Hi there, my name is Zaika and I am a sweet girl who is looking for a forever home to call my own! I can be a little bit shy at first and I might need a little bit of reassurance, but once you gain my trust I am the sweetest girl ever and I can show you all of my cool tricks like sit, down, and shake! Dogs? Sure! I have done well with other dogs and you are more than welcome to bring your dogs to meet me if you'd like, but it is not required! Cats? Hmm... I'm going to have to say no thanks! I have interacted with cats before and I am not a huge fan of them. If you have any kiddos in the home I don't think I'll mind them! However, since I can be a bit shy at first I will need to meet any younger kiddos in the home before I leave to make sure I am comfortable with them! Come on in and meet me any day between 12PM-6PM at 2400 Lone Star Dr!

Story
Hi I'm Spike! I am a really sweet boy looking for a place to call home! Come visit me this Saturday at the Dallas Farmers Market from 10AM-2PM! The address is 920 S Harwood St, Dallas, TX 75201 I'm super sweet and would love to meet you! The staff say I already know sit, learning to walk nice, love my harness, and I'm very treat motivated. Imagine the commands and tricks I could learn with my food motivation - I'd be the star of the show and you could show off my skills!Foster Testimonial: "Spike is such a happy go lucky boy.He is friendly with people and dogs and he takes treats very gently. He is possibly house trained, as he goes potty outside right away. Spike does love snacks :) He really seemed to love getting attention, pets and scratches.. his fur is super soft and fluffy. His tongue seems to always hang out adorably. He will make a great companion and will love his forever human loyally!""He is VERY loving and easy-going-- he seeks attention and will give hugs and rest his head on your lap, giving you "puppy dog" eyes. Spike also slept in his crate at night and was quiet; he didn't chew up his bedding and kept his space clean. He's a GREAT dog and made quite a positive impact on all of us, including our dog."Dogs: I am the best with other dogs! I am super playful though so I like when my pals can keep up!Kids: I want to meet everyone so bring them in to the meet and greet. I have a lot of energy so older kiddos might be best. Come meet me any day between 12p and 6p at 2400 Lone Star Dr. Dallas TX 75212!

Our 2YO Shrek is a bit shy. Staff volunteers say he`s unsure at first but warms up shortly after. And boy does he come out of his shell! During playtime volunteers say Shrek likes to play seek--then targets (sort of hide/seek/catch/run). Shrek has been observed as waiting for other doggos to chase him then he runs. He`s a kid at heart we say..... all boy. Shrek needs someone to keep up with his energy. He likes to run and play. If you have an active lifestyle, you can engage alongside with Shrek with this level of activeness.Don`t think too long about a quality dog such as Shrek. He`s an asset and won`t stay here too long. Come adopt him today!Heartworm Status: NegativeSpayed/Neutered: Not yet, but DAS will spay/neuter them for free before adoption!Skills: I have not shown the DAS staff my special tricks yetPlaygroup: Social. Oh, hello! I’m so excited that you’re checking out my profile! I’ve had so many interesting adventures lately, but I’m really looking forward to settling down with a new family. DAS has been exciting too, and I’m still getting to know my new friends here. Do you know how HUGE this place is? There are so many new smells and people to check out! Anyway, now that you’re here to get to know more about me, I should tell you three things:1.You haven’t lived until you’ve tasted peanut butter. It’s this crazy, sticky stuff that tastes sugary and salty at the same time. Lucky you, though, I’m exactly the dog to introduce you to it if you haven’t tried it before! 2.I hog the bed. I admit it! But honestly, that just means we can snuggle closer, right? 3.I never lose at tug-o-war. Don’t believe me? Click that “Adopt Me” button and I’ll prove it!

Oh my gosh, are you here to read more about little ol’ me? Oh, where do I start! Well, I’m just a happy doggo trying to live my best life and match up with a new family. DAS is helping me search, isn’t that cool? We’re still getting to know each other, but I think we’re going to find me some great friends. I’ve let them know that I enjoy long walks on warm evenings, trying all kinds of new snacks, and chewing on doggie toys. Who doesn’t love those things? Speaking of snacks, I’ve heard that Dallas is an exciting doggie-friendly place for food enthusiasts! I’d love to check out a few patios some day with my new family. Does that sound like something you’d enjoy, too? I sure hope so… maybe you could click that “Adopt Me” button and we’ll get to know each other better!

My name is Rabbit! I am a sweet young lady looking for a place to relax and learn humans are wonderful. I would love a calm and quiet home to call my own!DREAM HOME: I'm currently learning the leash is not so scary, so a home with a fenced yard would be amazing! While I would prefer a home where I am the only doggo to spoil, I think I wouldn't mind a chill housemate, but would definitely need to meet them first! Kids? I think I would like to meet any human siblings under 12SPECIAL NOTE: While I am still learning how to be the perfect companion I am available for foster-to-adopt!APPOINTMENT TYPE: Scheduled - Email fostermed@spca.org to meet me or fill out an application!

Story
Nutmeg is approximately 4 years old and is a red heeler mix. He is always happy and gets along with other dogs and currently lives in a household with a cat. He is moderately playful and willing to follow other dogs leads. Because of his herding instinct he does nip at strangers that come on his turf. We aren't sure how he is with small children but believe he will do well with older ones. Nutmeg is  housetrained, neutered and current on his vaccines. He doesn't like being in a crate so is loose in the house or outside. We feel he would be fine in a one dog family providing his human(s) has the desire and plenty of time to spend with him. A home visit is part of his adoption process so he is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. If interested in Nutmeg please email us for a pre adoption questionnaire which is the first step in the adoption process. April 9, 2023, 12:13 am

Story
Hi there, I`m Spark Plug. I might be a bit shy when we first meet, but once I get to know you, we`ll be best friends. I`m young, full of energy, and love to play. I`m also pretty mellow, so I don`t mind just hanging out and relaxing. I get along well with some other dogs, so if you have a furry friend at home, we might become buddies. I`m still learning about the world and I`m eager to explore it with you. I promise to be a loyal and loving companion. Adopting me means gaining a friend who will cherish every moment spent with you.

Story
My name is Richard and my friends at the shelter tell me I am a very good boy. I can be a little shy at first, but if you give me a little bit of time I really come out of my shell. I walk very nicely on leash and the people here think I might be potty trained because I always try really hard to keep my room clean. I did come in as a stray, so my past is a mystery, but I'm excited to see what my future holds. Could it be with you?Foster Testimonial: "He is fantastic on a leash and might be an excellent running dog. At home, he coexisted peacefully with my cat. They could both be in the same room each doing their own thing. He did not bark but liked to know where the human was at all times and he followed me the whole time. I believe he will be an amazing bed or couch dog. I gave him permission to sit with me and he would join on his terms. He loved being on the bed by himself! He eats his medicine well, does not rush to eat, and loves chicken! While he takes time to warm up to people, he is ready to love!"Dogs: I've done well with other dogs including some small ones! I do prefer my play pretty low-contact and I generally am happy to just hang out with other dogs. If that sounds like your dog, I'm sure we will get along great. You are always welcome to bring your dog(s) to meet me before we head home.Cats: Sure! My foster home had a cat and I think they are pretty cool! Kids: Well, like I said I can be a little shy at first and since I came as a stray my friends don't know if I've ever been around kids. I think I would do well with them, but I'd like to meet kids under 5 before we go home.Come meet me today at 2400 Lone Star Drive!
