Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet Meatball! Meatball is a 63-lb land hippo, professional splooter, bird watcher, and full-time lover boy. If you are a human, congratulations! You are automatically one of his favorite people and will absolutely be smothered in kisses. He’s seriously one of the sweetest dogs ever and just wants to be involved in everything you’re doing. He’ll follow you from room to room, flop dramatically next to you for naps, and greet you like you’ve been gone for 10 years even if you just took the trash out. When he gets excited to see us, he grabs a toy and wiggles around trying to contain himself, which is honestly the cutest thing ever. Meatball has made SO much progress in foster care. He’s now down to 63 lbs from his original (overweight) 73 lbs, takes his Fluoxetine like a champ, and does really well and stays quiet in his crate while we’re gone. He thrives with routine and has become such a cozy, lazy boy at home. He is fully housetrained, and he will tell you when he needs to go out! He is all about open communication! He loves sleeping in, dreams HARD (lots of twitching and little woofs in his sleep), and is always ready for a couch nap. He also LOVES walks and car rides. Walks are basically his favorite part of the day, and he puts those quarterback shoulders to work on the walks! Prepare yourself ahead of time if you want to walk Meatball or if you want Meatball to walk you! He is VERY passionate about chasing birds, squirrels, and rabbits, so he definitely keeps things entertaining. Car rides make him absolutely lose his mind in the best way possible. He rolls around in the backseat like he just won the lottery. He already knows “sit,” “touch,” and “paw,” and he’s super food motivated and eager to keep learning. He’s very affectionate, very people-oriented, and genuinely just wants love and attention all the time. A few honest Meatball facts: Soft toys do not stand a chance! There is only one soft toy that has stood up to him, but the rest of his toys are hard toys! He is a sucker for his Kong with frozen peanut butter!  He occasionally likes to pick up random things with his mouth like socks, trash, etc, but he lets us easily take things away from him with zero issue. I can stick my hand in his mouth. He doesn't have a possessive or mean bone in his body.  He can be a little dramatic sometimes like barking for attention or taking his neighborhood watch duty too seriously, but that’s honestly part of his charm. Meatball is just a giant sweet baby who wants a family to love him as much as he’ll love them. He has the funniest personality, the biggest heart, and so much love to give. If you want a goofy, cuddly best friend who will make you laugh every day and worship the ground you walk on, Meatball is your boy!  Click here to watch a video of Meatball.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Romeo, oh such a suitable name for this goofy, loving dog. Romeo is a 9 year young Dachshund mix. He is great with other dogs and very sociable with humans. Very food motivated and he can hear the cheese wrapper from any distance. Romeo is looking for a permanent home, preferably one without stairs. The coordination in his rear legs is not perfect, but on flat ground he is as fast as the other dogs and he love to run and play wrestle. Romeo is not an early riser, he likes to sleep in on a soft bed close to the warm air vent.  Romeo is incontinent. Romeo has limited bladder control. He leaks urine when his bladder is full. He walks as he pees and is unaware of this, he could wear doggie diapers but he would need to be trained to keep them on. Romeo will not be able to become 100% housebroken due to his neurological problem.** If Romeo is let out often he keeps clean inside most of the time.** Romeo loves his human with ALL his heart . He has lots of needs but lots of love to give. This guy is definitely worth the work. If you think you're that special person who can help Romeo and give him a forever home fill out an application. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.  Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Muffin is the sweetest soul you will ever meet. She has been an Underdog since October. She came to us severely neglected. She needed a dental and was covered in masses. Ears cropped, scars on her head. Yet, she is the happiest girl you will ever meet. We found out she has an enlarged heart which made her high risk for anesthesia. She got her dental done, she got spayed, and they removed as many masses as they could. We found out that the masses were cancerous🥺 Because she is such a high risk for surgery, we are looking for a hospice adopter at this time. With this being said, Muffin still has a zest for life. She loves food, she loves to play, and absolutely loves being with her people. All she needs in life are snacks and belly rubs. She does need to be the only animal in the home but with all the love she has to give, she is all you will ever need.

