Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereLouie is the perfect pooch for a quiet and calm household looking for a quirky and cute senior! Louie is great (independent) with both cats and dogs, so would be fine in a home as the only pet or with other low energy friends. Since he can’t see perfectly, he may get startled with a more high energy roomie! For this reason he would do best in a home without kids.  Louie’s perfect day would involve lots of time with his people getting back scratches, cruising around outside, treats, and lots of snoring naps on a comfy dog bed! He had a rough start to life and will need medication 4x per day for his epilepsy, though he takes meds in pill pockets like a champ! He is on his way to being fully potty trained. He will need regular grooming but got glowing reviews from his prior groomers!  Do you have the perfect couch he has been looking for? All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $950 Meet the Dancer Puppies!  These 8–9 week old Shih Tzu mix puppies are ready to twirl their way into your heart! The Dancer litter—Charleston, Disco, Foxtrot, Hula, Jazz, Polka, and Tango—is a joyful troupe of confident, curious, and cuddly pups. Born into foster care and lovingly raised with dogs, cats, and lots of human interaction, they’re well-socialized, thriving, and absolutely adorable. They’re on a solid routine that includes structured play, potty time in the yard, group naps in their x-pen kitchen setup, and individual snuggles with their people in the evenings. They’ve been exposed to everyday household sounds, play nicely with large and small dogs, and are learning both outdoor potty skills and how to use pads indoors. Each puppy has their own unique flair—but they all share a love for stuffy toys, zoomies, and being near their people. They'll do great in a variety of home settings. Meet the Dancers Charleston (male)The tiniest of the group with the biggest personality. Bold, super social, and the first to befriend the family cat and big dog. A champion snuggler—he’s often found snoozing in someone's arms. Disco (female)An independent explorer who enjoys a little me-time during play but melts into a puddle during 1:1 cuddles. She’s adventurous, observant, and would thrive as a solo pup. Foxtrot (male)A curious climber who loves perching on pillows, boxes, or even his siblings. Smart and gentle, he was the first to master stairs. He starts out reserved, but warms up quickly when ready to play. Hula (female)The spitting image of her mama, Diva. Resourceful and clever, Hula keeps track of every last kibble and has a habit of sneakily stealing toys and leaves from her siblings. Greets humans belly-up for rubs—irresistible! Jazz (female)The social butterfly of the bunch, always the first to greet new people. Her coat is as soft as a bunny, and she loves stick-hunting adventures in the bushes. Feisty when her prized finds are stolen! Polka (female)Small but mighty—shy at first, but once she joins in, her personality shines. She prefers to follow the action rather than lead it and snores adorably during her deep, peaceful naps. Tango (male)The biggest pup with the fluffiest coat. He holds his own during wrestling matches but also likes to march to the beat of his own drum. This handsome boy loves to nap belly-up and soak in the calm. Ideal Homes These puppies are ready to thrive in a variety of homes—with families, singles, couples, or seniors. They’re used to other dogs and cats, and their adaptable personalities mean they’ll do well with continued socialization and love. Each will be adopted individually, not in pairs. Ready to add a little rhythm to your life? Apply to meet the Dancer Puppies—each one ready to groove their way into your heart.June 19, 2025, 1:51 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $850 Meet the Fabric Litter!  These 8 week old Shih Tzu–Yorkie mix puppies—Satin, Angora, and Cashmere—are as soft and sweet as their names suggest. Non-shedding and they’re ready to join loving homes where they can continue to grow into confident, happy companions. Though they’re naturally on the shy side, each one has a distinct personality that’s beginning to shine: Satin is the little spark plug of the group—playful, bold, and always ready to stir up a game of chase or a wrestling match. She has no trouble asking for attention and absolutely loves belly rubs. Angora is the mellow soul. Quiet and calm, she enjoys hanging nearby and soaking in the action from the sidelines. While she used to snuggle into her foster’s leg to hide during playtime, she’s now more confident and holds her own when her sisters get rowdy. Cashmere, the largest of the three, is also the most adventurous. She’s a smart little explorer and constantly sizing up the pen for an escape route (she hasn’t made it out, but she’s definitely trying!). Her signature move? A dramatic full-body sprawl known as the “sloot.” These girls spend their days playing, chewing toys, and napping in cozy puppy piles. They’re currently on a routine that includes breakfast around 9 a.m., afternoon chill time in the sun, evening play sessions, and lights out by 9:30 p.m. They're doing well with potty pad training and are impressively clean for a group of tiny wrestlers. Important Adoption Note: Although these pups were raised together, they will be adopted individually. We do not place littermates in the same home to avoid littermate syndrome and ensure each puppy bonds and thrives as a confident, independent companion. The Ideal Home  Each of these puppies would do well in a home that offers: Patience, structure, and positive reinforcement Ongoing socialization and training Plenty of time for play, cuddles, and confidence-building Our Favorite Things  Satin’s confident belly-up demands for attention Angora’s quiet snuggles and peaceful presence Cashmere’s scheming looks and determined attempts to jailbreak These sweet, spunky pups are ready to weave themselves into the hearts of their forever families. Could that be you?June 17, 2025, 3:11 pm
