Story
Meet Tina! She is a 1 year old rat terrier/heeler mix rescued with her mom, sister and younger siblings after being dumped in a bad area of town. She is very submissive and a little shy at first but wants she warms up she loves belly rubs! She get's that from her mom! She is great with other dogs of all sizes but prefers medium and small dogs. The bigger dogs make her a little nervous. She is working on leash walking, potty training and crate training. She is currently 23 lbs with long legs. She is just a sweet girl looking for love and a place to lounge around! Tammy is available for adoption with Saving Grace Dog Rescue of San Antonio. The adoption fee is $195 local or $395 out of state with transport. An adoption application and adoption contract are all required. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations appropriate for their age, microchipped, and wormed for internal and external parasites. If you would like more information please email us at sgdrsa@outlook.com. An adoption application can be completed online at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SGDR/Dog Please note that visual breed identification in rescue dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only GUESSING at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Pablo is a sweet, friendly, loving dog. He just wants to hang out with his people. Loves to cuddle. Because he’s in his teens now he doesn’t need long walks but does love to go outside. He misses his people when they’re gone and can bark when left alone. A real sweetheart.

Story
Dapper 12-year-old Jax is an active and smart boy who will be a wonderful companion for the right person! Jax is a 25 lb. rat terrier. He is in excellent physical condition after beating cancer (a mast cell tumor on his belly)! Jax loves sunning himself, walking, jogging, playing with stuffed animals, and playing fetch. He gets along well with small dogs and calm large dogs. He has been very nice to his foster siblings but can be protective of his space and might correct another dog who touches or steps on him with a yowl and small snap. He is protective of his body and needs to wear a muzzle to be physically handled. Jax would be good as a single dog or with a respectful, smaller dog. Jax should not live with cats or other small pets. He also has a bit of anxiety, which has been greatly reduced with a stable schedule and increased exercise, but if unchecked can spiral into bouts of barking. Jax barks at the door when he needs to go out and is perfectly house-trained. He can be trusted to be free indoors and doesn't get into the trash, counter-surf, or chew items. Jax may seem tough, but he has a soft, loving heart for someone willing to take the time to understand him. Story
Sweet-as-chocolate Nixie is ready for her forever home! Originally from Apple Valley, CA, 8-year-old Nixie was rescued from potential euthanasia and traveled to WA for foster. Nixie might look a bit bulky, but she is a rattie-mix and only 15 lbs. She's easy to pick up and handle, too (because she is so calm and nice)! Nixie is relaxed and attentive to her people. She loves to cuddle with her humans but isn't overly clingy. Nixie gets along great with other dogs. Although she isn't very playful, she likes to sit with other dogs and avoids confrontation by being fairly passive. Nixie has also met cats and didn't display any aggression,  but it would be best to introduce her to small animals with caution. Nixie hasn't met any children, but would likely do well with responsible older children.   Nixie is house-trained and does great being leashed to go potty outside. She would do best on a regular routine since sometimes she might not give signals that she needs to go outside. Nixie is the total package: well-behaved, human-loving, adorable, and ready for her next family! Story
Meet the sweet little bug, Beetle! This 10 lb., 8-year-old rat terrier mix is looking for a home full of soft blankets and someone to snuggle with. You’ll fall in love with his crooked little smile and the way he wiggles into your armpit for cuddles. He greets his people with playful bows and cheerful tippy-taps, and his bright, enthusiastic personality comes with just the right amount of sass. Beetle adores people and happily trots up to everyone for hugs. At home, he follows his foster mom from room to room like a loyal, happy shadow. Everyone who meets him is instantly charmed. Beetle came to us from a California shelter, and we suspect he was an owner surrender -- he’s far too people-oriented to have been a long-term stray. In his past life, his jaw was broken and repaired with a plate. When he was rescued, the plate had failed, and he needed extensive surgery to remove it, along with screws and 21 teeth. He has recovered beautifully and is now healthy, energetic, and proud of his endearing snaggletooth and lopsided grin. Beetle gets along well with other dogs and cats. He’s affectionate, confident, and easy-going, and he enjoys walks without needing a lot of exercise. He’s crate trained (though he’d prefer your bed) and reliably pees outside. He usually poops outside too, though he sometimes mistakes rugs for potty pads—a habit that improves with prompt trips outdoors after meals. He’s missing part of one side of his jaw, but his vet says he should do perfectly well. Still, we recommend avoiding rough play with small children or rambunctious dogs. He’ll likely need soft food and ongoing dental care for his remaining teeth. Beetle can be mildly reactive on leash because he wants to meet everyone, and he shows a bit of separation anxiety, though it’s limited to brief crying. He also has a small inguinal hernia the vet says is not causing him pain.  See more photos of this special guy at  https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/beetle .
