Meet Marjorie! Marjorie is a beautiful brindle pit bull mix, about 42 pounds, at 2 years old, and is so deserving of a forever home! She has been through a lot in her short life including being a wonderful mama to a 9-pup litter in the fall of 2023 around the time she was rescued by Saving Hope, plus overcoming heartworms and a bad respiratory virus that nearly took her life. Marjorie is stronger and healthier than ever now; her puppies found homes, now she is eagerly waiting for hers!She does wonderfully in her crate at night and during the day when her foster mom is at work. As she is not destructive, once she is settled into her forever home (generally 3 weeks to 3 months depending on the dog), she can be left out of her kennel. As with so many dogs, she is naturally nervous in new situations, and thus needs continued work on building confidence. She thrives with clear direction from her person and positive feedback when she does the right thing – she tries her very best to follow all the rules! She has the cutest tippy-tap dance when excited, waiting for a treat, or when she’s working on a skill.While there are no children in her current foster home, she loves everyone and would likely do well with children 10+ as she appreciates her space being respected and a calm household would help her adjust faster.Marjorie loves nothing more than to keep busy managing squirrels and lizards in the yard. This is her main energy outlet currently, so a backyard would be ideal. She needs at least a 6-foot tall fence when off leash because this girl is athletic… anyone want an agility dog? She might be it! She exhibits prey drive tendencies so cats, small dogs or other small animals are not a good fit. She takes breaks to sunbathe and would be content to do this nonstop, but she listens well when it’s time to come inside.Marjorie is threshold trained and is working on leash skills for walks using a prong collar and cues/guidance to walk alongside her human. She gets excited at the sight of other creatures but will sit on command until her person is ready to go. When it’s time to rest, she is very respectful of furniture but if she is invited up, she will be more than happy to cuddle.Marjorie is very quiet unless she is barking at a squirrel or playing with her foster brother, who she has become quite close to (a boxer/pit bull mix). Meet Billy Jo!Billy Jo is the sweetest 2-year-old American Blue Heeler mix pup. She was found as a stray, with her litter of puppies. She has been spayed and his up-to-date with all her vaccines. She was found to be heartworm positive and went through heartworm treatment. She has completed her heartworm treatment and can not wait to play with her foster sisters again. She is house trained and does not need a crate. She is non destructive and will sleep on the floor or couch all day while her fosters are at work. She loves everyone she meets, adults and children. She is a tall girl, but she does not jump up when she meets new people.Because of her size, apartment living would not be appropriate for this girl. A home with other dogs would be fine, but Billy Jo would also thrive as the only dog in the home. After everything she has been through, Billy Jo is ready to find her furever home. Meet Brandon!Brandon is an sweet calm old soul, who was found as a stray in Dallas after being abandon. Brandon is thought to be a American Blue Heeler/Border Collie/Aussie/Cattle mix and about 2 and 1/2 years old. When he was found he had an old injury to his back leg, for which he has now had surgically corrected. He is doing very well following surgery, but he still has a limp every now and then. He did test positive for heartworm, for which he received treatment and has since completed without issues. Brandon gets along well with others. He loves to play, loves pets and loves attention. He is not a fan of car rides and does not like jumping up on anything. He is house trained, neutered and current with all his vaccines. He still needs some training with leash walking. After wandering the streets of Dallas, Brandon is ready to find his forever home and settle into a life of soaking up all the attention and pets he can get. Abel is a 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Pitbull/Labrador Retriever Mix. He is currently at home with his first owners who are looking to rehome him. He loves chasing balls and going on long walks. He's also a super cuddly dog but doesn't like moving blankets. He is potty trained and will yawn and boop you to let you know he needs to go outside. He also boops you when he's hungry or wants attention. He's super smart and knows a lot of tricks. He's still working on crate training but he understands the purpose of them. He is selectively social and has some anxiety around new people, but after a while he gets use to them. He'd do really well in a home with another dog as he had lived with a chihuahua for roughly 2 years. He also grew up with two cats and is very gentle with them. He has some trouble with bigger dogs as he wasn't properly socialized around them and has a hard time understanding how to play with them. Although a big dog who is gentle would be good.
