Story
It breaks our hearts to say this, but we are looking to rehome our sweet dog, Mayflower. She has been a wonderful part of our family and is especially amazing with older children—gentle, playful, and full of love. Our kids absolutely adore her, and she brings so much joy and laughter into our home. However, now that our youngest has started crawling, Mayflower has been having a hard time adjusting. While she’s never been aggressive, she’s clearly uncomfortable around the baby, and we want to make sure both she and our children feel safe and at ease. Mayflower would thrive in a home with older children or no young kids, where she can get the attention, playtime, and love she deserves. She’s goofy, affectionate, and has a big heart—truly a special dog. We’re hoping to find a loving family who will give her the safe, happy home she needs. If you think Mayflower could be a good fit for your family, please reach out—we’d love to tell you more about her.

Tilli is a sweet, gentle girl except when getting a treat then you have to be careful with fingers. She is a typical Rottie, devoted and loves her human(s) while being great about meeting new people when given the opportunity. She gets along with other dogs but has not been cat tested although she does not bother the cats in their catio in her foster home.Tilli would be a great go everywhere girl but is also fine staying home. She is good on a leash, house trained and has great house manners. She would love to have her very own forever retirement home so she could totally devote herself to taking care of her family.Tilli is fully vetted - current with her vaccines, on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, microchipped and spayed.

Story
Sure! Here's a warm, informative adoption bio for Bonnie: Meet Bonnie – Your New Adventure Buddy! Breed: German Shepherd Mix Age: ~ just over 1 year old (Born March 25, 2024) Weight: ~60 lbs Sex: Female (Spayed) Microchipped & Fully Vaccinated Bonnie is a sweet, energetic, and affectionate young German Shepherd mix looking for a loving forever home. She came into our care after her original owner's mother—who had been watching over her—developed health issues and could no longer care for her. Unfortunately, her current caretaker works long hours and isn't able to provide the time and exercise Bonnie deserves. This bright pup is crate trained and enjoys spending time outside in the yard. While she’s not fully housebroken yet, she’s young and eager to learn with some consistent training and patience. Bonnie already knows basic commands like “sit” and “give paw,” and she absolutely loves going on walks and being around people. Bonnie has done well around other dogs and cats, and while she hasn’t been around children yet, her friendly nature suggests she’d likely do great with respectful, supervised introductions. She's up-to-date on all her vaccinations, is spayed, microchipped, and currently on heartworm prevention. All medical care was provided through the Rockwall Animal Shelter. Ideal Home: An active individual or family with time to train, play, and love a high-energy, loyal companion. A fenced yard is a plus! If you're ready to give Bonnie the home she deserves, she'll reward you with loyalty, love, and endless tail wags. Currently fostered in Rockwall, complete an online application today to set up a meet-and-greet: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Meet Cole – The Comeback King with a Heart of Gold Cole is a 3.5-year-old, 90-pound Rottweiler mix who’s survived the unthinkable and come out the other side with a tail wag and a heart full of love. Rescued in May 2022, Cole was found on the brink of death—hairless, covered in mange, and so weak he coded on the way to the ER. It took weeks of hospitalization, blood transfusions, and over $18,000 in medical care to bring him back—but he never gave up, and neither did we. Now, Cole is healthy, happy, and absolutely thriving. He’s the definition of a gentle giant—chill, affectionate, and full of personality. He gives high-fives, adores belly rubs, and is always up for a long walk or a lazy couch nap. Bonus points if there’s a musical playing—he’s a fan of the arts! Cole is great with kids (he actually listens to them more than his humans!) and loves other dogs. He’s leash-trained, food-motivated, and would make the perfect adventure buddy—whether it’s hiking, running, or just exploring the neighborhood. Recently returned due to a family illness, Cole is looking for a forever family who will love him as much as he loves everyone he meets. He’d thrive in an active home, especially with another pup to play with. This sweet boy has been through more than most dogs ever will, but he hasn’t let it dim his light. He’s ready for his next chapter—could it be with you?

His calm nature makes him a perfect fit for a loving, patient home. He gets along well with dogs and kids, but he’s a little scared of cats, so he’d do best in a cat-free home.
