Story
Meet Marjorie! Marjorie is a beautiful brindle pit bull mix, about 42 pounds, at 2 years old, and is so deserving of a forever home! She has been through a lot in her short life including being a wonderful mama to a 9-pup litter in the fall of 2023 around the time she was rescued by Saving Hope, plus overcoming heartworms and a bad respiratory virus that nearly took her life. Marjorie is stronger and healthier than ever now; her puppies found homes, now she is eagerly waiting for hers! She does wonderfully in her crate at night and during the day when her foster mom is at work. As she is not destructive, once she is settled into her forever home (generally 3 weeks to 3 months depending on the dog), she can be left out of her kennel. As with so many dogs, she is naturally nervous in new situations, and thus needs continued work on building confidence. She thrives with clear direction from her person and positive feedback when she does the right thing – she tries her very best to follow all the rules! She has the cutest tippy-tap dance when excited, waiting for a treat, or when she’s working on a skill. While there are no children in her current foster home, she loves everyone and would likely do well with children 10+ as she appreciates her space being respected and a calm household would help her adjust faster.Marjorie loves nothing more than to keep busy managing squirrels and lizards in the yard. This is her main energy outlet currently, so a backyard would be ideal. She needs at least a 6-foot tall fence when off leash because this girl is athletic… anyone want an agility dog? She might be it! She exhibits prey drive tendencies so cats, small dogs or other small animals are not a good fit. She takes breaks to sunbathe and would be content to do this nonstop, but she listens well when it’s time to come inside.Marjorie is threshold trained and is working on leash skills for walks using a prong collar and cues/guidance to walk alongside her human. She gets excited at the sight of other creatures but will sit on command until her person is ready to go. When it’s time to rest, she is very respectful of furniture but if she is invited up, she will be more than happy to cuddle.Marjorie is very quiet unless she is barking at a squirrel or playing with her foster brother, who she has become quite close to (a boxer/pit bull mix). She is somewhat dog selective and has some resource guarding tendencies surrounding speci

Meet Geneva!Geneva is one of the sweetest dogs her foster family has ever met. She currently lives with another dog and two young children, fitting right in with both. Playful and affectionate, Geneva loves spending time with her people and responds well to directions. She is house-trained and would do great in a home with or without another dog.Her foster family found her abandoned on the side of the road after she had been hit by a car. With lots of care and love, she made a full recovery, even undergoing hip replacement surgery. Now, she runs and plays just like any other 1 year old dog. However, it’s recommended to be mindful around much larger or aggressive dogs to ensure she stays safe. This sweet, resilient girl is ready for a forever family that can give her all the love and time she needs. To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. Story
Meet Dustin!Dustin is an almost 2 year old Mini Australian Shepherd, who is looking for a very patient and loving home. He`s quite timid around new people and surroundings and will need time to decompress and come out of his shell.Dustin is VERY dog friendly and loves to play with his friends. His little wiggle butt is adorable with his friends. He`s been exposed to chickens and would love to herd them if offered the chance! However, he`s unsure of cats. Before rescue, he was herding cattle on a ranch, but now enjoys the calm rest of a loving home. He needs a secure fenced yard to keep his herding tendencies safe at home.Dustin is house trained and will let you know by pacing the back door or chatting about how he needs to go outside. He really loves his crate! Like so so much. He naps the days away, safely tucked inside with the door open, and then sleeps all night - without a peep!Dustin is timid around new people and would benefit from a home either without kids or with older kids who can respect his space. He prefers women and it would be best if his forever home had another dog so he can learn how to be a dog.To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt. It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don`t get to all of the inquires but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!
