Story
Hi, I’m Barney, a sweet, gentle boy who loves to cuddle and meet new friends. I am looking for a loving human or humans to make me part of their family. I am about 2 years old and I have a happy, calm personality. I love exploring the yard, going on walks and taking naps by the fireside. I have a beloved older foster sister that I am very good playmates with. I share her toys, borrow her clothes and follow her everywhere she goes. I love my foster family because they feed me lots of treats, play fetch with me in the yard, and give me the best head pets and scritches. I'm well behaved around the house, but I am still learning how everything works. I am a youngin' after all. The first time I saw stairs, I didn't understand how to go up or down But I have it down now. I am still a little bit shy of this big world but will be your best friend if you are gentle and slow with me at first. I learn very well with my favorite treat in the world - hot dogs! I haven't met cats yet. But so far, I am friendly and social toward other dogs, with slow and proper introductions, of course. I’ve got a whole life ahead of me and I’m eager to meet you so we can get started on it together. Apply today to meet me so I can be your new BFF. Prepare to fall in love! Adoption fee: $80. Adopt a pair: $120. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Adoption and Foster Care Application Shop our Amazon Wish List to gift us supplies we need and have them shipped directly to us. NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be. Examples: Identify these mixed breed dogs (pdf) Now, compare these canine DNA results with the survey responses to see that dog breeds cannot be visually identified, not even by the experts. Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

King is a very loving dog. He sleeps most of the day so he’s good for the working family. During the evening he love to play. He loves toys and he loves going for walks. He’s a little over a year old so he still gets that puppy excitement. He’s great with kids and other animals. He is such a lover we are just too bisy now to give him the attention he deserves.

What do you think of this face??? I've been told that I'm quite photgenic! My name is Squash I'm the life of the party! I'm charming, goofy, and always ready for fun! I feel very lucky to have been brought to FMAR when I was out running around as a stray. They are taking very good care of me and now I'm ready to find my next home. Are you looking for a happy dog to join your family? I would love an active family that can give me plenty of daily playtime and enrichment to keep me happy and healthy. I would also love to have a doggy playmate to be my new brother or sister. Do you think you can give me the home that I'm looking for? If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers all of the medical care I have received.**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
