Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, March 8th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.     Adoption Fee: $500 Flan is an 8 year old, 10-lb Shih Tzu-Lhasa Apso mix who’s as sweet as dessert and just as comforting! Like the classic treat he’s named after, Flan is a smooth, easygoing gentleman ready to sweeten up your life. Surrendered to the shelter with some of his culinary companions, Flan caught our hearts with his soulful eyes and chill demeanor. We couldn’t resist scooping him up and promising him a forever family that appreciates a refined palate and an even more refined pup. Looking for a best friend who’s equal parts cuddly and cool? Order up some Flan—you won’t regret it! Flan’s got the best of both breeds: the affectionate, loyal nature of a Shih Tzu and the independent, adaptable charm of a Lhasa Apso. He’s an expert at relaxing but also perks up for playtime with his beloved squeaky toys and a good game of fetch (though he might pull a fast one and keep the ball for himself). His favorite hobby? Taking his toys to his bed to enjoy them in comfort. Flan is a champion leash walker, loves sunshine strolls, and can turn any window into “dog TV,” happily watching the world go by for hours. When the day winds down, he’ll happily nap beside you—or on you—so you’re never short on snuggles. This little guy has excellent house manners. Flan prefers to potty outside but will use a pee pad if needed, and his foster reports he’s stopped territory marking indoors. When he’s ready to call it a night, Flan puts himself to bed in his crate (or anyone else's if it looks cozy enough) and can sleep a full eight hours before his morning potty break. He grazes on meals, politely letting other dogs finish his food—but don’t think about touching his cookies! He’s known for hiding his treats under blankets like a true treasure hoarder. Flan’s communication skills are top-notch. He uses a soft, grumbly noise to say “no,” but charmingly enough, he makes the same sound with a tail wag to say “yes.” Flan currently lives with multiple dogs and cats and gets along with them all, making him a great companion for homes with other pets. While he loves meeting new people and is a fantastic canine ambassador, Flan thrives best in an adult-only home where his laid-back vibe can truly shine. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, affectionate, and entertaining friend to sweeten your days, Flan is your guy. Why settle for ordinary when you can have Flan—a treat that never melts and always warms your heart? Flan is an option for homes with prior dog experience. Kids should be over the age of 12.  March 14, 2025, 8:38 am

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $750   The Munchie Bunch: Snackable, Adorable, and Zero Calories! Fresh out of the snack aisle and into your heart, the Munchie Litter is here to bring you all the joy of a late-night treat—without the calories! These nine tiny, crunchy, and oh-so-sweet pups are looking for their forever homes. At just 10 weeks old and weighing between 5-7 lbs, they are the perfect bite-sized companions, and each one brings a little something different to the table.   Cheeto (F): With her boundless energy and love for wrestling, Cheeto is always ready to start a game or chase after her littermates. She’s the pup who keeps things lively and fun! She’s got a lot of personality packed into a small package! While she loves to be picked up and carried, her true joy comes from zooming around and chewing on anything she can find. She loves to be around people but isn’t quite as clingy as Pretzel—Cheeto is more independent but still loves to be in the mix. Whatever the flavor, our Cheeto stands out! Chex Mix (M): Underdog Turned ChampionChex Mix started out as the little guy, and while he’s still the smallest of the crew, his confidence has skyrocketed! He’s mellow, easygoing, and totally fascinated by our Frenchie. He’s a lower-energy pup who enjoys a good romp but is just as happy to lounge the day away. If you’re looking for a snack-sized best friend with a chill vibe, Chex Mix is your match. Fruit Snack (F): Fruit Snack knows how to entertain herself and enjoys a little solo time. She’s the quiet, independent pup who likes her peace but still has plenty of love to share when it’s time to hang out. She loves her siblings, but she’s just as content to play alone or curl up for some quiet time away from the rest of the pack. Fruit Snack enjoys roughhousing with her littermates but is quick to wind down when playtime is over. Unlike the others, she’s not a big fan of being on top of people all the time, and she’s more likely to find a quiet spot to relax. Fruit Snack is calm, independent, and unbothered by being on her own for a little while.  Goldfish (F): Goldfish is the curious little adventurer, always looking for new places to explore and things to discover. Whether it’s a new corner of the house or a new backyard space, she’s ready for her next big exploration. Goldfish loves being with people and will happily play with you if you sit down and give her a chance. Her love for adventure makes her perfect for an active family or someone who loves to hike or explore the outdoors. Goldfish is the biggest of the bunch, but her curiosity will make her stand out even more. She’s energetic and always looking for the next new thing, so she’ll need a home with plenty of space to roam and explore. Graham Cracker (F): Graham Cracker is the queen of confidence. She’s got the brains, the bravery, and just the right amount of sweetness. If there’s an adventure to be had, she’s leading the charge! Whether it’s chasing after our Frenchie or outsmarting her humans (which she does regularly), Graham Cracker is one smart cookie. Kettle Corn (M): Sweet, salty, and just the right amount of pop—Kettle Corn is the best of both worlds. He’s playful but loves a good