This girl just wants to have fun! She is a bit higher energy and would love room to move and a friend that matches her energy (or someone willing to play with her)! She currently lives with 4 other dogs, a cat, chickens, pigs, budgies, and a bearded dragon. She’d do best with a dog savvy cat and further training with other animals cause she will want to play with them. She’s not what I’d call a lapdog, but loves to please, and is affectionate. Definitely trainable and pretty darn smart. She is a follower and will take behavioral cues from the other dogs she lives with. She’s working on not jumping up and not being reactive to people/noises at home (she’s not reactive on walks or in public). She goes into her crate with treats. Walks well on a leash and we’re working on gaining confidence on walks. She’s young, spunky and worth it! Dapper 12-year-old Jax is an active and smart boy who will be a wonderful companion for the right person! Jax is a 25 lb. rat terrier. He is in excellent physical condition after beating cancer (a mast cell tumor on his belly)! Jax loves sunning himself, walking, jogging, playing with stuffed animals, and playing fetch. He gets along well with small dogs and calm large dogs. He has been very nice to his foster siblings but can be protective of his space and might correct another dog who touches or steps on him with a yowl and small snap. He is protective of his body and needs to wear a muzzle to be physically handled. Jax would be good as a single dog or with a respectful, smaller dog. Jax should not live with cats or other small pets. He also has a bit of anxiety, which has been greatly reduced with a stable schedule and increased exercise, but if unchecked can spiral into bouts of barking. Jax barks at the door when he needs to go out and is perfectly house-trained. He can be trusted to be free indoors and doesn't get into the trash, counter-surf, or chew items. Jax may seem tough, but he has a soft, loving heart for someone willing to take the time to understand him. Chico is currently in a rescue in Oklahoma. We are looking for a home in a state where people treat their animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport near one of the cities listed at the bottom. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Chico is a male, possibly a Rat Terrier mix, and is around 4 months old (February 12th). -He weighs 10 pounds. -Was being given away, owner could not take care of him and his brother any longer -Previous owner said the mom is a rat terrier, unsure of father -Does well in a crate -Energetic, full of life.
