-5 times a day. He is very playful with other dogs but does exhibit some leash aggression in that he wants to say hi to every dog he sees but if he can’t because of the leash, he’ll start barking and lashing out. He’s been slowly improving on this though.He does have some level of separation anxiety where as soon as you leave him alone in the house you’ll hear him bark but after a few minutes he calms down and can stay alone.Other than those two things, he’s usually very calm around the house and sleeps most of the time. However, he does love to play and loves dog parks and going with you wherever you go. Happy to discuss any questions over a chat!

Olaf came from a heartbreaking hoarding and neglect case after his owners were arrested, but you would never know it from his gentle, loving personality. This adorable little guy loves giving hugs, snuggling close, and soaking up attention from his people. He’s great with small and medium-sized dogs and enjoys playing, although he likes to act like a tough guy when the bigger dogs are around!Olaf is crate trained and is doing a great job learning his housebreaking skills despite the difficult start he had in life. With a little patience and consistency, he’ll continue to thrive.If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will happily curl up in your lap after a day of fun, then Olaf is ready to do just that. Check out this patriotic little guy! Meet Baxter! If you're searching for a loving new family member, your search ends here. Baxter is a 12-pound, 2-3-year-old Malti Tzu (a Maltese and Shih Tzu mix), and he embodies all the best, sweetest traits of both breeds. Ater a few days in his foster home, Baxter found his voice. Yes he has that Maltese trait. For this reason, Baxter is not suited to apartment life. Baxter was found as a stray in Nashville after someone suspected he’d been hit by a car and brought him to the emergency vet. Thankfully, there were no broken bones, but he is currently healing from a sore back leg. (He’ll have X-rays taken when he’s neutered on 7/7.) We wish Baxter could tell us what happened and how he ended up on his own—it’s hard to imagine any family not wanting such a sweet boy. Baxter is both a people-lover and a dog’s dog! He loves to play and would thrive with a young, active canine companion in his forever home. He adores people and always wants to be by your side—be prepared to never be alone again! His sore leg doesn’t slow him down; he still jumps on the furniture to be with his foster mom whenever steps are available. This young gentleman walks well on a leash and is fully housebroken. He loves going on adventures and rides like a champ in the car—he even prefers the back seat, though he’s happy on a passenger’s lap, too! Baxter is the perfect companion for trips to the park or visits to dog-friendly restaurants and shops.
