Perth-Australian Shepard male, ~ 1-2 yr. (July 2024) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for application Perth was a stray in a rural area. A young family took him in, to give him safety while they looked for his family. No one was found and they've reached out to Rescue to see if we can help Perth get his very own family. He's been living a family life, with small children. The family said he's typical of his breeding, high energy and smart! He will enjoy a home with someone who understands his needs for exercise and stimulation for his mental well being. A great hiking, running partner...maybe some agility! Perth's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Please include your location and a phone number for future communication.

Story
Ophelia is a super sweet, gorgeous dog who adores people. She's great with other dogs (but could also be on her own). She is housebroken and smart. She would thrive in a training class as she's an eager learner. She is @40 lbs and we estimate 2 years old. Aussies generally make excellent watchdogs and are known for their playful and affectionate natures.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 19, 2023, 12:13 am

Story
5 month old Opal is a 17 pound Miniature Australian Shepherd mix and eager for her furever home! We expect her to be between 30-40 pounds when she's done growing! She’s already a star in her puppy classes. She loves literally every human ever - young, old, man, woman - she doesn’t discriminate and wants to be best friends with everyone and will implore you to give her scratches and belly rubs. In fact, regardless of what’s going on, she’ll pretty much stop in her tracks if a belly rub is being offered. She is super smart and treat-motivated, so she’s a very quick learner. In puppy class, the instructor will often use her to demonstrate how to ask for a new behavior because Opal is sure to pick it up so quickly. She’s already doing great with so many cues including if you so much as say her name a certain way or clear your throat, she will automatically presume a default lay down position; she knows “touch” (a way of teaching “come”) and “place” (setting out a mat without you saying a word and she’ll go to sit/lay down on the mat) plus many more cues. She can learn just about any cue with treat motivation! She’s also doing great with loose-leash walking. Like most pups her age she is in her teething phase, but she’s not destructive. She has gone for the low-hanging shoe or sock, but loses interest pretty quickly and hasn’t destroyed anything in the house at all. At five months old, she certainly has her bursts of puppy energy, but she also has an amazing “off” switch, both on command (as mentioned above with the learned cues using treats) and naturally as she will chill out for a long time after her walks. Her family should be active and enjoy taking her for walks/exercise. She has even had her first creek swim and would enjoy more opportunities for water play. She loves playing in the overflow water from an open fire hydrant like no one’s business! Opal is very affectionate and loves sleeping next to her person or in their knee nook when napping on the couch. She currently sleeps in her crate next to the human bed at night. She enters her crate on command, as well as of her own volition when she’s ready for a nap throughout the day. While we always recommend slow and proper introductions, so far Opal has always been chill around cats with no barking, chasing, or other overly-interested behavior.Opal can get overwhelmed when meeting new dogs, but with proper introductions, she really loves to make new friends, have a buddy to play with, and will become the bounciest, most playful little pup! She’s probably not a dog-park kind of dog, but would love a family that properly introduces her to a roster of go-to buddies, so she can have playdates with familiar friends.Opal may have experienced some scarcity early in life as she has displayed possessiveness over what she perceives to be high-value foods. She’s never exhibited that behavior when it comes to training treats, kibble, yak chews, several other yummies, or toys, but there are some “special” yummies she resource guards. While she’s working on learning that she has everything she needs and that there’s no need to be overprotective, it’s best for her to be the only full-time dog in the home or be slowly introduced to the resident dogs & eat everything completely separately (in crate) as well as not be allo, so that she doesn’t have to stress over the fear of not having enough. She has resource-guarded against the resident dog when it comes to human food dropped by the resident toddler, so even though Opal gets along with all humans, she would probably do best in a home without super young kiddos who could accidentally get caught in the middle. We will not allow her to go to a home with kids under the age of 8 for this reason. As mentioned, Opal absolutely loves people and is in the process of learning that it’s okay to be home for a bit alone without them. For that reason, she’d do best in a single family home, so that she doesn’t bother the neighbors while she settles down after her people leave the house. She will often not even pay attention to her people initially leaving the house when left with a yummy in her crate.Opal has so many glorious qualities, is swoon-worthy cute, and she’s hoping her forever family is ready to scoop her up!Overall, we would love Opal to find a loving home with older kids and someone who works from home is ideal. You must live in a house, NOT an apartment or any type of place where you share walls with neighbors.***OPAL IS FOSTERED IN WASHINGTON, D.C., BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue (unless we are able to meet up with adopters within a couple hours or adopter can drive to get the dog). Story
We are trying to help this sweet girl called Bonnie Belle to find a home since her elderly parents are in failing health and cannot care for their five dogs.  Bonnie Belle is a mix of some interesting breeds.  We think she has some Aussie and maybe Boxer in her.  The Australian Shepherd trait is what makes her a protector of the yard and home when strangers approach.  She is the home security dog officer!   This girl is losing her home because her elderly parents have fallen into bad health.  Bonnie Belle is 4 years old and weighs a little over 40 pounds.  She adores people and is good with the other dogs that she spends time with in the fenced yard.  She is housebroken, affectionate and a devoted girl to her family.  If you would like to give Bonnie her next forever home, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue who is helping her at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 26, 2024, 2:09 pm

