Story
Hi, I'm Canyon - and just like a real canyon, I'm a little deep, a little quiet, and definitely worth the scenic route. I'm a three-year-old cattle dog who may need a moment to take in new surroundings; I prefer to survey the landscape before deciding it's safe to cross. But once I'm given time and patience, I start to find my footing. I'm curious about the world and like to observe what's going on around me, even if I'm not ready to dive right in. I'd do best in a calm, steady home that lets me move at my own pace, build trust naturally, and approach when I'm ready. With gentle guidance and consistent routines, I'll slowly carve out confidence - after all, even the most breathtaking canyons were formed with time and care. If you're patient enough to enjoy the view and let me come to you, I promise I'm a journey worth taking.*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots programPlease email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: Red Tick Weight: 30.25 Age: 3yrs 2mths 0wks

Story
Hi, I'm Paprika, a three-year-old cattle dog with a name that says "spice" and a heart that's just waiting to simmer into something wonderful. I can be a little reserved when I first meet new people-think of me as mild paprika at the start-but once I feel a bit more comfortable, my sweet and affectionate side starts to season the room. I love being close to my people, soaking up attention, and I've even been known to toss out a playful bow when the mood is right. Shelter life has me a little nervous right now, so I'm hoping to find a calm, patient home where I can take my time getting comfortable and building trust. With a kind person, some gentle encouragement, and a steady routine, I think my personality will really start to spice things up in the best way. If you're looking for a loyal companion with just the right dash of sweetness and spice, I might be your Paprika.*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots programPlease email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 34.7 Age: 3yrs 7mths 2wks

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Jazzper! I’m a 5-year-old male Aussie mix with a big heart and a sharp mind. I’ve been with one family since I was a puppy and now I’m ready for a new forever home. While I didn’t get much early exposure to other dogs, I grew up absolutely loving people. I bond deeply with my humans and enjoy being part of their daily life. New dogs make me uncomfortable, so I’m reactive to unfamiliar dogs and will need to be the only pet in my forever home—but trust me, I have more than enough love and personality to fill it. I thrive when I’m active and engaged. Walks and hikes are some of my favorite things, and I do best with a person who enjoys getting outside and can give me both physical exercise and mental stimulation every day. I’m a herding breed mix, after all—my brain likes a job! I’m already housetrained, kennel trained, and muzzle trained, which helps me stay safe and successful in the world while I keep learning. My ideal forever family will be experienced, patient, and committed to helping me be my best self. I should live in a home without kids under 12, and I need someone who will continue my obedience training with a dedicated trainer who understands reactive herding dogs. With the right structure, guidance, and consistency, I shine. If you’re an active person looking for a loyal companion who’s eager to work, learn, and adventure by your side, I might just be your perfect match. Could you be the family for me? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Bonded Senior Sweethearts Looking for a Soft Place to Land    Miss Mayze (9, tan) and Serena Marie (7, speckled) are two loving senior girls searching for a forever home — together. After their beloved owner passed away, they found themselves in rescue, and now they’re simply hoping for comfort, stability, and a family with a true heart of gold to help them live out their golden years side by side.   Miss Mayze – The Gentle Old Lady   Miss Mayze is a sweet, older soul who prefers a calm and peaceful home. She’s low energy, housetrained, and coexists beautifully with other dogs and cats. She enjoys the simple things — especially a comfy bed and a quiet place to rest near her people.   She is hard of hearing and has some difficulty getting around, and she will need a daily liver supplement to help her continue living her best life. Miss Mayze is in her golden chapter and is looking for a family who will love and cherish her through the remainder of her journey on earth.   Serena Marie – The Sweet Companion   Serena Marie is a gentle, playful 7-year-old who is also housetrained and wonderful with other dogs and cats. While she’s not overly active, she does need a committed adopter who will help her return to a healthy weight with proper diet and regular exercise.   She’ll thrive with routine, encouragement, and daily walks — and she’ll reward you with affection and loyalty.   Why Adopt a Senior?   Senior dogs are the hidden treasures of rescue. They’re past the puppy chaos, already housetrained, and deeply grateful for love and stability. What you see is what you get — steady companionship, calm energy, and hearts full of devotion.   Miss Mayze and Serena Marie must stay together. They’ve already lost their person; we won’t let them lose each other.   If you have a peaceful home, a soft couch, and a compassionate heart ready for two deserving senior ladies, these girls are waiting to give you their quiet, unconditional love.   If you'd like to meet Miss Mayze and Serena Marie, please apply here: https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 6:23 pm

Story
Meet Vaca Female DOB: 4/4/2020 Weight: 65 lbs Breed: Kelpie / Terrier Mix Spayed (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Vaca is a survivor in the truest sense—and yet, somehow, she’s still one of the most loving souls you could ever meet. She was hit by a car and carries some physical scars from her past, but what’s remarkable is that her spirit was never broken. Instead of fear, she chose love. Instead of shutting down, she stayed open, gentle, and trusting. Today, she stands strong, healthy, and ready for a family who will finally give her the life she deserves. Personality Vaca is sweet, resilient, and incredibly loving. She has a calm but steady presence and forms deep bonds with her people. There’s a softness to her that you don’t often see—she appreciates love in a way that feels genuine and earned. She enjoys being near her people and brings a comforting, grounded energy into the home. Despite everything she’s been through, she continues to trust and love wholeheartedly. Breed Info As a Kelpie / Terrier mix, Vaca carries a unique combination of traits: The Kelpie’s intelligence, loyalty, and awareness The Terrier’s determination and personality This makes her a dog who is attentive, adaptable, and connected to her people. She will enjoy regular walks and engagement but also settles nicely into a home environment. Ideal Home Vaca would thrive in a loving, stable home where she is treated as part of the family. She doesn’t need perfection—just someone who will see past her scars and recognize the incredible dog she is. Owner Responsibilities Vaca will need routine, care, and consistency. Like all dogs, she requires proper nutrition, exercise, and ongoing veterinary care. Most importantly, she needs a family who will commit to her for life. Things to Consider Her past does not define her—but it is part of her story. Please ensure your home, time, and finances are ready for the responsibility of a dog. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, Vaca will truly blossom. Veterinary Care Vaca is fully vetted, but we always recommend bringing her to your own veterinarian after adoption to continue her care. Important Note Vaca is an indoor family dog. She is not to be chained or left outside.
