Double trouble has entered the chat. Meet Scarlett (left) and Rhett (right), our three-month-old heeler pups and full-time chaos coordinators. These two are already rocking their puppy manners, which mostly means they’re cute enough to get away with everything. They love kids, adore other dogs, and are always ready for their next adventure… or snack… or nap… or snack after their nap. Being full heelers, they’re whip-smart, active, and will thrive with adopters who appreciate a dog that keeps life interesting (and your step count high). Scarlett & Rhett are brand new to Cody’s Friends Rescue, so if you don’t see them listed yet, just select “A New Arrival” on the application at www.codysfriendsrescue.org. Warning: side effects of adoption may include laughter, stolen socks, and a permanent shadow that follows you everywhere. Cody's adopts dogs in the greater DFW area and does not adopt puppies under the age of 6 months into apartment homes.   https://bit.ly/codys_adoption_application. ##2672091##

Meet Luz — her name means *Light*, and that’s exactly what she brings into every room she enters!  Luz and her mama, Luna (*Moon*), were rescued from a rural shelter where their chances weren’t looking good. But thanks to a kind-hearted foster who stepped up, this little beam of sunshine is now safe, loved, and ready for her forever home!   Luz is about a year old, weighs 23 lbs, and is the perfect petite pup. She’s loving, playful, curious, and full of joy. She’s great with kids, housetrained, spayed, and gets along well with other dogs.  Luz is the kind of girl who will happily snuggle on the couch after a good play session and follow you around just to be near.   Ready to let some *light* into your life?  Apply to adopt Luz at [codysfriendsrescue.org](https://www.codysfriendsrescue.org)   #AdoptLuz #CodysFriendsRescue #RescueDog #PetitePup #DFWRescue #LightOfMyLife ##2077396##

Story
Meet Dandy, the sweetest little Texas Cowpoke! Dandy is a bright, affectionate 1.2-year-old Blue Heeler mix. Weighing in at just over 30 pounds, she’s the perfect size—not too big, not too small. She’s smart, athletic, and full of personality. Dandy loves playing fetch, tug, and learning new tricks. Once she’s all tuckered out from a day of play, she loves snuggling up on her bed and relaxing near her humans. Dandy is very people-oriented and forms strong bonds with the humans around her. She follows her foster mom and dad like their sweet, happy-go-lucky little shadow. She’s happiest with structure, routine, and quality one-on-one time. She is house trained, crate trained, walks well on leash, and is highly food-motivated. She already knows sit, stay, down, shake, turn, and play dead—and she loves learning more. As a herding breed mix, Dandy can be mouthy and vocal during play and may lightly nip at heels, hands, or toes—this is something an experienced owner will recognize and know how to redirect appropriately or with basic training she would thrive. She is very gentle. Dandy had a difficult start in life and is still building confidence, so she would do best in a calm, adult-only household with experienced dog owners who understand herding breeds and value positive structure and consistency. Dandy would thrive as the only pet, where she can fully relax and not feel the need to compete for attention. With the right home, she will be a deeply loyal, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be part of her person’s world. She loves her toys but she destroys them as most young dogs do but it sure is fun she says! She’s a vocal girlie and will TELL you when she’s upset through growls and grumbles-it's her way of talking and communicating. That said, no mattern how she grumbles or growls, she has never once bit anyone or made us feel unsafe. We think Dandy was abandoned by her former owners or came from a backyard breeder situation because she has some emotional trauma,  but came house trained and knowing sit. She is a bit of a scaredy cat and an anxious girlie, which we’re working so hard on with training and love. Dandy is still a bit scared on walks and needs encouragement to get out the door, but generally enjoys it once she gets going. She is gaining self esteeem/confidence daily. ##2620616##

IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER HOME!   Sweet Skye Skye is a sweet, gentle, low-to-moderate energy Heeler who thrives on closeness and security. Her energy level is best described as 4 out of 10. Skye loves to cuddle, sleep on the bed and be near her person. She is housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash, and does best in a harness, which she already uses successfully. Skye enjoys car rides, is unaffected by storms, sirens, or loud noises, and does well with routine. Skye does well with other dogs and currently lives successfully with another cattle dog. A calm, confident male canine companion could be a plus in the right home. Skye occasionally struggles with anxiety in new situations. Skye has NOT shown food aggression or resource guarding, but due to lack of socialization on our part, (original owners) she can become overwhelmed in newsituations. Skye will become more confident with the right person or family. We know that because she is still so young she would thrive and be much happier in a different environment. Skye does very well on quiet walking paths. With decompression time we firmly believe more experienced owners will help her come out of her shell and enjoy doing more fun activities. Skye would thrive in a home that offers Herding-breed experienced adults. Older children, 12+ may be ok. We’d like a home for Skye where someone is home during the day; She’s very motivated by being with her people. We also think that she would do great with a confident, male companion dog. If you think that little Skye could be a good fit and great addition to your family please complete our application on the website below and then: TEXT SARA:214-549-9905 www.dashdog.org General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Story
Meet Kody! A thoughtful eight-year-old Australian Shepherd currently in Haltom City, TX, whose tricolor coat and soulful eyes reflect the loyal heart of a pup ready for purpose and connection. Kody is the kind of companion who listens with his whole being and feels deeply, he’s more than just a pretty face with a herder’s instincts; he’s a steady, sensitive soul who longs to bond with his person. While he might not herd sheep, he’s always herding love, sticking close to the one he trusts most. And once you're his person? You're really his! Expect head nudges for butt scratches, quiet companionship, and the joy of being followed around like you're the most interesting thing in the world, because to Kody, you are. Raised in an environment that didn’t quite match his needs, Kody has come a long way. He’s conquered his fear of everyday noises (ice makers are no longer public enemy #1!) and while he still seeks a quiet space during thunderstorms or fireworks, he no longer panics. He’s never had an accident indoors, uses a dog door with ease, and hasn’t touched a trash can, but yes, he may sneak off with a pair of laundry-day undies if left unsupervised. A little mischief wrapped in a well-mannered package! Kody is dog-friendly, with a special connection to a Boxer/Pitbull mix he’s spent time with, and he’s shown calm curiosity around a baby. He has also been around a Dachshund mix, who comically took on the bossy role! Kody took it all in stride, never reacting with aggression. He doesn’t crave toys but will happily destroy a squeaky one in five minutes flat! He knows basic commands like sit, paw, and lay down, and thrives on routine and gentle connection. Car rides longer than a mile or two make him queasy, so he's happiest staying local. This clever boy needs a life filled with structure, activity, and a "job", be it hiking buddy, daily walking partner, or ranch hand in training. He’s known to be a bit of an escape artist, so a secure yard would be highly recommended, along with patient guidance to continue building confidence through positive reinforcement. Could your lifestyle offer Kody the purpose and partnership he's been waiting for? If so, email adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet this remarkable pup ready to start his next chapter with you!
