Story
I acquired Smokey through a family member where he was chained up in a backyard in unsanitary conditions. The goal was to take him in and get him close enough to good health before rehoming him. During his exams, he was diagnosed with heartworms, whipworms, and hookworms. I started his whip worm and hook worm treatment but cannot accommodate the heart worm treatment cost or lifestyle he needs to get through it safely. He is started on the heart worm treatment for now. He is supposed to rest and lay around but the other dog is too hyper and plays with him any chance she can and I have nowhere else to place her to stop it. He’s a very lovable dog and is learning how to be housebroken. He makes mistakes here and there but he loves making you proud of him and enjoys treats. He’s pretty lazy and likes to lay around but can get jumpy when he sees or squirrel or bird. I just want to find his forever home and give him a chance at a good life. My apartment complex also does not allow his breed.

Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Missy’s original owner passed away — he was the only family member who ever gave her attention, and the remaining family provides very little. Her background is largely unknown, including vet history and how she does with other animals. Missy is an older dog who may have hip issues or arthritis. When you first meet her, she can seem standoffish or even mean, but don’t let that fool you. She was scared and grieving. With patience and consistency, she completely opens up — she now lets me pet her and genuinely soaks up the attention when my friends and I come by to fill her food/water or tidy up the yard. She’s very food motivated and loves treats (ham is her favorite!). She can be protective over her space, like her dog house, but given that I first found her lying on a ripped moving blanket with no shade, that’s completely understandable. My biggest concern is the Texas heat she’ll face as an older outdoor dog. Missy just needs someone to be patient with her and give her a chance

Story
Murphy – 3 years old male I met Murphy through the kennel door, and it was clear he was scared. But with a little encouragement, he found his courage, came right up to me, and gave me kisses. Murphy has the sweetest soul, and he deserves a far better start to life than he’s had so far. This gentle boy is ready for someone to show him what love and safety truly mean.   He is HW+, but you can foster to adopt , which means the dog stays with you until treatment is completed and they are cleared, at no extra cost to you. The dog comes off the adoption website once you are signed up for the foster to adopt program, or you can choose to go ahead and adopt, which at that point you are responsible for taking care of the treatment and the cost of the treatment Call the shelter at 972-744-4480 or email AskRichardsonAnimalServices@cor.gov to learn more.March 7, 2026, 12:25 pm

Story
Meet the gentle, loving Shelby. She is between 2-3 years old, weighing 64 lbs. boxer mix with a soft fawn coat. Shelby was rescued under a church along with her five babies. Shelby is very strong, friendly, and discerning. Shelby loves playing with other dogs, attending dog parks and loves walks, except when it's raining and thundering as she gets anxiety. She has not been around cats and currently resides with her three pups and a Lab. Shelby is a very bright dog! As much as she loves playtime with others, she loves relaxing, cuddling, kisses and belly rubs. She loves riding in the car and taking trips. An ideal home for Shelby would be one that is safe and comfortable where she will receive plenty of love, and affection. Shelby is crate trained with no issues sleeping in one. However, she does not potty inside, as she will bark to inform you when she needs to go. Shelby has received the following vaccinations: Rabies, Bordetella, One round of DHPP. She is microchipped and will be spayed 06/17/2025. Reason for rehoming: Shelby is currently under temporary care by her rescue family who are unable to keep her permanently. This devoting and caring dog is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Story
Meet the strong, mighty loving pup, Shasta. She turned 1 year old in February, weighs 69 lbs., and is a Boxer mix with a unique brindle coat. Shasta was rescued under a church with her five siblings and her mother at just a few weeks old. Shasta is a very powerful and bossy pup who still plays well with her siblings. Shasta loves playing with other dogs, showing them love and affection. She has not been around cats. She currently resides with her mother, two siblings and a Lab. Shasta is a very clever pup! She enjoys jogs, and playing catch. She also loves good car rides and the great outdoors. An ideal home for Shasta would be one that is safe and comfortable where she will receive plenty of love, affection and training. Because she is a pup, would love to put her in an environment with a family that has children, if possible, but not a requirement. Shasta is partially crate trained with no issues sleeping or playing in one. However, she does not potty inside, as she will bark to inform you when she needs to go. Shasta will need continued training on a leash and basic commands. Shasta has received the following vaccinations: Rabies, Bordetella, DHPP. She is microchipped and spayed. Reason for rehoming: Shasta is currently under temporary care by her rescue family who are unable to keep her permanently. This super affectionate pup is deserving of the perfect furever home.
