Story
Meet Gobi, a truly remarkable dog with a heart every bit as big as his journey. Recently adjusting to life without sight, Gobi has shown everyone around him just how resilient, adaptable, and loving he can be. While becoming blind has been a major change, Gobi approaches each day with determination, trust, and plenty of tail wags. He’s learning to navigate the world through sound, scent, and the voices of the people he loves—and he’s making incredible progress every day.One of Gobi’s greatest strengths is how much he loves people. This sweet boy greets familiar friends with full-body wiggles, happy `tippy taps,` and plenty of affection. He knows how to sit, takes treats gently, enjoys leisurely walks, and has learned several special verbal cues to help him navigate his surroundings. Once he gets to know you, Gobi’s playful, affectionate personality shines through, and he’s even been known to hand out kisses to new friends after a proper introduction. Staff members have watched his confidence blossom as he’s explored new spaces, met unfamiliar people, and even participated in playgroups with other dogs.Gobi will thrive with an adopter who is willing to continue using the simple verbal cues that help him understand his environment and who can provide patience as he continues adjusting to his new normal. In return, you`ll gain an incredibly loyal companion who trusts deeply, loves wholeheartedly, and proves every day that obstacles don`t define him. Gobi`s story isn`t about what he`s lost—it`s about how bravely he`s embraced what comes next. If you`re looking for a special dog with a resilient spirit and endless love to give, Gobi is ready to find his forever home.He is a 8y old, Male, Rottweiler. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations and preventions. Come and visit him today! He is eligible for a 3-day trial adoption through our Foster First program. This program gives you and our pets time to ensure it`s a great match before finalizing the adoption. Story
Nova was born on 01/10/2026 from an accidental litter. Her family reached out to Legacy Humane Society for assistance in finding her and her sister new homes. Their Mom has been spayed, and the pups are also spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and on heartworm prevention. Their adoption fee is $325. Nova knows how to sit and shake on command. She loves belly rubs, playing fetch and eating watermelon.  Puppies require someone with lots of time and patience to raise them to be the best dogs they can be. They will do well with dogs, cats and kids. Since puppies don't have all of their manners yet, they may be too much for toddlers and very young children. If you're interested in meeting them, please apply online and we'll be in touch: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Meet Maria! Maria is a beautiful 4-year-old Rottweiler with a remarkable story of resilience, strength, and second chances. Weighing approximately 80 pounds, Maria's journey hasn't always been easy. In March, she was found as a stray with serious injuries, likely after being struck by a vehicle. She was taken to a city shelter where she received surgery to repair a broken femur. Through it all, Maria remained calm, gentle, and incredibly brave. Today, she has fully recovered and is enjoying life in foster care while she patiently waits for the forever family she deserves. Maria is a well-mannered girl who is both house and crate trained. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night, walks beautifully on a leash, and takes treats with the gentlest touch. She is not a frequent barker but will alert you when someone arrives at the house. While Maria is affectionate and loving once she feels safe, she is naturally cautious and slow to warm up to new people. She will thrive with a patient family willing to give her time and space to build trust at her own pace. Once that bond is formed, Maria's loyal and devoted personality truly shines. Maria would do best in a calm home with children 16 years of age or older who can respect her boundaries and understand her need for gradual introductions. She can be happy as an only dog, but she would also enjoy a canine companion her size or larger. Maria has a bit of an alpha personality, so proper introductions and confident leadership are important. Because of her size and play style, she is not a good fit for homes with small dogs. A family that works from home or spends a lot of time around the house would be ideal, as Maria enjoys companionship and being included in daily life. She does have one amusing quirk—she's a bit of a counter surfer—so keeping snacks out of reach is highly recommended! Maria is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Despite the challenges she has faced, she continues to show an incredible capacity for love and trust. If you're looking for a loyal companion and are willing to give a deserving dog the time she needs to settle in, Maria may be the perfect addition to your family. If you are interested in meeting Maria, please complete an adoption application through Legacy Humane Society. All of our dogs live in foster homes while they wait for their forever families, allowing us to learn more about their personalities and help find the best possible match. Maria has overcome so much and is ready for a family that will love her forever. Could that family be yours? Please apply online if you're interested in meeting her. Her adoption fee is $275. Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Story
Walker is a 7-month-old neutered Labrador Retriever/Doberman mix with a handsome brown and tan coat, a sweet personality, and more love to give than he knows what to do with! This young guy is all about people. While some dogs are obsessed with toys or treats, Walker`s favorite thing in the world is simply being with his humans. If you step into his kennel or out into the yard with him, be prepared—Walker will happily greet you with an enthusiastic barrage of kisses and affection. He may even jump up to make sure you don`t miss out on any of the love he`s trying to give!Walker enjoys exploring the yard and checking out his surroundings, but he always keeps an eye on his people and loves following them around. His gentle, friendly nature makes him a joy to spend time with, and he seems happiest when he`s close to someone who will give him attention and affection. As a typical puppy, Walker is still learning the basics and doesn`t currently know any commands or tricks. He`ll need a family willing to help him learn good manners, basic obedience, and leash skills. The good news is that he`s eager to be around people, which can make training a great bonding experience.Walker has shown curiosity toward other dogs and was observed calmly watching a similarly sized female dog through a fence without any signs of agitation. While he appears to be dog-friendly, any resident dogs should still participate in a meet and greet to ensure a good fit.If you`re looking for a sweet, affectionate young dog who wants to be your shadow, your adventure buddy, and your personal kissing machine, Walker may be exactly the companion you`ve been searching for.

Story
Roxie was a rescue dog who had been with me for about 6 years. When it was just the two of us she was great, no problems, but since moving in to a full household with 2 young children and another dog, she has become very anxious and insecure. I am working 2 jobs now and don't have the time to spend with her. She was abused before I got her and still is very skittish. She gets along with females better than males as far as people. She's nipped at some men but had never bitten anyone. She leaves the babies alone. She really needs a calm, caring small home where she can have the attention that I can't give to her anymore. She is constantly hiding in the bathtub or under the bed or anywhere she can fit. She is afraid of everything. She loves to run and will bark at other dogs, but she isn't sure how to play with them. She's a sweet girl who needs a lot of attention and patience.
