Story
Juniper here became a fast favorite when he arrived on the scene. His demeanor and size make it almost impossible to not fawn and fall quickly head over heels. You have seen his picture so you know, he is a petite, cattle-dog looking boy with sparkles in his eyes. He is friendly, attentive, playful, and absolutely adoring. And when I say petite, I mean a cute 40 lbs. We estimate he is about 8-10 months old so he may grow a touch more but we anticipate he will stay in this mid-medium size. Despite being essentially a puppy, Juniper displays some wonderfully mature qualities. He is great with other dogs, easily shares treats and toys, and has great basic on-leash manners. Juniper is fortunate and is being fostered in a loving home while he waits for his forever family. This gives him a wonderful head-start at being a well-mannered house dog. His foster family has nothing but praise for him, describing him as an easy house guest who seamlessly transitioned into their home and the routine of their other three dogs seamlessly. They have shared that he is a beautiful combination of loving and cuddly while being able to play wit the other dogs or entertain himself with a chewy or stuffie. Plus, he has taken to both house-trained and crate-training easily They summed it up by saying he is “the perfect companion!” We have introduced Juniper to new dogs to gauge his interest, comfort and playfulness with other dogs. He has shown us he is playful and friendly to dogs but prefers smaller playgroups. It seems about 4-5 dogs is his preferred group size. More than that and he will take himself out of the play and check-in with the people around him or just go for a little sniff around the yard. As for ideal home, Juniper is a great size for either house with a yard or apartment living. Whether it is a house or apartment, daily walks, mental stimulation, and socializing will be an important part of ensuring Juniper continues growing into his best self. While on your daily walks and potty breaks, be prepared to make some well-meaning small talk about your adorable, well-behaved and calm rescue dog. People seem to gravitate towards his charm and good looks and he welcomes it! He is friendly to everyone and greets with such warm affection it is easy to feel like you are part of a duo of joy-bringers when you’re together. Story
This gorgeous face belongs to none other than Melrose May! Easy on leash, so smart and trainable, incredibly loyal and loving. SO kid-friendly, a PERFECT family dog, and dog-friendly. Snuggly and playful, Melrose is such a joy to be around! We estimate that Melrose is about 2 years old and may be a Blue Lacy or Pitbull mix. The Blue Lacy is the state dog of Texas and its where the breed originates from. But with rescue, we cant guarantee age or breed since its a bit of a guess. She weighs 47 lbs and is the perfect size for couch snuggles, and neighborhood walks. Speaking of walks, shes pretty easy on the leash. Meet Melrose here: https://youtu.be/e4zsBCe8Q5M?si=HNdvyFVAubNMBJ-0 With her gorgeous blue coat and adoring eyes, Melrose May will grab attention wherever you go. But more importantly, her sweet, loving, and loyal demeanor makes her an excellent companion. This smart girl is already fully potty trained and crate trained, and shes learning commands like sit, stay, and come. Shes food motivated by just about any treat you have, and is a quick learner. Melrose is incredibly sweet and loving. She loves to cuddle with you and give plenty of kisses. Her favorite pastimes include spirited rounds of tug-of-war, gleeful squeaker toy romps, and savoring every delectable bite of her salmon treats. She is great with all humans, including the littlest ones too. Melrose warms up to new people incredibly quickly, she’s so social, has never met a stranger. She’s super tolerant, and affectionate. With kids, Melrose has endless patience, love and affection. She’s been kid-tested by our behavior team and did exceptionally well. She’s truly toddler proof and will make an amazing family dog. Melrose lives in a loving foster home where she gets the attention, care, and training to help her be the most successful she can be in her forever home. She lives with multiple other dogs ranging in weight from 40-80 lbs and she incorporated into the pack with no issues. Melrose is a playful girl and would do best with other dogs who like to play. Shes great at reading other dogs body language and she wont pester other dogs. Shes happy to just hang out with her doggy friends if thats all they want to do, but she prefers to have a moderate playmate. While she's not a big barker, she will bark sometimes if someone knocks on the door, or if other dogs are barking. For this reason, apartment living may not be the best choice for her. Melrose has been cat-tested by our behavior team, she’s a bit too interested in cats and would do best in a home without kitties. Melrose’s perfect forever home could have many dogs, or none at all- she’s great with dogs but people-focused enough to thrive as a solo-dog. Melrose does great with kids and would love some human siblings! Don’t miss out on this incredible girl. She is truly a joy to be around and is sure to bring love and laughter to anyone lucky enough to adopt her. Currently fostered in Texas, she is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to travel to her forever home in the PNW or NE areas. This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health. *To fully vet a dog in the PNW at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs. The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Introducing Jazz! 🎉 A charming one-year-old dog in search of her forever home. Jazz is a sweet and gentle girl who loves to explore and play in ponds. 🌊 Her love for playing in the pond makes her a great companion for trips to the lake or beach! Jazz absolutely adores kids, though her bouncy nature means she’d do best in a home with children aged 6 and up. She also dreams of having a doggy friend to play with! Her favourite game is fetch with the ball, and she delights in chewing on her Nu-bones. 🎾🦴 When meeting new people and dogs, Jazz approaches with curiosity and a calm demeanor. While she might be a bit reserved at first, she warms up quickly once she feels comfortable. Jazz interacts well with other dogs, showing playful interest after an initial period of adjustment. On the leash, Jazz does well but would benefit from additional training to build her confidence and improve her skills. She’s a fast learner and very treat-motivated, so she'll be a pro in no time. 🐾 Jazz is curious about cats but doesn’t seem overly fixated on them, demonstrating a respectful interest rather than any aggressive tendencies. She could live in a home with a dog-savvy cat! 🐱 This young dog is still learning about the world around her, and a patient, loving home would be ideal to help her continue to grow and thrive. If you’re ready to give Jazz the space and care she needs, she’s sure to reward you with loyalty and affection. 💖 Adoption link https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/66a7ba7d8d8cc5f9e4057063 Questions?