Story
Lora Lee is a very sweet dog that is just 2 years old and weighs 35 pounds.  She is said to be an Aussie mix with some Terrier.  Whatever the mix is we think she is a most unusual and truly a beautiful girl who well with other dogs in her foster home.  She is a friend to all and apparently she is house trained as long as taken out regular. Lola Lee is crate trained but cannot be left for long hours in the crate.  She is not leash trained  but is trying to improve.   We are requesting that applicants have a fenced yard for her because she is an active girl that needs to run and play with freedom and not at the end of a leash only. This beauty loves to cuddle and be by your side like your BFF and shadow. If you have another dog that would be great for her to have a playmate that can help her wear out her energy every day.  Lola Lee is a great girl and she is going to need an active family that can challenge and meet her need for exercise and be able to keep up with her.   She is really not a dog for a retirement couple that are ready to have a more laidback dog with fewer exercise demands.  If you are interested in this girl please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 26, 2024, 2:09 pm

Story
Meet Handsome Cooper.  This beautiful Australian Shepherd is 8 years old and only 24 lbs.  Cooper is a ball of energy and you would never guess that he was more than 3 years old.  He is having the time of his life now that he has a huge fenced in yard where he runs and plays.  He is not used to all this space as he had no yard before.  He only got walked for exercise.  Cooper came to Critter Cavalry because his mom could no longer take care of him.  This active guy loves people.  Cooper would enjoy an active family that will take him on walks and hikes.  He is smart too and would love a family that would teach him things.  He knows how to walk on a leash and doesn't pull.  He is the perfect companion for someone who would like to teach him commands or even agility.  Cooper has lived as an only dog and would be fine getting all the attention.  A fenced in yard is a must for this guy and when you see how much he enjoys it you will understand.  Cooper loves people and just wants to be where you are.  He is a very sweet and loving little guy.  He will be an excellent addition to your family.  Cooper has been neutered, is current on all his shots, heartworm negative, microchipped and he has had a dental.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Cooper is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)July 26, 2024, 2:09 pm

Story
Meet our handsome 4-5 year old Australian Shepherd boy we call Sebastian.   This 60 pound, sweet soul was found as a stray back about the second week of June and he was never claimed by anyone as lost.  He was not microchipped, not neutered and just wanting a place to be loved.  Critter Cavalry Rescue has stepped up to foster him and find the perfect match for this gorgeous boy.  He is heartworm negative and he has been treated for an ear infection and a hot spot that is common during the hot summer months with the long furred dogs.  He is good with other dogs, children and we are cat testing him now.  He is pretty good on a leash and rides well in the car.   He has been several places in the past month and is dealing with feeling a little displaced at times.  This boy is clean, soft, handsome and needing a good place to land with someone that understands the breed and who has a fenced yard for him to explore safety and off leash.  If you love the breed you cannot help but love Sebastian.  Please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and we will be prompt to respond and definitely happy to speak with you on the phone about what he is all about. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 26, 2024, 2:09 pm

