Story
Meet Jasper! A soulful three-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie/Rottweiler mix currently in Colorado Springs, CO, whose calm, loving heart is wrapped in a stunning 70-pound merle coat. With the gentle spirit of a wise old friend and the quiet loyalty of a true companion, Jasper is the kind of dog who will melt into your side on a cozy evening and follow you room to room just to be close. Jasper thrives in peaceful surroundings and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. He does well around children and enjoys their company, but he would do best with calm or older kids who understand boundaries and know how to treat him gently. Loud or high-energy play can make him uneasy, so a respectful home environment will help him feel safe and content. He’s a mellow guy who doesn’t need much to be happy: a soft spot to relax, the comforting presence of his caregiver, and maybe a treat puzzle or two to keep his brain engaged. Food-motivated and clever, Jasper knows a delightful list of commands like sit, stay, paw, spin, and even “middle”, a trick that’s as cute as it sounds! He’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and perfectly content when left alone, making him a great match for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule. While Jasper doesn’t require intense exercise, he does enjoy slow, sniffy walks where he can take in the world at his own pace. His favorite pastime? Being in the same room as you, soaking up your presence like sunshine! After being involved in two traumatic incidents with unfamiliar dogs, one when he was a puppy and another more recently, Jasper has developed a strong reactivity to dogs he doesn't know. He may bark or lunge when he sees them, especially near fences or in close proximity, and he continues to work through that with training and patient support. That said, he’s done well with familiar dogs in controlled settings, showing that he can feel safe with the right structure and trust. He’s happiest in a home with a fenced-in yard and a caregiver who values companionship, consistency, and quiet. Loud noises can startle him, but with reassurance, he settles easily. Jasper isn’t just a dog, he’s a constant companion, a quiet presence, and a gentle soul waiting for someone to see the beauty in his sensitive heart. If you’re seeking a loyal, low-key friend who will return your care with quiet affection and soulful eyes, Jasper may just be the one waiting to share your next chapter! Story
Meet Winnie! A soulful six-year-old Doberman Pinscher mix, Winnie is a 40-pound girl with a tricolor coat, expressive eyes, and a calm presence indoors. She loves cozy afternoons, warm sunny spots, belly rubs, and quiet companionship, and she has a gentle way of making home feel peaceful. Winnie is affectionate, smart, and well trained. She knows sit, stay, down, come, shake, and off, and she is crate-trained, house-trained, and comfortable spending time on her own. She bonds closely with the people she trusts, tends to feel most at ease around women, and enjoys the simple routines of daily life. Winnie needs a patient, experienced pet parent who can provide a calm, structured environment and thoughtful introductions. She can growl at strangers and needs continued training and behavior support to help her navigate situations that make her uncomfortable. She can feel overwhelmed by unfamiliar people entering her space and does best when interactions happen slowly and on her terms. Her next family should understand her full bite history, including a few earlier incidents over the years and a more recent serious bite that required medical attention. Triggers include unfamiliar men, people bending down or reaching toward the floor around her, busy or high-stimulation environments, and her strong prey drive toward small animals. Adopters should also be aware that her most recent bite occurred with no warning signals beforehand. She also has a strong prey drive and can become overstimulated in busy environments. On a short, quiet sidewalk walk, Winnie can be steady and lovely. In crowded parks or high-traffic settings with lots of dogs, people, and small animals, she has a much harder time settling. She is only neutral with larger dogs following careful introductions and is not compatible with small dogs. Because of her prey drive, she needs a home with no cats and no small pets or animals. Winnie requires a securely fenced yard and would do best in a private rural or farm-like setting with space to decompress and no immediate neighbors. She needs an adult-only, child-free home with an adopter experienced in behavior management who is committed to working with a behaviorist and continuing positive reinforcement-based support. Winnie currently receives 30 mg of Fluoxetine daily to support her behavior needs, and the effectiveness of this medication is currently under review. For the right person, Winnie is a loyal, loving, and deeply comforting companion with so much to give. If you are someone who understands that some dogs need a quieter world and a thoughtful approach, Winnie may be the companion you have been looking for. Story
Meet Murphy! A charming six-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Austin, TX, whose essence is a lively blend of curiosity and affection wrapped in a handsome tan coat with bright white accents. He is a 65-pound bundle of energy who greets each day with enthusiasm, especially if it includes long walks, open space to run, and the irresistible promise of cheese treats! Murphy is an affectionate boy who truly enjoys being near his people, happily hanging out wherever the action is. He is playful and high energy, with a love for chewing bones, chasing balls, and hopping into the car for an adventure. His curious nature means he likes to explore, though he can be a little cautious when encountering unfamiliar sights or sounds. With patience and gentle encouragement, he grows more confident and relaxed. Murphy thrives in a consistent routine, enjoying twice daily meals, regular walks, and restful nights in his crate. He is house-trained, comes when called, and knows commands like sit, stay, and come, showing his eagerness to learn and connect. He is friendly with other dogs and has done well with a younger pup, making him a wonderful companion for a home with canine friends. Murphy would do well in an active, structured environment with an experienced guardian who understands large, energetic breeds and can provide a secure fenced yard or room to roam. He may even surprise you with his occasional digging adventures and his joyful enthusiasm for life’s simple pleasures. His love for companionship means he appreciates a present and engaged pet parent who can offer guidance, playtime, and plenty of shared moments. With positive reinforcement and continued learning opportunities, Murphy blossoms into a confident, joyful partner ready for daily adventures and quiet evenings alike with his family. Could Murphy be the spirited sidekick who makes your days brighter and your walks a little more exciting? To learn more or welcome him into your family, reach out at adopt@joyfulpets.com! Story
Meet Rosie! A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever mix currently living in Liberty Hill, TX, whose golden coat and bright white accents mirror the sunshine she brings wherever she goes. Rosie is the kind of dog who’s always ready for adventure, whether it’s bounding after a tennis ball, trotting down an off-leash trail, or galloping across a big backyard with the wind in her fur! A natural athlete with a heart full of love, Rosie thrives on outdoor playtime and would absolutely adore a bit of land or a spacious yard where she can stretch her legs and explore to her heart’s content. Playful and loyal, Rosie is also a big fan of training time—especially when tasty treats are involved! She’s already picked up handy commands like “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “leave it,” and with her food-motivated personality, she’s eager to learn even more with positive reinforcement. When it’s time to wind down, this sweet girl is a cuddle pro, happy to snuggle up after a day full of fun! Rosie is wonderful with children of all ages and enjoys the company of other dogs, especially those her own size who share her zest for play. She would be a fantastic match for a family with other large dogs or anyone simply looking for a loyal, four-legged best friend. While she handles short periods alone just fine and is crate-trained, she truly shines when she’s part of the daily rhythm of a home—sharing time, space, and love with her people. Her one quirk? Vacuums and electric house tools are not her jam—they’re a little too noisy and unpredictable for her liking. But hey, aren’t we all allowed our pet peeves? Fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and house-trained, Rosie is ready to leap into her next chapter! Could your home be the one where she’ll run, romp, and rest her head? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and tell us—can you picture Rosie as your new adventure buddy?