Story
Hello everyone!! I’m Drago! And I can’t wait to meet you! Just look at my face! I’m an adorable and sweet boy who will bring oddles and oddles of love and life to your family! I’m a mastiff/bulldog mix who was born around 8/14/21.I weigh about 80 pounds and have a heart full of love… and playfulness!! I’m now current on all my vaccines, but because my previous owners didn’t properly care for me I tested lightly for heartworms. But that’s ok… I’m. being treated for them on slow kill method by The Artemis Project, AND they will continue to provide and fund the medications for the duration of my treatment even after I am adopted… and I’m SO ready for a wonderful life and just waiting to go home with YOU and meet my new family. I have a calm personality and an easygoing nature. I'm a solid boy with a gentle way about me. I enjoys being close to my people, I walk nicely on leash, and I settle comfortably in a crate. I'm not high-energy or demanding — I'm totally content to just relax, keep you company, and be a steady, loyal presence in the home. I'm good with female dogs (we're not sure about male dogs or cats) and I'm crate trained too! I'm simply looking for a home where I can feel safe, appreciated and truly part of the family. Can you please set up a meet and greet with me? I can meet you, you can meet me, and we can start of what will be a long and wonderful relationship! Please apply to meet/adopt me! https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TAP/Dog Adoption fee: $100 (fully vetted) Located in the Fort Smith AR region

Meet Hemi!! Just look at that face – who could say no to that?? Well, Hemi is sincerely hoping you can’t pass him by because he is anxiously waiting for life with his forever family! He is the sweetest bulldog mix you’ll ever meet! He has an estimated birthdate of 2/13/24– a super great age having outgrown the ‘puppy’ phase but with many years of love and snuggles left to give you. He weighs in at about 55 pounds. Bottom line... this guy is the full package. Strong, loyal, affectionate and the kind of dog who makes you feel like you’re his whole world once you’re in it. Hemi is heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccines and preventatives, and neutered. He just needs a loving and responsible human to call his own so he can shower them with love, affection, and loyalty. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Do you have tennis balls, like a lot of them, if not will you buy some? If your answer is yes than you might be the home for me! See I am simple girl but I do require lots of tennis balls!! I like other toys but nothing gets me as excited as having tennis balls! My foster says I am just a happy gal, that is good with all people even kiddos! I am house broken, but I may have had a couple accidents but I am still recovering from taking care of my 5 babies for the last several weeks. They all have found their forever homes and now it’s my turn. I was a great mom but my foster promised I never ever have to do it again, which sounds perfect to me! I really love my foster home. See, I also get alone time and have my own room, I have adults and kids who play fetch with me a few times a day. They all helped me get better on the leash, to come when I was called, I am actually even starting to learn how to settle down and watch TV. I would probably like to stay here but they have some big dogs here, I just don’t like when they get in my way. My foster thinks I will much prefer to be the only dog in a home.  I think that is true at least to start. The cats here don’t bother me. Did I mention my NEED for tennis balls, oh I did, okay. Well that’s all for now. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **UPDATE**     Blaze is a ball of energy and a cuddle bug! On the go 24/7 and would be great in a home with lots of exercise and a big backyard to run and play. Due to his past, he is animal reactive and needs training and someone patient to work with him. His loves his canine brother and sister but will need supervised and slow introductions to any new dogs. He needs to be in a home with teens and up. He is a puppy always ready for a walk! He loves his toys and treats. His ball is his favorite toy! Blaze was found in freezing temps in the park, underweight and cold. He is around 9 months old. If you are an early bird, he is for you. Ready for zoomies and walks as soon as he is up and always ready to be active. Loves toys, treats, and attention. Best for kids 12 and up due to being hyper and jumping. Blaze is a smart boy and has already learned to sit within a week. He loves to cuddle with his fur siblings and play all day. Did I mention he loves to talk?! He has separation anxiety and a little bit of fear anxiety and will do well with a patient family who will have the time to spend with him and mostly be home or with him. Car rides can still be scary for him, so giving him short rides to get him used to it is helping. He is a jumper, so a fence in yard is preferable. He will be your shadow and give you lots of love!   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet the magnificent Miss Hetti. She is a playful, energy abundant Mastiff, and likely, boxer mix. She loves tummy rubs, fetch, and Benebone chew toys. Hetti thrives on multiple walks per day however can over heat quickly in higher temps. She is very strong and still learning manners with passing animals so an experienced handler and dog owner is a must. She loves greeting people but due to her size and still puppy behaviors, a house with kids over 12 is preferred. For Hetti to live her best life she should be a solo canine with a large fenced yard and an active owner willing to give her the exercise and attention she needs.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. March 7, 2026, 8:41 am
