Animal Services has new operating hours! We will now be open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and closed Friday through Sunday. In addition to these hours, we will be available after-hours, including Fridays and Saturdays, by appointment. Along with our new hours, all Wednesday adoptions are now by appointment only to allow our staff more time to prepare for Thursday vax-shacks and surgery days.Adoption fees for dogs are $100.00 (unless otherwise noted), which includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, and worming. Then you must meet our guy Gus.  He is truly a gentle dog in a big body.   He absolutely loves people and has shown no aggression to other dogs at the shelter.  He is definitely a smart dog and loves playing in the play yard with the volunteers.  Gus appears to know his basic commands and we think he is around 2 years old.  Gus is just a big teddy bear who would thrive in a home, and we hope he gets one soon.  Gus does have the beginning of heartworms, but no damage yet to his heart and lungs.   Trinity GAP will pay for his heartworm treatment as soon as he gets a home or foster.   He weighs 67 pounds and is waiting for someone to come rescue him.  If you would like to meet Gus, email Jesica King at 214-709-3332 or hamiltonjesica@hotmail.comMay 9, 2024, 5:16 pm

Needing to rehome my German rottie, my work schedule changed and I’m starting to have to work a lot more doubles at my clinic and I’ll be gone for long hours every day, it’s not fair to him to be kenneled for so long. He is a year old and a sweet good boy, he is a rottie and therefore protective, would perfer him to go to someone who has experience with his breed. he is 86lbs but his vet expects him to easily sit at 90-100 without being overweight as he still needs to fill out and won’t be done doing so till about 2years. I will require his adopters to have a fenced yard. He is good with other dogs unless you show that dog makes you uncomfortable then he gets protective, he will actually do that with anyone, if you are welcoming so is he but if he feels like your unhappy or afraid or uncomfortable with someone or something he likes to lean on you and watch whatever it is very intensely and if approached he will growl or bark. He knows a lot of comands and is a quick learner.

Velvet is a sweetheart and loves ALL people. I've never seen her turn away a snuggle or good pat. She likes cats, just make sure she isn't playing too rough and staying out of the litter box. Dogs are case by case, it never used to be an problem & am unsure why there was a switch. It seemed to be with females only but still would test if you have any other dogs. She may too rambunctious for younger children but older children should be fine! Velvet has no issues going to the backyard and doing her business. However, she does get nervous going out front/getting in the car. We would love nothing more for her to find a family who can give us updates on how she's doing and fits into your lifestyle without any added anxiety. Someone or someones who are willing to put in the extra time & effort to make her goofy personality shine. There's nothing more I would love but to make sure she finds a home that she feels safe and comfortable in. She's a great dog and has so much love to give.