They are quite the dynamic duo. Lolo is big sister and protector - of both her human family and her brother Casey. And Casey is the goofball who wants nothing more than to play and give kisses. They are brother and sister and we want them adopted together. They love to spend their time romping in the yard and taking leisurely walks around the ranch. These beautiful and loyal companions would make great additions to an active family. They are fully vaccinated, neutered and spayed, and microchipped for life. They can be transported anywhere in the US or Canada. ##1939561##

Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13401My name is Jacob and I am guessed to be a 1 year old Border Collie/Lab mix and currently weigh about 65 pounds. Here are some things my foster family has learned about me:- I am a sweet boy who needs time to adjust to new places and people.- Once I know I can trust you, I am a happy loving boy. I am also a "hugger" and greet foster mom with big hugs when I haven't seen her for a while. She says we are going to work on "four on the floor"- I like getting praise, pets and belly rubs from people I know well.- I am very curious and enjoy slowly exploring my foster home and yard (Click here, here, here, here and here to see me in foster care!- When I first arrived, I would retreat to the safety of my crate. Now that I have settled in, I prefer being around my foster family and playing with my furry foster sibling. - I enjoy the company of other dogs. Although I can get overexcited playing with my furry foster sibling, I listen when told to settle down.- I am a smart boy who is eager to please. I know "sit", "come" and "leave it". I am treat motivated and will gently take treats from your hand. Beware, though, I have learned to open lever handled doors and won't hesitate to let myself outside to play.- I love being off leash in a fenced in yard. It takes time for me to trust people enough for them to walk me on a leash. Now that I know my foster family well, I enjoy going for long walks around the neighborhood and do well on a leash. I especially enjoy going for hikes in the woods! I may sit and watch as groups of strangers go by, but then happily continue on my way. I would do best in a quiet neighborhood or area and need a home with a fenced in yard so that I can get comfortable with my new people before needing to walk on a leash.- I have definitely learned the joy of toys. I can entertain myself with chew toys or dissecting squeakers out of plush toys. I like to run outside with my toys, where so I can toss them into the air and pounce after them. I haven't quite figured out fetch, but foster mom says that's OK.- When foster mom is working at her desk, I quietly nap nearby or entertain myself with chew toys. - At night I can either go into my crate with treats or hang out on the sofa and sleep quietly until morning.- I have been doing a great job going potty outside. I am looking for a loving home where I can continue to gain confidence and thrive. I am looking for someone who is patient and understands that I need time to learn to trust them before showing my happy playful side. If that's you, apply today.

Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13726Hi! My name is Kendall and I arrived to OPH on 7/12/24. I’m guessed to be a Border Collie mixed breed dog approximately 11-month-old gal and weighing about 35 lbs. Here are a few things foster mom has learned about me:- I am very sweet and LOVE people. I charm everyone I meet, melting into them for pets and loving!- I have a lot of curiosity. If you open a drawer or closet I am right there to check it out with you and help you find what you are looking for.- I am a happy fun loving girl who is always up for adventure. I love exploring the yard and playing with my doggie foster sibling. Click here and here to see me with my foster sibling.- Toys are awesome. I have never had so many toys and I like them all. I am learning fetch, but haven't quite figured it out yet. Click here and here to see me learning to play with toys.- When foster mom is working, I can entertain myself or settle down for a long nap.- I am a smart girl who loves treats. I have already learned "sit". I am working on not counter surfing, but it's so tempting as I really want to see what is going on up there.- I enjoy going for walks around the neighborhood. Walks are like a treasure hunt to find new people to meeting. If there is someone in your neighborhood you haven't met yet I can definitely help with that. No one can resist my happy body wiggles and tail wags. Foster mom says I am doing well on a leash too. I have been learning words like "sidewalk" and "cross"(for crossing the street) and "leave it" - when I see a rabbit or find something interesting on the ground. Click here to see on a hike.- I sleep quietly all night in my crate and patiently wait until for foster mom to let me out for the morning.- During the day, I like to play outside or go for a walk and then take a nice nap on my doggie bed.- I am doing an awesome job going potty outside. Although I had an accident in my crate initially, I now tell foster mom when I need to go outside.I am looking for my forever home! Is that with you? Apply to adopt me today!
