Story
Meet Poncho- The Biggest Goofball! Poncho is a 6-year-old American Bulldog mix who’s making up for lost time — and having so much fun doing it. This 60-pound bundle of joy is white with adorable black spots, and he’s packed with personality, charm, and energy to spare. Since arriving at our shelter, Poncho has discovered the pure magic of kiddie pools, belly rubs, and running full-speed with the zoomies around the yard. He loves every person he meets and greets new friends with enthusiastic wiggles and hopeful eyes. That said, he's still working on some manners — especially his habit of jumping up when he's excited — so he’d do best in a home without small children for now. Poncho has lived his entire life outdoors, so things like crate training and potty training are totally new to him. But don’t worry — this boy is super food- and attention-motivated, and he’s eager to learn. He’s shown no negative reactions to other dogs in passing, and while we haven’t officially dog- or cat-tested him yet, we think his high energy might be a bit overwhelming for feline friends. Poncho’s story is one of survival and new beginnings. He came from C.H.A.I.N.E.D, a Detroit-based organization that provides care to dogs living chained or kenneled outdoors. Poncho lived in an outdoor kennel beside Bobby (another of our adoptable sweethearts), and the two were cared for by C.H.A.I.N.E.D. volunteers who made sure they had hay and heated igloos in the winter. When their former family moved to Mexico and couldn’t take the dogs along, we stepped in to give them a chance at real homes — the kind with couches, toys, love, and a soft place to land. Poncho is now looking for a patient, active home where he can continue learning what it means to be a family dog. He needs someone who can guide him through the basics with consistency and love, and in return, you’ll get endless laughs, devotion, and maybe a wet kiss or two. If you're looking for a dog who will adore you endlessly, make you laugh daily, and fill your home with joy — Poncho is your guy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Poncho, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Poncho's adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care he has received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Medusa would love to be the QUEEN BEE and be appreciated for the alpha she is. She is an American Bully which is a new designer breed (mislabeled English Bulldog, Pittie, Pocketpittie, MicroBully). She is guessed to be 4 years old and around 45 lbs. Short and stocky, she is a healthy and easy dog to care for unlike the other bully breeds. Medusa can be bossy and demanding of attention, jealous when humans talk to the other dogs in her foster home. She is fostered with small and big dogs, but requires correction and supervision to avoid a 'girl fight' She would do best as an only dog to keep the peace and let her enjoy a family. Spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm treated/on prevention - she is READY for Adoption FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes fee by van transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. The setback caused jealousy behaviors which we are working on. Medusa sleeps in a crate when her foster family is not home, at night, she shares a pillow and snuggles in the human bed. Story
Dallas is an American Bully - all the snorts, grunts and silliness that comes with this stocky breed. Called "Chunky Sugar Bear" Dallas by his foster family - he is a charmer and very sweet. Dallas is crate trained but requires routine to be successful. As a stubborn or lazy bulldog, he is unbothered by 'where' he potties. Video: https://youtu.be/rhDlXBWemB4?si=WQ1dYRXwgU28TJ_H He is good with other big dogs and tolerates or ignores most dogs to play with his toys. Dallas is affectionate and likes to be close to people. Not tested with cats. He is 50 lbs and now neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Heartworm negative and on prevention. Age is unknown, labeled 'adult' - 3-6 years old. Breed experience is a plus due to skin and allergies which can 'pop' up - currently he is not on any special diets or requiring medications. Dallas has required ear flushes to help with infections and due to having short cropped off ears, will require attention and ear cleanings regularly. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee ($550.00) includes transport options to PNW (WA, UT, ID), Midwest (MN, WI, MI, OH, IL, IN) or select New England States (NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT) by pet transport partners. Story
Muffin is the sweetest soul you will ever meet. She has been an Underdog since October. She came to us severely neglected. She needed a dental and was covered in masses. Ears cropped, scars on her head. Yet, she is the happiest girl you will ever meet. We found out she has an enlarged heart which made her high risk for anesthesia. She got her dental done, she got spayed, and they removed as many masses as they could. We found out that the masses were cancerous🥺 Because she is such a high risk for surgery, we are looking for a hospice adopter at this time. With this being said, Muffin still has a zest for life. She loves food, she loves to play, and absolutely loves being with her people. All she needs in life are snacks and belly rubs. She does need to be the only animal in the home but with all the love she has to give, she is all you will ever need.

"Hi, I’m Indie!   My foster family calls me 'Sis,' and at 4 months old, I’ve already decided that life is all about two things: sunbeams and snacks. I’m a professional kiss-giver and a couch-cuddling expert. I love hanging out with human kids and dog pals, and I’m even learning how to stay on the good side of my sassy cat roommate!   If you're looking for a sweet Bully mix with a heart of gold, I’m your girl."    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet Meatball! Meatball is a 63-lb land hippo, professional splooter, bird watcher, and full-time lover boy. If you are a human, congratulations! You are automatically one of his favorite people and will absolutely be smothered in kisses. He’s seriously one of the sweetest dogs ever and just wants to be involved in everything you’re doing. He’ll follow you from room to room, flop dramatically next to you for naps, and greet you like you’ve been gone for 10 years even if you just took the trash out. When he gets excited to see us, he grabs a toy and wiggles around trying to contain himself, which is honestly the cutest thing ever. Meatball has made SO much progress in foster care. He’s now down to 63 lbs from his original (overweight) 73 lbs, takes his Fluoxetine like a champ, and does really well and stays quiet in his crate while we’re gone. He thrives with routine and has become such a cozy, lazy boy at home. He is fully housetrained, and he will tell you when he needs to go out! He is all about open communication! He loves sleeping in, dreams HARD (lots of twitching and little woofs in his sleep), and is always ready for a couch nap. He also LOVES walks and car rides. Walks are basically his favorite part of the day, and he puts those quarterback shoulders to work on the walks! Prepare yourself ahead of time if you want to walk Meatball or if you want Meatball to walk you! He is VERY passionate about chasing birds, squirrels, and rabbits, so he definitely keeps things entertaining. Car rides make him absolutely lose his mind in the best way possible. He rolls around in the backseat like he just won the lottery. He already knows “sit,” “touch,” and “paw,” and he’s super food motivated and eager to keep learning. He’s very affectionate, very people-oriented, and genuinely just wants love and attention all the time. A few honest Meatball facts: Soft toys do not stand a chance! There is only one soft toy that has stood up to him, but the rest of his toys are hard toys! He is a sucker for his Kong with frozen peanut butter!  He occasionally likes to pick up random things with his mouth like socks, trash, etc, but he lets us easily take things away from him with zero issue. I can stick my hand in his mouth. He doesn't have a possessive or mean bone in his body.  He can be a little dramatic sometimes like barking for attention or taking his neighborhood watch duty too seriously, but that’s honestly part of his charm. Meatball is just a giant sweet baby who wants a family to love him as much as he’ll love them. He has the funniest personality, the biggest heart, and so much love to give. If you want a goofy, cuddly best friend who will make you laugh every day and worship the ground you walk on, Meatball is your boy!  Click here to watch a video of Meatball.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption.
