This friend has just arrived to us on transport from a high-intake shelter partner! When our friends are new to us, we are often unsure of their full background. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and update their bio with more information as we learn. They are pending interactions with animals until they have been cleared by our vet. Please note that we often are unsure of house, crate, car, and leash training status upon arrival. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Meet Roxanne! This sweet cattle dog mix is such a cuddle bug! At just four months old, she is already keeping her indoor area clean and goes outside to potty. Roxanne does well with other dogs and cats and loves attention. At this time, she is not a fan of being crated but does well outside of her crate. Roxanne’s current foster says she is absolutely precious and she could just hold her all day long. Meet Ruca! Ruca is a 6 year old pure bred cattle dog. My boyfriend got Ruca as a puppy with a former partner. 4 years ago they split and have been no contact. Last week, we got a call from a vets office that some very kind folk found Ruca tied to a pole in center city. We quickly swooped in to bring her home and make sure she was safe while we got to the bottom of how she got there. Ruca’s mom is no longer able to care for Ruca. Ruca is so very sweet and deserves a home where she can get all the love and attention she needs. She’s a dream on the leash. She’s sweet and smart and gentle. Ruca has that cattle dog energy, but settles at your feet when it’s time to relax or get some work done. She loves a tennis ball. She rides in the car quietly and politely. She greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail. I would love to keep Ruca, but I already have a dog and my lease doesn’t allow for a second and I am not in a position to move. She’s up to date on all vaccines.

We rescued Pickles from the BVSPCA at 3 months old. He is a sweet and playful pup, and so loyal to his favorite person! He is housebroken, and understands commands, and still has his puppy energy. He has a gastro issue that we have been trying to get to the bottom of. His blood panel was fine, but the vet thinks it might be an inflammatory bowel issue. He is on a specialized prescription food, and takes probiotics daily, but still gets diarreah. He also is very very into eating poop that it has become an issue for us with another dog. Pickles would probably be best being the only dog in the household, and needs someone willing to help him get through this gastro issue. The vet has said he could grow out of it, but can't guarantee that. We love him so much, and have really bonded with him, but our senior aged dog struggles with his behavior. He loves playing fetch, and snuggling. He still needs some basic training, but overall is a good dog. We want him to find a loving home!
