My name is GRUMPY and I’m a 5y M Tan Shih Tzu X. I’m 15 lbs of PURE SWEET GROUCHINESS. I was brought to a police precinct in the Bronx, NY and luckily the rescue was able to save me before I was taken to the shelter. I was affectionately named Grumpy because I was not immediately warm and fuzzy with the foster mom and growled at her a lot… but once I got to know her and she went slow with me to introduce me to her household… I trusted her and she can do anything to me now. I’m a little guarded with strangers and rightly so because I was pretty much neglected by my previous family. I’m housebroken and walk well on the leash and I can be picked up and handled as long as you slow. I’m a nice guy but nervous at first so I need someone who is going to be patient and believe in me and give me the TLC I need. I’m good with small dogs but am afraid of big dogs and will snap/snark at them. I’ve not met any cats so not sure about them and best if I don’t go with any young kids. I prefer to be the ONLY DOG so I can get all the attention that I never got in my previous home. My only other vice is that it’s not easy to groom me.. I’m nervous around objects coming to my face so I need to go to an experienced groomer but I was fine being handled by the vet. I need a QUIET ADULT ONLY home with someone or a couple that are home a lot and have had previous experience with a “grumpy” dog and are willing to give me the TLC and believe in me to make me the SWEET AND LOVING dog I know I can be!! Meet Shapo! Shapo is an 8 pound maltese and is 3 to 4 years old. Shapo is really such a great little guy to be around! He is very sweet and kind natured. Shapo is crate trained and potty trained and does well on a leash. He has been great with all of the other doggy friends he has met. Shapo loves to hang out with the other dogs but is also perfectly content hanging out on the couch or bed with his humans. Shap0 had a dental cleaning and bloodwork at his recent vet visit. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. I am looking for a new home for my 9 year old dog Biscuit. I love him but my home is not the best place for him. For the first 4 years of us having him, we lived in a house so his barking wasnt as bad as it is. He also spent more time alone as people were often at school or work but since we moved to an apartment 4 years ago and have mostly been home his possessive behavior and barking as gotten increasingly worse. At this point I often will wear headphones around the house. He also wont allow my mom to enter my room or speak to me without excessively barking or trying to attack her. We also cant leave our home without him howling and barking the entire time (disrupting neighbors). I know this is rare to find and a lot to ask but Im looking for someone who will not just take him, Im looking for someone who will allow me and my family to know how hes doing and possibly even visit 1-2 times a year. (P.S. Im also unemployed and can't afford the kind of training and medication he needs)
