Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Rosemary!  Nicknamed “Rosie,” this girl was born around November 2020 and weighs healthy 75 pounds. We had her DNA tested!  She is 85% Great Pyrenees, 3% Anatolian Shepherd Dog, 3% Siberian Husky, 3% Saint Bernard, 2% Komondor, and 2% Maremma. She has the energy of a puppy and loves to play.  She she loves to give kisses and wields a strong Pyr paw! Rosemary gets along with dogs of all sizes and loves to play with them all. At mealtime though, she wants everyone else’s food.  We feed her separately so the others can eat in peace. She hasn’t been cat tested, but she lives with little dogs. She might be very interested when first meeting a cat, then would lose interest unless they try to eat her food. Rosie is house trained. We have begun crate training her.  She has progressed to crawling into the crate on her own.  She walks well on a leash.  She does well on car rides; she has a little trouble loading up, but then settles down for the ride. If you are looking for an energetic dog who will love you enthusiastically and keep you entertained, Rosemary could be the dog for you! SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Phoebe!  She is a sweet, submissive, dog-friendly, freckled badger-faced, female Great Pyrenees rescued from a local shelter. Phoebe is almost 4 yrs old and weighs 80 pounds.  Phoebe is a little shy when new people approach her, but she will walk right up to you on her own for pets and loving. Phoebe is good with dogs. She enjoys playing with larger dogs and leaves little dogs alone.  She is house trained and is good on a leash, but has a tendency to pull.  She rides well in a car and loves to look out the window.   Phoebe is very afraid of loud noises like thunder and fireworks, so she needs a little nook to hide in when she feels compelled. She is also not a fan of grooming. However she does love keeping squirrels and birds out of her yard. Phoebe is a very loving girl just waiting for her forever home. Currently she is in a foster home North of Dallas, Texas. Any out of state adopters are responsible for arranging their own transportation. Phoebe is spayed and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $250. Become an approved adopter with SPIN Rescue and we can put you in touch with her foster to arrange a meet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Barry! He is a gentle, goofy, laidback, 1yr old, 90lb male Great Pyrenees mix. Barry has a lot more of a white Lab build and coat, but still total Pyrenees couch potato energy, even as a puppy! His foster family affectionately calls him 'Butter Bear' because he is so sweet and squishy. He is sweet with people. He can be a little bashful, but will give you gentle kisses and snuggles. He did great at our recent adoption event meeting lots of little kids and adults, he didn't jump up on anyone and ended up laying down calmly.  Barry is great with dogs. He loves to play and roughhouse with the large dogs in his foster home. He hasn't been tested with cats or small dogs, but his foster family thinks he would do well with them. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Barry is very go with the flow. He is house trained. He walks beautifully on the leash, keeping a perfect strolling pace! He gets a little nervous during car rides and will drool a lot.  He has been with his foster family since he was a young puppy found on the streets, so he will need his forever family to be patient with him while he settles in. Barry is currently in a foster home in DFW area, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging their own transportation - most make the drive themselves. Barry is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. His adoption fee is $250.  Apply to meet and adopt Barry at www.spinrescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 24, 2025, 7:47 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Meet Merlin! He is a 4.5 years old, 95lbs, male Great Pyrenees. Merlin is the definition of a gentle giant with a sensitive soul.  True to his Great Pyrenees nature, he's a laid-back companion who spends most of his day napping and observing his kingdom. But don't let that fool you, when the mood strikes, Merlin comes alive with bursts of playful energy! He loves romping around with the other large dog in his foster home, playing with squeaky toys, and his favorite, destroying boxes.  Merlin is a sweetheart who adores hanging out with kids and will gladly accept pets and attention. He takes a little time to warm up to new people, but quickly becomes friends if you bring him some cheese. He is a gentleman and doesn't jump up on people or the couch, even when invited up. He is also not a fan of stairs.  He plays beautifully with other big dogs and must have another large dog in his forever home as he gets anxious when left alone. When he first arrived at his foster home, there were two scuffles over dropped kibble, but with separate feeding areas and no bones in the house, there has been zero issues since.  Merlin is a smart cookie who knows sit, stay, lay down, leave it, and shake (though he'll give you a look that says 'really?' when you ask for that last one). He has also learned to open latch doors. Whether he actually performs these commands depends entirely on his mood, he has that independent Pyr streak.  He also knows "wait" for crossing streets and has decent leash manners, though he will pull if something scares him. High traffic areas stress him out, but he loves peaceful trails and wading through water. Merlin can be sensitive and need extra reassurance when it comes to thunder, vacuums, garbage trucks, and skateboards. He can also be vocal and not shy about sharing his opinions.  