Story
**Rehoming Penelope: A Loving Companion in Need of Care** Meet Penelope, a 12-year-old dog with a heart full of love and a spirit that refuses to slow down. She’s a wonderful companion who thrives in the great outdoors, whether it’s playing at the beach or frolicking in the snow. Despite her age, Penelope is still active and spunky, bringing joy to everyone she meets. However, life has taken a challenging turn for me. This situation has made it increasingly difficult for me to provide Penelope with the care she truly deserves. Penelope is currently suffering from severe dental disease, which is causing her significant pain. She is on antibiotics and pain medication prescribed by the vet, but I am unable to afford the necessary dental procedure to alleviate her suffering. It breaks my heart to see her in pain, and I want nothing more than for her to receive the love and medical care she deserves.

Adoption fee: $500 Meet Diva! 5 Years Old | Shih Tzu/Terrier Mix | Mama Dog Extraordinaire | Looking for Her Happily Ever After   Diva came to us from a shelter as a devoted mama, raising her babies with quiet strength until they each found loving homes of their own. Her babies' coats showed off the Shih Tzu side of her, though her coat is more of a mix between a Shih Tzu and a Terrier; she's low shedding but probably not an option for those with serious allergies. Now that her little ones have flown the coop, it’s her turn to shine, and we’re so excited to help her find the gentle, patient family she deserves.   When Diva first arrived at her foster home, she was a bit of a wallflower— nervous, shut down, and happiest tucked near her crate where she felt safe. But with time, kindness, and the reassuring presence of her foster family (both human and canine), Diva has begun to blossom. Every day, she grows a little braver, a little bolder, and a little more eager to be part of the action.   Diva isn’t the type to dive right into the center of the party— she prefers to hang back, watch what’s going on, and slowly inch closer when she feels comfortable. She loves to be near her people, following her chosen human from room to room like a quiet little shadow. While she’s still learning that hands can bring love instead of fear, she’s already a big fan of gentle head scratches, melting into complete relaxation when she trusts the touch.   Her happy place? A sunny yard where she can explore every corner, watch birds and squirrels, and soak up the warmth of the day. She’s got a playful side too— her favorite hobby is hoarding toys and treasures in her crate, including her prized stuffed squirrel, chew toys, and even the occasional flower or cardboard box!   Diva finds courage and joy through her doggie friends, and another calm, confident pup in her forever home would help her continue to grow. She’s also wonderfully gentle with kids and has a soft spot for the men in her foster home too. While she’s not quite ready for walks yet, she watches with curiosity and we believe, with time, she’ll join the pack on neighborhood strolls.   &#226&#156&#133 House trained and crate trained &#226&#156&#133 Low energy, more of a lounger than a go-getter &#226&#156&#133 Loves toys, bones, and gentle company &#226&#156&#133 Rarely barks (except to join in when her foster siblings do!)   Diva’s ideal family will give her the time, space, and stability to keep building her confidence at her own pace. She has so much love to give and deserves a home that sees the gentle, sweet soul behind her cautious eyes—a family who will celebrate every small victory along the way.   If you’re looking for a quiet, loyal companion with a heart full of potential, Diva just might be your girl.July 11, 2025, 8:37 pm

Story
Libby (4 years old, 11 pounds)  has a warm, affectionate, and loyal personality. She’s a playful social butterfly, always eager to make new friends—human or canine. Her enthusiasm for life makes her the kind of dog who brings energy and joy wherever she goes, always ready for a game of chase or tug-of-war. Despite her playful side, Libby is also a devoted cuddle bug. She thrives on affection, happily curling up next to her favorite person whenever given the chance. Whether snuggling on the couch, resting her head on your lap, or leaning against you for comfort, she’s always seeking connection. Libby's loyal and shadow-like nature means she follows her favorite person everywhere, watching them closely as if she were their little guardian. Whether you’re walking from room to room or heading out for an adventure, she’s right there, wagging her tail, ready to be by your side. She’s the perfect mix of fun-loving, affectionate, and loyal, making her an irresistible companion who brings laughter, warmth, and love into every moment. Energy Level?  Medium- she's playful and enjoys long walks but loves downtime.  House trained?  Partially. She will go potty outside when taken out but hasn't gone potty on walks and has had a few accidents while adjusting to her foster home. Describe how they are on leash?  She's a fast walker! She was a little shy at first, walking behind me, but has slowly become more confident and loves walking with the resident dog, who she is happy to allow to lead.  Describe how they are with other dogs?  She's very excited to see other dogs and is very friendly and playful.  Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  She is long with another dog and gets along with him. At times, she lets him know her boundaries but nothing overly aggressive.  Commands they know?  No. Off. Come. Maybe sit.  What are their favorite things?  Treats. Kissing her favorite people.  What do they need to work on?  Potty training, jumping on tables, and confidence—not following to every room.  How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Only for a few hours so far, but she was good. She is also okay in a crate. Where do they sleep?  She sleeps in her crate (she seems to like it) and will join us in bed towards the morning.  What is their ideal home?  In a perfect world, one family member would be a remote worker or not leave the house as often, although she doesn't have signs of separation anxiety. She would do well with grass in a secured yard and another friendly dog. She may also do well with kids as she loves to play and doesn't seem to have any aggression. She needs someone willing to reinforce potty training and give her lots of chew bones since she likes to chew. Someone who loves sweet, soft cuddles and a loyal companion. I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereLouie is the perfect pooch for a quiet and calm household looking for a quirky and cute senior! Louie is great (independent) with both cats and dogs, so would be fine in a home as the only pet or with other low energy friends. Since he can’t see perfectly, he may get startled with a more high energy roomie! For this reason he would do best in a home without kids.  Louie’s perfect day would involve lots of time with his people getting back scratches, cruising around outside, treats, and lots of snoring naps on a comfy dog bed! He had a rough start to life and will need medication 4x per day for his epilepsy, though he takes meds in pill pockets like a champ! He is on his way to being fully potty trained. He will need regular grooming but got glowing reviews from his prior groomers!  Do you have the perfect couch he has been looking for? Story
Fern – The Gentle Snugglebug Meet Fern, the soft-hearted sweetheart of the bunch. We believe she’s a Shih Tzu–Brussels Griffon mix, which explains her low-shedding coat and ridiculously cute Muppet face. At 9 weeks old and about 5.5 pounds, Fern is thriving in her Bay Area foster home and expected to grow into a perfect medium-sized mutt—about 14–20 lbs full grown. Fern is the calmest of her litter and would spend all day cuddled in your arms if you’d let her. She’s a sensitive girl who craves affection and security. Like all her siblings, Fern has no training yet and is looking for an adopter who is home most of the day (no more than 4 hours gone) and ready to commit to the socialization and structure every puppy needs. She’s fantastic with kids, dogs, and even cats. Fern’s ideal home includes a backyard, another calm and confident dog, and someone who will help her blossom through gentle guidance and daily engagement. Story
Oakley – The Easygoing Bestie Say hello to Oakley, the laid-back, lovable boy with a go-with-the-flow personality. This 9-week-old Shih Tzu–Brussels Griffon mix has the most neutral temperament of the litter—happy to match the energy of whoever he’s with, whether it’s a child, dog, or grown-up human. He’s currently thriving in a Bay Area foster home and expected to be about 14–20 pounds full grown. Oakley is easy to love but still a true puppy: untrained, energetic, and in need of structure and enrichment. He’s looking for a home with a yard, a companion dog, and people who understand that being small doesn’t mean being low-energy. Oakley does best with someone home most of the day, so he can bond, train, and grow into the loyal, friendly companion he’s meant to be.
