Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Queen is a 4-5 year old Shih Tzu/ Lhasa Apso mix weighing about 18lbs. Queen was an owner surrender and unbeknownst to us or the previous owners Queen was actually pregnant. We had all thought she was just a little chunky when we met her and as the days went by her belly kept growing. Queen has been in a foster home that has helped her whelp her beautiful puppies and now that the puppies are old enough it’s Queens time to shine on stage and win over her forever family. Queen came into the rescue on the more shy side but you wouldn’t know that now. She is being fostered in a home with 4 other dogs weighing from 10-65 lbs and is doing well. It took her some time to get used to a crazier household with rambunctious dogs but they have all learned to coexist with each other. Queen is not an option for a home with cats.  Queen has been such a fantastic mom to her puppies and has been teaching them the ropes on how to be good little puppies. She was never really into playing with toys but now she’s a toy hog and will happily play with plush toys, a game of fetch or chew on a dog bone. Queen has truly blossomed in her foster home and has become such a happy spirited little girl. She is always smiling and is so excited to see her foster mom when she gets home from work. Queen gets to stay home during the day while her foster parents are at work. She has never really been a fan of the crate and is a more free spirited girl and likes to roam the house during the day. Keep the kitchen counters clear of food as Queen would love to hop on the counter and eat your lunch if given the opportunity. Queen has been doing great with potty training as long as she has access to be able to go out in the backyard as she pleases. She will also use potty pads at night when all the doors are closed. Queen is very much a Velcro dog and would love to be in a home where her new family works from home so she can spend her time cuddling her humans while they have zoom meetings.  Queen is only an option for a home that has owned a dog in the last 3 years. She is best suited for non apartment/condo living. Children will need to be over the age of 8 years old.September 22, 2023, 1:14 pm

Story
Up until a couple of days ago, Neptune & Mars were long-haired, free-loving hippies - but a recent trip to the salon has transformed them into a clean-cut, close-cropped cuties. Either way, they're absolutely gorgeous! Both of these boys are easygoing cuddlebugs who takes their time to sniff and explore the world around them. They are also great with dogs and kids. This is the duo you've been dreaming about! They are out of this world! Here are some notes from their foster: Mars- will eat anything, anytime, anywhere Neptune- likes a late breakfast and prefers to be hand fed. Mars- loves being outside, wandering around, smelling everything Neptune- loves a quick bathroom break and then right back inside. Mars- loves sleeping on blankets Neptune- loves sleeping in cushy beds Mars- is a quiet boy who goes with the flow Neptune- lets you know what he wants and he mostly likely wants it immediately. Mars- car rides.. hard pass! Neptune- car rides..not a problem Mars- such an independent boy who wants to walk. Neptune- is all about comfort and being carried- he can't be bothered with using his own legs. A few things these bonded boys do have in common are- Both bring each other so much comfort! Both keep an eye on each other throughout the day. Both appreciate a calm environment. Both LOVE cheese. Both have has some tough times in the past and are so ready to start a new chapter of life with their forever person! I love how perfectly they balance each other out! It's been so special watching their relationship unfold. They have so much love to give and are going to make the best addition to any home.

Story
Mr. Brown is the silliest boy in town. This adorable creature has had a ruff go, but is feeling so great about starting his new life. Just like any grouchy old man he doesn't see or hear well and claims to be very independent, but secretly needs all of your love. He will lean into scritches that he claims he doesn't want, and would love nothing more to snuggle into your lap for a long snoozle (although he will just pretend he ended up there on accident). Here are some notes from his foster: Mr. Brown lights up every room he waddles into. He's friendly, peppy, affectionate, engaging, spunky and charms everyone who lays eyes on him (or happens to hear him; his grunts and snorts are equal parts endearing and hilarious). Mr. Brown is that marvelous mix of low-key and mellow (no complaints if you need to leave him alone) plus playful and loving (if you're available, he'd love some scratches across his wide back, or to snooze next to you on the couch, or to play fetch). Though he is a portly fellow, he's surprisingly spry and not only enjoys going for strolls outside but can play fetch for as long as you're willing to toss a little stuffed toy. He's a very polite fetch partner, albeit a bit slow, and will chase and return toys for as long as you're willing to toss them. Mr. Brown is quite housetrained, availing himself of both a dog door and a pee pad. He eats voraciously and eats cheese-wrapped pills eagerly. Mr. Brown does take a pill three times a day, but it's so easy to give him those pills that it feels more like an opportunity to give him a treat three times a day (which he obviously deserves because he's the best). He had a couple seizure episodes that weren't terribly worrisome, but just suggested that he would do well to have some anti-convulsants. Mr. Brown arrived at Muttville with horribly dry eyes, and so he needs some goop put in them to keep them healthy. Mr. Brown really doesn't like hands going near his eyes--they must have been so painful before starting treatment!-- but there are tactics to help make goop time quick! And Mr. Brown does not hold grudges; the second eye time is over, he's right back to being a happy, snorting, silly lovebug!

Story
Here's some notes from her foster: Gracie Lou went from shy and shut down to the most outgoing girl! She hasn't had the easiest past, but is now starting to enjoying all of the sweet little thing in life. Gracies perfect morning starts around 10am, has some breakfast, goes on a nice walk around the block, followed by a nap in the sun. As for the rest of the day, she'll just go with the flow. Some days she hangs out with me while I work, others she hangs out in the sun in the backyard. Gracie Lou may be easygoing and sweet, but she's been living with 5 boy dogs and has no problem speaking up when one is annoying her. They all realized quickly that she is the Queen here and ends up getting what she wants! She is house broken (once she gets her routine down), sleeps through the night, eats her meal nicely, loves all people, gets along with all dogs she's met, walks great on a leash, is great at snuggling... she's just the best!! Gracie Lou is going to make the best addition to any family!
