Shadow is a sweet, medium-sized 10-year-old mixed breed who is looking for a second chance after losing the only family she's ever known. When our grandparents passed away, Shadow's world changed overnight. She is currently being cared for, but she isn't thriving and deserves a home where she can truly settle in and feel loved again. Shadow absolutely loves people and gets so excited to see her favorite humans. She has a wonderful mix of playful energy and laid-back companionship, making her the perfect buddy for walks, relaxing at home, and everything in between. To be her happiest self, Shadow needs to be the only pet (no cats or other dogs possibly) in a home. She would do best with mature owners who can give her the calm, stable environment she needs. At 10 years old, Shadow still has so much love, loyalty, and joy to share. We're hoping to find someone willing to open their heart to a dog who simply wants to belong again. She really is the sweetest girl!

Story
Millie is 3 years old. She is very smart, sweet, and loyal. She is mainly red heeler with a very strong instinct to control things around her. We have been working with her on leash reactivity and desensitization to triggers and she is making progress. We do not have a fenced-in property so we must walk her, or put her on a tie-out to do her business. She is trained to walk with a gentle leader and an Easy walk harness. While she does not pull while walking, she does gets excited when encountering other dogs, and we have many in the neighborhood. We have a sidewalk on our property and many people are now riding motorized bikes/scooters/skateboards that spook her without any warning. Sometimes she will pull very hard when encountering other dogs or fast moving objects. My husband and I both have physical limitations and are unable to walk her and risk further injury. It breaks our hearts to rehome her but Millie needs another loving home with a fenced-in property so she can run.

Just like all of our puppies he was placed in a wonderful foster home (not shelter) receiving LOVE and proper socialization, basic commands and started on their potty training. He is GREAT with children as well as other dogs, cats and kids. He loves toys and cuddles. He will make a Great family pet. Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee.
