Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

Story
Have you ever seen such expressive eyes as those you see here on our puppy called Sweetie Pie?   She just looks at your with such interest and curiosity that she seems to make you think that she knows exactly what you are saying to her.  This girl was born around October 1st and is only 4 pounds at 9 weeks of age.   You might ask us what her breed is?  Well we think a little bit of everything but the kitchen sink?   She came in at a small Tennessee shelter with her littermates and no adult parents that we knew about.  We think this girl could be said to have a little bulldogs in her, small Terrier or Feist in her DNA as well.  She is a loving sweetheart that is very playful with other puppies and dogs. She enjoys playing with the cats and kittens in the house as well and she is learning new games everyday.  She adores tug of war and playing with the resident Pug who lives at the foster home fulltime and we think they have a mother daughter relationship that will always be solid as a rock between them.  Sweetie Pie pee pad trained and is a very mello puppy for such a young puppy.  We think she will be a 25 pound adult dog one day.  If you are interested in this girl with the inquisitive face and eyes, please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   We are Critter Cavalry Rescue and we can transport. northward as well as adopt to Tennessee where we originate.  Tell us where you live:  city and state. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 5, 2023, 2:15 pm

I'm in a FOSTER HOME! If you want to meet me, you can start the process by emailing my foster parent at ellebworks@gmail.com to set up a time to virtually meet me.Do you like sweet soft-faced boys? Are you in the market for a very good dog with resting cute sad face? There's no one better than Medino. Medino is a big ol' squishmellow. He's 70 pounds but you wouldn't know it--he's easy to manage on leash despite being VERY squirrel curious. He accepts treats/food very gently and won't go for it until you put it riiiiiight in front of his nose. He doesn't jump up or get mouthy, he'd rather sit as close to you as possible and lean in while you rub his head.Medino has the cutest worried face, with the most expressive eyebrows we've ever seen. He'd love a loving mom or dad that will be patient and gentle with him as he builds his confidence, like walking past the basement door to get outside! With about 10 minutes of encouragement and some treat trails, he's now walking past that scary basement door with 90% confidence (lol).Medino is a very, very good boy. He hasn't had a single accident since being in foster care. He keeps a clean kennel, goes in willingly and doesn't file any complaints. In fact, the only time we've heard him bark is when he woke himself up out of a nap and randomly barked at the room. He knows sit, stay/wait, and no. He sleeps through the night and has been left for 6 hours without issue. We haven't made and doggie friends yet, but he shows positive interest when we're on our walk, however due to his squirrel curiosity, he many not due well with cats. Medino is a great co-worker; while his foster family works, he mostly sleeps the day away or entertains himself with a bone. He'll even help you shred all your cardboard to prepare it for recycling. He's just a really great and easy dog. Medino just wants to be loved and allowed to love you back!Check out Medino's video! https://www.youtube.com/embed/hh_ftIPIYKY

I'm in a FOSTER HOME! If you want to meet me, you can start the process by emailing my foster parent at friend2mutts@gmail.com to set up a time to virtually meet me!"Cain is a big marshmallow who will just melt next to you for cuddles, scratches and belly rubs. He is a professional nester and takes care in arranging his dog beds just right for nap time. This sweet guy also enjoys walks, romps in the backyard, and puzzle toys. His favorite toy is the big kong that he pushes around to spill out the treats. He likes to chase a tennis ball but isn't into bringing it back.  Mostly he wants to be near you.He knows "sit" and is learning other manners. Mostly he doesn't pull on the leash, but will try to chase squirrels or bunnies and he gets a little too excited when he sees other dogs. We are working on this and he is getting better about calming down when there are other dogs around, especially with the help of yummy treats. He has not been possessive with his toys or food.   Cain can be nervous when meeting new people. With a slow introduction, he will end up in the new person's lap. He can be anxious when he is alone. Toys to keep him busy help a lot. A stable home and family is what will help Cain most."To learn more about Cain or to schedule a virtual meet and greet with her, contact her foster parents at friend2mutts@gmail.com.Check out Cain's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee9qkjqpAkA

I'm at our Oglethorpe Street shelter! If you want to adopt me, come to 71 Oglethorpe St. NW between 12-7 pm Tuesday-Sunday or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more.Well, the panda's may have left town, but we think Lenny is a pretty good substitute with his silly facial markings! And he is even more fun than those big bears. He is full of beans, and he has a real zest for life. Lenny is pretty comical too. He was lost and just jumped into someone's car- almost asking for help. Lenny is now ready for a super active family that can keep up with his frisky, busy agenda. He is ready for lots of activities, and he will need folks that want to get up and go with this funster. Lovable Lenny is ready for a great life so please meet him soon!Check out Lenny's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3_SLpFx4yQHead to this link to see how we've been responding to Canine Influenza in shelter and working to keep it from spreading in the community!https://www.humanerescuealliance.org/blog/posts/what-you-need-to-know-about-canine-influenza

I'm at our Oglethorpe Street shelter! If you want to adopt me, come to 71 Oglethorpe St. NW between 12-7 pm Tuesday-Sunday or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more.Prince is tired of being treated like the court jester! He's a regal boy who has been de-throned and he's sad. He is such a great fellow. He can give the most pleading puppy dog eyes that no one can resist. Prince had a home, but the owners did not have the means to care for him anymore. He's doing his best to cope with this big change, but we told him that change can be good so now he's looking for a new castle to call his own. He is very sweet, mellow, and gentle. It was reported that he's done well with other dogs too. Now Prince would love a devoted family that will let him be a true member of the family. He would love to have soft beds, good meals, a steady schedule which includes lots of fun walks. Prince is a big boy- 76 pounds! - so make room on your couch and in your heart for a sweet, royal and loyal pup.Check out Prince's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VohB8oM2pxMHead to this link to see how we've been responding to Canine Influenza in shelter and working to keep it from spreading in the community!https://www.humanerescuealliance.org/blog/posts/what-you-need-to-know-about-canine-influenza