snuggle, making him the ultimate all-around pup. He’s never met a toy he didn’t like or a lap he didn’t want to nap on. If you’re looking for a puppy who can keep up with your energy but also melt into a cuddle puddle, Kettle Corn is your guy. M&M (M): Melts in your arms, not in your hands! M&M is the fluffiest and cuddliest of the bunch, and his main goal in life is to be as close to you as possible. He loves playing with his siblings but would happily trade playtime for lap time. If you need a snuggle buddy who also enjoys a little bit of fun, M&M is the treat you’ve been craving! Pickle (M): Pickle may be small, but he’s got the biggest heart when it comes to cuddles. He’s the ultimate lap dog who loves to curl up and snuggle whenever he gets the chance. While he can be energetic at times, Pickle is happiest when he’s calm and cozy. He’s the type of dog who will happily nap by your feet while you work or relax, always content to be around his favorite people. Pickle is a great fit for a more laid-back home where he can get all the snuggles and attention he loves. His calm and affectionate nature make him an ideal companion for someone who wants a loyal and sweet lap dog. Pretzel (M): Pretzel is always by your side, whether you’re relaxing or getting into mischief. He’s the definition of a clingy cuddle bug who just can’t get enough of being with his humans. He loves to climb, pull, and get into a bit of mischief, so he’ll need a home that’s ready to keep up with his playful nature and curious spirit. Pretzel is the most social of the pups, always looking for attention and a spot on your lap. He would thrive in a home with active people or kids and someone who is home often to give him the love and attention he craves.      Life with the Munchie Litter:These pups start their day bright and early, ready for breakfast and some morning zoomies. They adore their foster siblings (especially the resident Frenchie) and enjoy playtime, exploring, and chewing on their favorite toys. While they’re still working on potty training, they’re great with pee pads. M&M is the most vocal when he wants attention, while the others save their barks for important things—like breakfast time. Their Ideal Homes: These pups are sweeter than a snack aisle haul, and their foster family will miss them dearly! If you’re looking for a little munchie to brighten your days, one of these four might just be your perfect match. Warning: Side effects of adopting a Munchie Litter pup may include excessive smiling, increased belly rub requests, and a lifetime of love.   The Munchie puppies are options for homes with prior dog owning experience. Kids should be over the age of 5.March 18, 2025, 2:53 pm

Story
Libby (4 years old, 11 pounds)  has a warm, affectionate, and loyal personality. She’s a playful social butterfly, always eager to make new friends—human or canine. Her enthusiasm for life makes her the kind of dog who brings energy and joy wherever she goes, always ready for a game of chase or tug-of-war. Despite her playful side, Libby is also a devoted cuddle bug. She thrives on affection, happily curling up next to her favorite person whenever given the chance. Whether snuggling on the couch, resting her head on your lap, or leaning against you for comfort, she’s always seeking connection. Libby's loyal and shadow-like nature means she follows her favorite person everywhere, watching them closely as if she were their little guardian. Whether you’re walking from room to room or heading out for an adventure, she’s right there, wagging her tail, ready to be by your side. She’s the perfect mix of fun-loving, affectionate, and loyal, making her an irresistible companion who brings laughter, warmth, and love into every moment. Energy Level?  Medium- she's playful and enjoys long walks but loves downtime.  House trained?  Partially. She will go potty outside when taken out but hasn't gone potty on walks and has had a few accidents while adjusting to her foster home. Describe how they are on leash?  She's a fast walker! She was a little shy at first, walking behind me, but has slowly become more confident and loves walking with the resident dog, who she is happy to allow to lead.  Describe how they are with other dogs?  She's very excited to see other dogs and is very friendly and playful.  Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  She is long with another dog and gets along with him. At times, she lets him know her boundaries but nothing overly aggressive.  Commands they know?  No. Off. Come. Maybe sit.  What are their favorite things?  Treats. Kissing her favorite people.  What do they need to work on?  Potty training, jumping on tables, and confidence—not following to every room.  How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Only for a few hours so far, but she was good. She is also okay in a crate. Where do they sleep?  She sleeps in her crate (she seems to like it) and will join us in bed towards the morning.  What is their ideal home?  In a perfect world, one family member would be a remote worker or not leave the house as often, although she doesn't have signs of separation anxiety. She would do well with grass in a secured yard and another friendly dog. She may also do well with kids as she loves to play and doesn't seem to have any aggression. She needs someone willing to reinforce potty training and give her lots of chew bones since she likes to chew. Someone who loves sweet, soft cuddles and a loyal companion. Story
Roxy is playful and likes playing fetch. She is not spayed. She does not like being approached by dogs or people when on a leash. She is very affectionate and likes going for walks. She does have an umbilical hernia that would be removed if spayed. It has not caused her any problems. The vet told me she was healthy and a good weight at her last visit this February. She is up to date on all shots.
