Story
Meet Shadow, an energetic little shortstack whose adorable ears and excited tippy taps will simply melt your heart! Shadow came to us from a shelter down south and spent a few weeks in isolation while being treated for skin issues. His physical discomfort and the frequent medical handling required made shelter life stressful for him, but now that he’s cleared and ready for walks, doggie playdates, and hanging out in cozy offices, he’s showing us how smart and silly he can be! He enjoys his training sessions, and has never met a squeaky toy he didn’t like. Once comfortable, Shadow struggles to maintain his manners when he gets excited (nobody ever taught him the rules!). We think he’d do best with a predictable daily routine and varying outlets for his physical and mental energy - some of his favorites include sniffy walks, treat-dispensing toys, and training his brain! With some patience and a sense of humor, Shadow will be an entertaining and rewarding training project.

Story
Once was a momma — now a friend looking for a family of her own to love her Meet Rosie – a sweet, soulful girl ready for her fresh start! This beautiful 3-year-old, 40 lb shepherd mix was left behind as a stray in rural Texas, found caring for a litter of puppies (you may remember the adorable Lion King litter—Rosie is their amazing mama!). She’s been through a lot, including heartworm treatment, and now she’s healthy, happy, and ready to head north in search of her forever home. Rosie is a gentle and loving companion who just needs a little time to feel safe—once she does, her personality blossoms After about a week in her foster home, she transformed into a snuggly, playful sweetheart. She loves to run, play with toys, and has a funny habit of collecting shoes (don’t worry—she doesn’t chew them, she just builds a little pile of her fav treasures!). She’s also got a calm, chill side—perfect for someone who works from home. She enjoys snoozing next to the resident dog and is great on leash, happy to go for walks and sniff everything along the way. Rosie is still building confidence in new situations and around new people. This gal can be timid & would thrive as a second dog in a home with another calm, confident pup, or with someone who has experience with shy dogs. If you’re patient, loving, and ready to watch a gentle soul blossom, Rosie will absolutely steal your heart. crste trained & housebrokenspayed, vaccinated & microchipped————————Rosie is available for adoption in October  *Please note: We're an all-volunteer organization, and incomplete applications cannot be processed.* If you're interested in adopting a GBP rescue PAL, please submit an application through the link below. Story
Sally was transferred to the NHSPCA from our friends at the Humane Society of the United States in Maryland. This extremely loveable girl found herself at a struggling Louisiana rescue with no adoption prospects, so she came to New Hampshire to find her perfect people. Sally is very clearly a Cattle Dog mix - she is insanely smart, very alert, and loves to herd the other dogs during doggie play groups. Adopters should be prepared for a dog that needs lots of physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. Cattle Dogs are a working breed and as such, they always want a job to do. In her last home, Sally gained some considerable weight and should be exercised and have a diet plan to get her back to a healthy weight. ACDs are also known for attempting to herd people, especially children, so if you have kids in the family, be sure that you're OK with a dog that nips at people in an attempt to control movement. It's not naughtiness, it's what Cattle Dogs are born to do! Sally is a delightful, snuggly girl who loves to carry her plus toys around in her mouth. She is going to make someone very happy, especially if they are a Cattle Dog person! If you think you could be that person, please stop by the Adoption Center's OPEN HOURS EVERY DAY EXCEPT WEDNESDAY from 11am to 4pm, or contact the NHSPCA at info@nhspca.org Primary Color: Red Merle Weight: 27 Age: 3yrs 5mths 3wks

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. We try to post videos for each pet so you can really get to know them. If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at... diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744. Meet Haumea – The Heart You Don’t Want to Overlook Haumea may not turn every head at first glance. She’s not the kind of dog most people would call “fancy,” and she doesn’t need to be. Her beauty lives deeper — in her eyes, in her steady presence, and in the gentle joy that radiates from her heart. If you pause for just a moment and truly look at her, you’ll see it — the quiet grace of a soul that’s pure, loyal, and endlessly loving. Haumea stays right by your side, as if she’s always known that companionship is life’s greatest gift. Her heart is joy in its most honest form. She gives it freely and asks for nothing more than a place to belong. Whoever looks past the surface and chooses this beautiful girl will gain more than a dog — they’ll gain comfort, laughter, and a love so constant it will change their days forever. Adopting Haumea won’t just be a good decision. It will be the best one you ever make.   Please email us at diane@ulpr.org and request an application. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 9, 2025, 1:23 am
