Mi Amor is a one-year-old sweetheart who is living proof that her name, "My Love," is a perfect fit. Though she has officially graduated to young adulthood, she still sports that adorable, slightly gangly look of a dog who is still figuring out where her legs end and the floor begins. She is currently at that magical age where the chaotic puppy energy is starting to settle into a rhythmic, easygoing companionship—making her the ultimate "best of both worlds" kind of girl. Currently, this brave girl is staying in a foster home while she finishes recovering from a minor case of pneumonia and some tracheal damage. Don't let her recovery status fool you, though; she has proven to be the "world’s best patient." She takes her medications like a total champ (especially when hidden in a soft, meaty treat or a cube of cheese!) and has maintained her cheerful, affectionate spirit throughout the entire process. While she is certainly learning the art of the "grown dog chill," Mi Amor’s foster family has discovered that she hasn’t completely left her puppy days behind! She still has plenty of that delightful, chaotic energy tucked away. When she gets excited—whether it’s seeing a favorite human or hearing the word "outside"—she has a tendency to jump for joy. She absolutely loves a good romp in the yard, where she can let loose and show off her speed before coming back inside for a long nap. When she isn’t doing zoomies, Mi Amor is a bit of a teacher’s pet. She is fully house-broken and crate-trained, which will make her transition into a forever home incredibly seamless. If you enjoy a crisp morning stroll, you’ll be delighted to find that she walks wonderfully on a leash. She is content to trot right along with you, soaking in the sights and sniffing the breeze. Whether she’s being a calm sidekick on a walk or a playful goofball in the backyard, Mi Amor is ready to fill your life with love.

I am available through HSMO`s Foster-to-Adopt program! I am being treated for heartworm disease, and because the treatment can take a few months, I am able to continue my treatment in your home, rather than stay in the shelter during that time. Once my treatment is over, we can finalize the adoption, making me a permanent member of your family. HSMO will provide all the food, medication, and veterinary care during the foster period, and the staff at HSMO is happy to answer any questions you might have about heartworms. You will need to bring me to the HSMO shelter to see the veterinarian as needed, and to avoid complications from the treatment, I need to be kept as quiet as possible. That means no rough housing or playing hard with people or other pets. I will need to be on leash outside at all times and can only take short, 15-minute walks three to four times a day. However, the good news is that once my treatment is over, I can run and play and be silly again!
