Story
June!June has not had the best life, but that hasn’t kept her from wanting to be loved, nor has it kept her wanting to love. June is definately a family dog, one who wants to be as close to her people as possible, whether that’s laying on them during bed time, laying beside them on the couch, or sitting in front of the tub waiting. June is PRECIOUS and BEAUTIFUL!
June started life started off as a puppy who belonged to a backyard breeder who had no intention to give her the love and care she so deserved, but planned to use her for breeding and making money off of her. For over a year, June lived in a wooden box where she was used for breeding- one litter after another. Thankfully, someone voiced their concerns for all the dogs on the property to the local animal control. After going out and seeing the unfathomable living conditions, all dogs on the property were seized and confiscated. This is where June’s story began, but it’s most definitely not where it ends.
Age? June is around 3 years old.Favorite activity? June loves to play with any chew toys, she loves the water, and loves to play with her foster brother and sisters.Crate Trained? June will lay quietly in her crate at night, but will pace if she knows you’re up and she could be out with you.Potty-training- June does great with going out to use the bathroom, but we take her out often. She will go to the door to go out, but if you miss it, she could have an accident.
How does she do with kids? June does great with anybody she’s around. She will occasionally jump up on you, she does it with a very gently. How does she do with other dogs? June plays great with the other dogs in her foster home. How does she do with cats? June’s foster parents have a cat in the home. June has barked at Emma during a standoff, but didn’t try to attack her. I would be cautious.
Is she Hypoallergenic?A Poodle is considered “hypoallergenic” but we can’t guarantee that she doesn’t shed some. We haven’t noticed any shedding.
How big will she get? June is full grown and weighs around 40lbs.Training? June is VERY smart and VERY food motivated. She will work for foodJ
During the short time June has been with us, she has learned sit, down, give paw, and walks great on a leash. June needs someone who is willing to work with her and teacher her. Due to living in a small boxed area during the beginning of her life, June does pace. Once she settles in, she doesn’t do it as much. June is also a trash eater- She will get toilet paper out of the bathroom trash and eat it, so we make sure to keep the trash pulled, or the door closed. Due to this, we don’t allow June to have any small toys that she could potentially swallow. She’s looking for a home that will love her snuggles as much as she loves giving them. A home that will give her lots of exercise and let her play with all the toys! What's included in her adoption fee?Her adoption fee is $650 and includes each animal being current on age appropriate vaccinations including DHPPL, bordetella, influenza, rabies, and boosters when appropriate. De-wormed for any internal parasites (round worms, hook worms, tape worms and whipworms), spayed/neutered and micro-chipped. Each of our dogs also receive flea and heartworm medication every month. We look to place our dogs in homes where they are loved, allowed on furniture and treated like family so please do not apply if you are looking for an "outside dog" or if you have any dogs who live outside only. If you're looking for a dog who will keep you warm at night or snuggled by your side while watching TV, one who will enjoy playing in the yard, or one who’ll enjoy going and doing whatever the day finds, this may be the gal for you. June’s wish list consists of an inside forever home. A home with lots of toys and pet parents who understand the time commitment that a new dog requires. It is required for June to have a fenced in yard, so please don’t apply if you don’t already have a fence.
If you think you have the perfect home for June and have questions, please contact us at HootiesHaven@yahoo.com We do out of state adoptions, but require you to come here and meet the pup if you are approved to adopt. Please feel free to ask for more details. We work hard to place our fosters in the very best homes. Please be aware that we have a lengthy application, but our application weeds out those who are not serious about adopting. When filling out the application, please be sure to include as much information and be as detailed as possible- your explanation could be what sets your application aside from the rest. Please, if you are not serious about adoption, or if you are considering another dog, we respectfully ask you to please not proceed as our volunteers have other full time jobs and reading through applications and calling vet references is time consuming. Please know, if you’re asked to come for a meet and greet, it’s just that- you are coming to meet the dog. We are the dogs advocate, so we are watching to see how the dog interacts with the family, and how the family interacts with the dog. Our goal is to place all of our dogs in the home that’s best suited for them.We also ask that you be mindful of the scheduled time for a meet and greet. While we understand things happen, our time is also important, as we have families and full time jobs, so please be mindful of that as well.Link to June’s Adoption Application:https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/22197/genericIMPORTANT MESSAGE Our adoption interviews are being held strictly by invitation and appointment only.
