Story
Ophelia is a super sweet, gorgeous dog who adores people. She's great with other dogs (but could also be on her own). She is housebroken and smart. She would thrive in a training class as she's an eager learner. She is @40 lbs and we estimate 2 years old. Aussies generally make excellent watchdogs and are known for their playful and affectionate natures.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 19, 2023, 12:13 am

Story
Sydney-Australian Shepard Tri-color female, ~ 2 -3 yr. (April 2024) Please contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for application. Sydney came to Rescue when she wandered into a kind family's yard/rural area. There were reports of her sighting in the area for a while and she finally came for help. She's been a wonderful guest at their house, they say. Good with the dogs and cats. She's very calm and good on the leash so would do very well as company and on easy walks. She has a mellow personality for a Shepard. Would enjoy hanging out under your desk at work. With her wonderful personality, she could also easily be a therapy dog. She's full of love and gentleness. Sydney's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Include your location and a phone number for future communication.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Juno has been well trained to live in a home. She is nicely house broken and crate trained. Her foster says of her ' Juno is very sweet Loves to play with toys & run around outside. She is very calm in her crate.' She is a working breed and would love to have a job to do around your place. She is such a wonderful, and useful, dog to have around. She has gotten along well with the other dogs she has met. No cats, though. She does not do well with them. We have had her completely vetted and made sure she has all her shots for you.  A beauty to look at, and lovely both inside and out.She would love to join your family and in no time she will be a cherished family member . If you are interested in Juno, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2024, 3:08 pm

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Penny is 2yo, weighs 50lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Penny dislikes/fears the dark and loud noises; she LOVES car rides !  Penny's guardian have spent a considerable amount of time and money to determine the underlying reason for Penny's sudden onset without success.  She and her canine sibling are currently in a training program from which they'll graduate 1 March; Penny is learning how to properly walk on leash, sit, down, stay, and place.  Although she's doing well, Penny attacked her canine sibling again recently, which prompted her guardian to keep them separated.  Penny's guardian adds:   "When she’s with just my husband or me, she’s content.  But, she is much more content and visibly happy at training & doggy daycare because she’s active.  We have 2 dogs in addition to Penny that we had before we adopted her - a 9yo lab and the 3yo lab.  Our jobs are very demanding, and it was always fine that the dogs had a more chill lifestyle until recently.  It is not fair to Penny to have to be crated or in another room because she can’t get along with our other dog anymore.  We want her to be able to run freely, be as active as she possibly can.  We are heartbroken, and this is the toughest decision we’ve ever had to make.  But in the end, it’s about her happiness and quality of life that matters most." Penny's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Although Penny and one of her canine siblings were the best of friends, Penny has inexplicably attacked and bitten her a few times since December 2023.   Lunge/Attack/Bite Incidents:  Since December in 2023, in Hollywood, MD, Penny has attacked and bitten one of her canine sibling without provocation; the bite broke the skin, animal control was not involved and veterinary treatment was not necessary.  Penny's guardian explains:  "Penny lunged at and attacked our other dog.  Our other dog ended up with a gsh in her ear, chest, and bit marks on her front leg.  They were not severe, so we cleaned them up and they're healing." Penny's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Penny hasn't lived with children, her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "Penny loves our two young nieces and nephew.  She is gentle with them, lays next to them, and loves when they play with her". Penny's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Penny lives with two dogs, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "Prior to the first incident in December, we never had any issues with Penny and our dogs.  They were all the best of friends, played great together, slept on top of each other, drank out of the water bowl together, truly inseparable.  We have never had any issues with Penny with our neighbors' dogs, dogs at the vet, or groomer". Penny's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Penny lives with a cat, so her guardian recommends Penny living with cats, stating "Penny and our cat are best friends". Penny's guardian describes her as follows: Very active Couch potato Playful Friendly Fence Jumper Likes to be touched Affectionate Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Penny's guardian described her ideal future home: "Penny would truly thrive in an active home.  Going on multiple daily walks, playing outside, going for frequent car rides, going to different parks or beaches, running and playing freely.  She would benefit from a fenced yard with lots of room for her to run and play." DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Blue is a Mini Australian Shepherd, is 2yo, weighs 42lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.  Blue's guardian adds:  "He is reactive and I am always concerned when leaving my condo to take him on walks.  He's afraid of strangers and is leash reactive to people or sometimes dogs.  I am afraid of running into people in the halls and it is very concerning living next to children.  He does not have a yard to run around in.  I take him to the park regularly and walk him four times a day, but it is not enough.  I have a camera that I watch and check him as often as I can when at work.  I leave the television on dog tv when I leave. This way of living is not sustainable for him or me.  When I am at work, he stays out in my condo.  He's very good about not chewing and knows his routine.  He usually sleeps on floor in my bedroom or at the end of my bed.  He enjoys car rides.  He does sometimes try to get in the front seat.  For the most part he is great in the car.       I have tried behavioral training.  It was somewhat helpful, but I know that Blue is not in the correct environment to thrive.  He knows basic commands including 'sit', 'stay', 'lay down', 'roll over', 'wait', and 'place'.  He is extremely smart and fast to catch on to commands.  He has gone to special training as a puppy called Sit Means Sit.  They encouraged the use of a shock collar, which I do not currently use.  I have looked into more training, but I cannot afford to spend more thousands of dollars.  I keep a consistent schedule.  I give him chews and kongs when I leave.  I have a dog walker that comes twice a day when I work.  I have family close by that also helps walk and take him when I am not there or have something to do.  I feel exhausted and Blue is still having behavioral problems and unhappy." Blue's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  "My condo is not the ideal home for Blue.  He is restless and paces all day when I am at work.  He barks when he hears people outside my door, which is often as I live next to four other people/families.  I have been contacted by my property manager that he barks constantly and it must be resolved quickly, or he will have to go." Scratch/attack/lunge incident:  "Nobody has been attacked.  He lunges on the leash.  He can scratch when jumping on you because he is excited.  He has attacked a cat.  Animal control was not involved. Blue's guardian states the following regarding children:  Blue hasn't lived with or otherwise been around children, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating "I have never let him be around children off leash.  He is reactive on leash and gets nervous around small, running and loud children.  He will bark and lunge if they get too close on a leash.  I do not allow him around children". Blue's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Blue hasn't lived with or otherwise been around dogs, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with dogs, stating "Blue gets along with most dogs.  When on a leash he may bark or whine because he wants to interact with dogs.  He has gone to boarding with other dogs outside in a field and he did great.  However, when he was a puppy he got into some fight at the dog park.  We stopped going after that.  He doesn't like smaller dogs". Blue's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Although Blue lives with cats, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "He tries to hunt/chase them". Blue's guardian describes him as: Very active Barks alot Playful Affectionate Fearful Protective Always at your side Nervous House-Trained Separation anxiety Blue's guardian describes his ideal future home: "Blue needs space to run and play, like a farm.  He would benefit from a fenced yard.  He cannot be in a household with cats, children, or small animals.  His ideal home would be quiet.  It would be extremely beneficial if the owner has experience with reactive dogs.  The owner(s) should be able to spend time with him and he should not be left alone for extended periods of time.  He may be able to go to a home with other dogs, but there is a risk with him being reactive.  He needs an experienced dog owner." All George wants is to have his home life back again with someone who cares. He is a smart fella and already knows some commands - sit , down and come.
