Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $800   Dumpling is a 3 month old Shih Tzu mix who is cute enough to eat! This adorable girl came to us from the shelter. We may not know how she landed in the slammer, but we promised her the best next chapter of her life with an amazing forever family! Dumpling has the kind of coat that will require grooming, but she may not be an option for those with severe allergies.    Below is a note from Dumpling’s foster.  “Dumpling is a loving, curious, and outgoing puppy who is absolutely adorable to boot! She is so confident, kind, and has been an absolute delight to foster. Dumpling loves getting her cuddles in with us as we work, and also loves to romp around with our dogs. She does not have a timid bone in her body and would adore a family who is ready for all the adventures ahead! She is very food motivated and loves working on her training throughout the day.  Dumpling wakes up with a wagging tail that never stops thumping as she goes about her day. Her soft fur makes her a joy to pet for hours at a time. We couldn’t love this wonderful girl more and we know that she will make her new home so happy.  Dumpling wakes up between 6-7 each morning and heads out for a potty which she does right away. She comes inside for breakfast and happily eats her kibble. During the day, she spends her time playing with our resident dogs, chasing her toys around, snoozing on dog beds, and lounging on our laps for pets. She goes out multiple times a day for potty breaks. She eats again at 1 PM and then again at 6 PM. In the evening, she watches TV with us before she goes out for one more potty then bed in her crate.  Dumpling gets along very well with the dogs in our home. She would love a playmate but could also be a solo dog, as long as her forever home is ready to show her love. She is doing well in her potty training. She can’t wait to meet you!”   Dumpling is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 6.February 21, 2024, 6:43 pm

Story
Meet Skimbleshanks, the charming canine with a name as theatrical as his personality! Named after the CATS character, this 5-year-old, 15 lbs bundle of joy is ready to steal your heart. Skimble came with a bit of drama – some eye issues that had us worried. But guess what? A little magic in the form of eye drops and antibiotics, and he's now rocking both peepers like a star! This handsome, sweet, neutered fella is all about happiness, curiosity, and attention. Skimbleshanks is not just a looker; he's the perfect companion you've been dreaming of. Always eager to know what you're up to, he'll follow you around like a shadow, and if you ask him to hit the hay, he'll happily oblige. He's a social butterfly with other dogs, loves a good game of chase in the yard, and is always up for an adventure. While we're not sure about his experience with cats or kiddos, he seems to be cool with fellow walkers on the street. Skimble enjoys leisurely walks, has a healthy appetite, and we're making great progress on housebreaking – he's a smart cookie! Evenings are for cuddles, and he's a pro at making you feel all warm and fuzzy. Ready for a fantastic companion? Skimbleshanks is your guy! Interested in adopting this sweet boy? Shoot us an email at beourpet@gmail.com Let's make every day a pawsitively amazing performance with Skimble in the spotlight! #AdoptSkimbleshanks #CuddleChampion #PawsAndPerformance   GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: working on it Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: Yes mostly Good with cats?: unknown Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. Story
Little Yuki girl just arrived with her buddy Suki. What a sweet and fun girl! She is gentle and loving albeit a little shy in big social settings indoors given all the changes she's gone through. But once she is comfortable she just shines, running around, super playful and loving. Yuki walks on leash well and would be great off leash hiking too as she wants to stay by your side or with her four legged buddies. She goes crazy for belly rubs and loves kids and all dogs is she has met here.
