Story
Meet Bonnie, the lovable canine with a heart as big as her floppy ears. This sweet mellow lady is a pro at making furry friends and gets along famously with other dogs. With her gentle nature and adorable looks, Bonnie is the epitome of cuteness. Whether she's wagging her tail or giving you those puppy-dog eyes, Bonnie has mastered the art of stealing hearts. This cute little lady has a way of making every day brighter with her presence. Your life is about to get a whole lot brighter with this adorable four-legged friend by your side! Here's some notes from her foster: Bonnie is a sweet, delicate little girl with a personality as soft as her salt and pepper coat. She is visually impaired, but still gets around just fine. When I first brought her home, she would occasionally get lost and nervous and just need reassurance that someone was here. After just a couple of days, though, she started feeling more comfortable and now finds her way around the house easily. Bonnie's favorite things to do are nap and go on short walks. She makes a great work from home partner, as she will nap quietly while I work and wake up long enough for a short walk in the neighborhood or to explore the backyard and lounge in the sun. She enjoys snuggling in the evening and sleeps well through the night. She is pretty reliably house-trained, though she does sometimes need a little extra encouragement to go out for her last potty before bed. Bonnie would love to live in a calm, quiet home with a family who shares her relaxed and easy-going lifestyle.

Story
Who says seniors can't rock bangs? They can! Just look! Troy is a spry Shih Tzu-Maltese teddy bear with a human face and so much love to give. What's that? Um yes, a human face. It's the eyes. Or maybe the lips. We're not sure what went on in his lineage, but does that really matter? Ok, back to Troy's canine qualities: he loves long walks, is full of pep, and gets along beautifully with fellow dogs...and fellow people.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $650   Jesus is a 5 year old Shih Tzu mix who was rescued from the shelter. We don’t know what the start of this smiley guy’s life looked like but we know that his future is looking bright! Jesus has a coat that will require grooming but may not be an option for those with true allergies. If you want less hair in the house though, he’s your dude!  Jesus is a loving, happy, cuddly dog who is happiest being with his people. He loves to follow his foster around the house but is also fine to cuddle up and take a nap when he gets underfoot. His favorite place though? Cuddled next to his foster parents head as they take a post-lunch siesta. Jesus LOVES to play with his toys and delights in taking them out of the toy box one by one.  Jesus wakes up around 7 AM and heads outside for a potty break. He gets a short walk before coming inside for breakfast. He spends his morning snoozing on the sofa as I get started on work before we take a break for playtime around lunch. He gets another walk in the afternoon where he gets his happy zoomies out. In the evening, he gets ready for bed and then heads to his crate for the night.  Jesus can be a bit selective of his canine companionship at first, but once he settles in, he is golden. He loves people of all ages and has been known to curl up in the laps of people he has just met, which is absolutely hilarious and adorable. This dude is a real charmer who can’t wait to make his mark with his forever home! Jesus is an option for those who have owned a dog in the past, even if that experience is not recent. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8. December 7, 2023, 7:56 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $1000   Nutcracker is a 3 month old Shih Tzu mix who was surrendered to our rescue when his home realized that a puppy for Christmas when the family wasn't ready for a new dog was perhaps not the best idea! He came to us with his sister, Sugar Plum Fairy! This handsome and hilarious dude deserves a home ready to give him the love and attention he deserves, and we promised him that we would find him just that! He may not be a ballerina, but he goes to bed each night with dreams of his forever home! Nutcracker has a coat that will require grooming but is not a true non-shedding dog. He would be an option for those with lighter allergies, or who want less hair around the house. We will be placing the puppies in separate homes as we do not place puppies together.  Nutcracker is a total ham and makes his foster home laugh every minute of the day with his goofy antics. Nutcracker is the true puppy who is still learning how to use all those limbs he was born with, so he frequently tumbles into his sister while they are playing and gets up shaking his head like 'Hello! You crashed into me!' when he was the bowling pin! Nutcracker is one of the cutest pups we have had in the rescue in awhile and boy does he know it! He constantly has a smile on his face and a wag in his tail, and he wins just about everyone he meets over within minutes. Nutcracker is goofy, cuddly, loving, friendly, and a million more positive adjectives. He is just the best dog, whether you are looking for an adventure companion or a dog to snuggle on the couch and watch movies with! Nutcracker wakes up at 7 AM and heads outside to go potty before coming inside for breakfast. He spends his days playing with the resident foster dogs, cuddling up for naps, racing around the yard showing off her skills at collecting leaves, and then napping some more! He gets as many chances as possible to go potty outside during the day. He has lunch at noon and dinner around 6 PM. In the evening, it is more playing inside mixed with some treat-based training! He goes to bed cuddled with his sister in their crate and has slept mostly through the night since arriving at his foster home.  Nutcracker has been fabulous with every dog she has met. He is being fostered with his sister as well as an adult lab who is over 70 pounds! He loves them all! He also loves meeting new people and gives out kisses and snuggles even to those he has just met! He is truly such a happy dude with a zest for life! Nutcracker also got along with the resident cat in his foster home and was very respectful of the kitty when she requested space.  This holiday season, the local performance of the Nutcracker won't be the only showstopper. You can have a Nutcracker of your very own by bringing Nutcracker home today, just in time for the holidays!   Nutcracker is only an option for those who have owned a dog in the past 5 years. We will only consider homes who have owned their own dog. Homes should be prepared to discuss their grooming plan. Kids in the home should be over the age of 6. December 7, 2023, 7:56 pm

She came to us with her brother, Nutcracker! This gorgeous and hilarious girl deserves a home ready to give her the love and attention she deserves, and we promised her that we would find her just that! She dreams every night in her foster home about the lifetime of adventure and love (and puppy kisses) ahead of her and knows that she will find a perfect home for Christmas! Sugar Plum has a coat that will require grooming but is not a true non-shedding dog. She would be an option for those with lighter allergies, or who want less hair around the house. She wakes up every morning with a wag in her tail and a grin on her face and is determined to make every day even better than the last! Sugar Plum is very cuddly and is happy to spend her mornings curled up in the lap of her foster mom as she gets some work done. She also loves getting her zoomies out and trying to catch leaves as they fall from the trees in the backyard! Sugar Plum is very toy and food-motivated, so she is going to be a total breeze to train. Her favorite hobby is seeing her tail out of the corner of her eye and trying her very best to catch it! She hasn't succeeded yet, but she wants you to know that one day she will catch the elusive tail bandit! Sugar Plum Fairy wakes up at 7 AM and heads outside to go potty before coming inside for breakfast.
