Story
Nirai (means calm) and her 4 friends were all dumped in the streets of Fremont. They were all neglected dirty and very matted. She is more timid and nervous than the others. Needs more time to decompress and feel safe at her foster home. The shelter had her shaved down since she was severely matted (See my before and after picture!). She is now relaxing at her foster home. More photos and info to come as she learns and feels safe. Update 1/20/26 from her foster home: She was scared for the first two days but now she is a completely different dog. She sleeps very well through the night in her crate is potty trained and already knows how to use the doggie door to go to the backyard for her business. She is good with other dogs though she doesn’t play with them much yet. She is also great with my 5-year-old son. She loves human company more than dogs for now. She plays with my son and my husband sleeps on our laps and loves belly rubs. She also seems fine when we leave her at home for a few hours. I’m feeding her home-cooked food and she loves carrots and treats. See How Happy now in the links below! Watch my video #1Watch my video #2February 9, 2026, 12:36 pm

Story
Mira was one of the 5 neglected and matted dogs that were dumped in Fremont. After vet care and shave down (she had long matted coat) she is now doing great at her foster home. She was nervous at the shelter but at her foster home she warmed up quickly and is now very lovable and playful. Mira loves to jump on the bed and cuddling. Loves attention and being petted. Eating well. She loves playing with toys walks cuddling zooming around and great with foster home's dog. Mira is a sweetie in first foster home with another dog. Another dog at home really helps her feel safe. More info. to come. Mira's REEL: https://www.facebook.com/reel/792339953879642 Update from 2nd foster home for first fh's biz trip:- She's getting more comfortable with us but weary with strangers. - Eating and now loves her food: boiled chicken beef pumpkin rice homemade stew cheese canned food with homemade food.- Not reactive around dogs in fact I think being around dogs may help her we had our neighbor come down with his small dog and they were interactive. Another dog helps her feel more safe.- She loves loves loves tummy rubs but won't cuddle on the couch or sleep in their bed yet. She chooses to sleep on a dog bed on the floor and lay by herself.- Doesn't like to be picked up yet and learning she is safe.- Not use to car rides yet.- She is very picky with her treats so we have had a hard time finding a 'high value' treat to get her to do anything yet. She does seem to respond well to verbal praise.- She's very sweet just nervous and needs time to build trust!February 1, 2026, 12:33 pm

Story
Hello! My name is Ozzy, I am a 2 year old neutered male, medium sized, Shih-tzu, Beagle mix. I am a spunky, confident, young dude who leads a curious lifestyle and enjoy taking in all the smells on my daily walks. I also sport a long, luxurious hair-do, so I would need regular grooming to keep me looking my best. I would need to go to a family with older kids please, and who can continue my training to guide me along. I would do best as an only dog in the household, but may be open to sharing my space with another dog who has my same energy, so I would need to meet everyone including any resident dogs please. If I sound like a great match, come meet me, and ask customer service for more information!   Ozzy ID: A978017Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! Story
Thanks for checking out Boba! He was born on 7/10/24, making him 1.5 years old - a young adult in doggie world. Bought this MINI cutie from shih tzu lovers when he was 8-weeks old . His petite size is rare, weighing only 7.5lbs - 8lbs. On the outside, he's a cute little teddy bear. On the inside, a LION! 🤣 He's a loving cuddler and a lap dog, who needs belly rubs. ❤️ Negative: He's semi-potty trained. He'll pee on pee pads and poop nearby. He's smart though, so if you're a super patient dog trainer who can enforce structure and be consistent and reward him for pottying outside, I think you can improve this issue dramatically! Negative: He play bites at my hands regularly, which can be annoying. Barking isn't an issue for me. Shy around other dogs at first. Loves car rides. Medical records are from VCA Old River Animal Hospital & The Pet Advocate. He's due for his annual shots again. Needs to be seen for dandruff/yeast treatment, which started about two months ago.

Story
Meet Ozzy 🐾 Ozzy is a thoughtful, selective pup who is looking for a patient and experienced home where he can thrive. He has a medium energy level and enjoys a balance of playtime, walks, and quiet companionship. Ozzy is dog selective and does best with slow, careful introductions to other dogs. He’s not good with cats, so a cat-free home is necessary. On leash, Ozzy can be reactive and pull, and he can get jumpy at times, but he is good with corrections and responds well to consistent, positive training. With the right guidance, patience, and structure, Ozzy will grow into a loyal, well-mannered companion for someone ready to give him the understanding and stability he needs. 🐶
