Story
Gunnar8 Years Old Lab/Cattle Dog Mix**Medical** Gunnar is an easygoing fella ready to find a new home. This gentle boy enjoys a nice neighborhood stroll and a nice long nap afterwards. Gunnar has lived with kids and small animals in his history and could likely do so again. He might be able to live with another low energy dog, but he prefers not to share his favortite things so good management would be important. Gunnar is on medication for hypothyroidism and is being managed well. He also has a hot spot that we are helping treat. A good relationship with a vet will be important for this friend. If you are looking for a chill guy to spend your days with Gunnar could be the one for you! If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in - and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Story
Meet Loki, a vibrant almost 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix. He is a healthy, boy, neutered, and well-mannered, making him an ideal companion. Loki thrives outdoors, enjoying activities like hiking, running, and agility training. His sharp mind and quick learning abilities, combined with his strong work ethic inherited from his Australian Cattle Dog lineage, make him an eager-to-please working dog. While he prefers a home without toddlers, older children who understand his needs would suit him well. Loki gets along with other dogs but unsure about feline friends. With his tri-colored coat and charming ear quirks, Loki is a handsome fellow. He is used to owners working during the week but appreciates midday outdoor break. Located in Massachusetts, Loki seeks a loving family who can provide him attention, exercise, and companionship. Reach out to meet Loki and discuss his potential new home!

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper introsGood with cats: UnknownGood with kids: Yes, 13+Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesGrizzly James is a really good boy who loves to snuggle and hang out with his humans. In fact, he thinks he is a lapdog despite his size!Grizzly James has yet to meet a toy he doesn’t like, but he is an expert at surgically deconstructing stuffed toys, so he is better suited for tougher toys like bones, Kongs, rubber rings, etc. When he is not entertaining himself with toys he likes to make very silly noises to get your attention and remind you that he is nearby in case you have the sudden urge to give him belly rubs.Grizzly James is extremely smart and considers himself to be a mischievous mastermind. His fosters have noted he sometimes buries his food bowl under his blanket to try and fool his humans into thinking he hasn’t received dinner yet and should be fed again. He is a lovable goofball and is looking for someone that will enjoy his antics!Grizzly James is crate trained and house trained. He also knows ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and is currently working on mastering ‘down’. He loves car rides and will try to rest his snoot on your shoulder despite being in the backseat and buckled into his car harness.Grizzly James has shown lots of improvement when walking on a leash over the last few months. He is not a ‘puller’, but will try to chase after cars (or those pesky squirrels) from time to time and uses all his body weight to lunge into the move. He is deceptively strong for such a compact fellow, so a firm hand on the leash is a must when waddling him about town. His current foster walks him on a transitional lead and has found this to be a key to success when walking him on a leash.Grizzly James is so excited to find his forever family! Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. She is a curious and shy pup who is learning to break out of her shell each day. Inez’s ideal home would include an active, patient family who is committed to continuing her training and helping her build her confidence.Inez gets along well with dogs and may need some extra space and time to get to know them. She is learning her manners and taking cues from others. Once she makes friends, Inez loves to play with other dogs and would thrive in a mentally-stimulating environment or agility classes. Inez would do just fine with cats and dog-savvy children in the home. She is crate trained and housetrained. Inez goes into the crate with no issue and sleeps in their overnight without a peep. She has worked really hard on her potty training and is accident-free on a regular routine and schedule. Inez is doing great on her leash and continuing to navigate the world more confidently each day. Inez has so much love to give and would make a great addition to any family! Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Story
Simon is a one year old male pointy-eared Heeler/Shepherd mix. He was found as a stray but he was obviously someone's dog at some point as he is good inside and loves kids. Sweetheart!! Playful and minds well. Someone has worked with him to come to you for “loving” and then he will go lay down. He is great on a leash. Weighs about 40 lbs. He's been in a foster home with ten other dogs and gets along with everyone. He's safe with cats. Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp. Available 5/20/24.

Story
MEET BLU! Blu arrived on our doorstep as a stray, but we have gathered very valuable information about how he does in a home from time he spent in foster. He can be trusted when left alone, he is fully potty trained in a home, and he is friendly with all humans and even older children! He is extremely intellegent and food motivated, and picks up new skills before you even put them down! He loves to hang out outdoors and would make an excellent hiking or running partner to encourage his owner to get outside. He would even love to participate in a competitive dog sport like agility! He is friendly with other dogs, but does best with young active dogs who have a similar play style to him. His fosters have done a great job with crate training him and teaching him to walk respectfully on a leash. Despite his breed he would do well in a variety of environments, including apartments as long as he gets the exercise and stimulation he needs.Blu is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Blu or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.