Merlin is a loyal, loving companion who has been through a lot but has so much love left to give. He is house trained, great in the car, wonderful with respectful kids, and once he warms up to you (don't forget to bring the cheese!), you'll have a gentle giant who just wants to be part of your pack.  If you have room in your home and heart for a sensitive soul who needs a confidence dog sibling, Merlin may just be your perfect match. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Stella! She is a 4yrs old, 70lbs, sweet, good with kids, low energy, female Great Pyrenees.  She came from a local shelter where she was adopted but then returned for chasing the family's cats and was placed on the euthanasia list. That's when SPIN Rescue stepped in.  Stella is very sweet and gets along great with everyone, including children.  She has done well with most dogs, although has had some issues with other female dogs in the past. She is currently in a foster home with several other large dogs who she tolerates well and has made friends with a few of them, especially the more submissive ones. Introductions with other female dogs should be done with care.  Stella loves going on walks and playing with Nyla bones. She walks well on a leash, but it is still relatively new to her so she does pull some, however she is quickly learning and improving.  She is house trained and does very well waiting to go outside. She is crate trained. She does well on car rides.  Stella has been known to bark when she hears a noise that she is unsure of, especially if she's outside.  Stella has a fairly low amount of energy and for the most part enjoys lounging around in the home on whatever comfortable dog bed / blanket she deems best.  She is mostly independent but does love to be pet and will become your best friend if food is involved.  Stella is currently in a foster home in DFW area, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging their own transport. Stella is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and on heartworm preventative. Her adoption fee is $250. Apply to meet and adopt her at www.spinrescue.org. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 21, 2025, 9:54 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Jamie! Jamie is a friendly, low energy, 6 yr old, 85 pounds, male Great Pyrenees. He is a medical rescue that came to SPIN Rescue struggling with an upper respiratory infection, very dry/flaky skin, coat issues, and heartworms. He has since recovered and his coat has come in beautifully. He is currently on heartworm slow-kill treatment, which SPIN Rescue will provide his adopters with medications to continue treating. Jamie is a very lazy dog that loves to lay around and be comfortable whenever he has the chance. He loves to be petted and his favorite position is laying down showing his belly for belly rubs. He loves to lounge around by doorways to do his job of being a speed bump.  Jamie loves kids and did well when tested with children, even the little ones. He is very sweet and calm. He is fearful of new dogs and has had issues where he was bit/attacked by other dogs in the past. He will need to be the only dog in his home.  Jamie is house trained, crate trained, and prefers to have his own safe space. He gets nervous in the car, although is slowly improving. He does bark some outside at strangers and loud noises, especially sirens. He loves walks but doesn't need an excessive amount of exercise due to his low energy levels. He could even be a good apartment dog.  One of his main struggles is his fear of slick floors. This is slowly improving but he definitely prefers carpet and rugs in his home.   Think this sweet lazy guy would be a perfect fit for your home? Apply to become a SPIN adopter and we would love to put you in touch with his foster family to arrange a meet. Get started at www.SpinRescue.org Jamie is currently in a foster home in DFW, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport on their own. His adoption fee is $250. Story
Meet Aimee! She is a 1 yr old spayed female mixed breed that weighs 43lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 9/18. Per the dog scanner app its possible she may have some Anatolian Shepherd or Border Collie in the mix. She is one smart girl too! She knows not only sit, but paw, stay and down. She has such a loving, endearing personality with a smile always on her face. She is also very curious and will sniff out nearly every inch of the shelter yard. She walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, and has the sweetest smile you just can’t resist. Aimee shows no interest in the other dogs that are barking at her, but we do always ask if you have another dog in the home, to please ask the shelter for a dog test. She deserves to have her own loving family, a secured yard to play in, but most importantly live indoors where she can enjoy spending time with her human companions. You could not ask for a more loving companion than Aimee.

Story
Ranger has been saving up his kisses for your family. This nice looking blue-eyed boy is a three year old 84 pound white and gray Staffordshire terrier/Anatolian shepherd mix. He arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/18 is a public drop off. His elbows are stained indicating he’s spent a good deal of time outside. He does jump on you and gets down when you tell him to, but he gets right back up again because he’s hungry for affection. He has so much love to give you and your family. He would need some additional training to learn not to jump on you! He’s very playful, sweet, friendly, and happy. He walks very well on the leash. He did his business many times in the yard. He’s a big boy so would need a yard to stretch his legs in and yet wants to be able to spend quality time curled up on the couch next to you or at your feet in his own bed. He’s really just a big love bug.
