Just want to do right by this loving guy and find him the right home. Very small rehoming fee needed. 13 month old male basset hound who is loving, playful, affectionate, and gets along well with children and pets. The reason I can't care for him anymore is he has issues with separation that I think can be managed by someone with more time to devote to him, or a family, as opposed to someone single working full time. A small, minimal homing fee required

Tommy is a 5 year old basset shar pei mix and will require a home with a fence. His adoption fee is $250 and he is being fostered near Cincinnati.  Can you resist this freckle faced fur baby? Not a chance. Especially after you meet this handsome dude! Tommy was placed with us due to no fault of his own. His family got him as a puppy 5 years ago but it turns out their youngest child is severely allergic. They spent months trying different treatments for her with no success. They were heartbroken to make the decision to surrender and when he was picked up, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Tommy is 5 years old and was cared for on a phenomenal level. He is great with kids of all ages, dogs and even passed meeting cats for the first time with his foster with no incident.   However, he is a bunny annihilator because though he has never tasted one, he heard they taste like chicken. The 2 older children had no problems walking this sweet boy on leash walks and he loves  car rides and toys.   Tommy is a family dog and will do best in a home with kids and is used to a busy schedule. Tommy was crated only as a puppy, is not destructive and does not go potty in the house.  His amber eyes and happy disposition will have you inviting him onto the couch in no time flat. If you think Tommy could be the perfect match to complete your family, adopt him! I promise you won't be disappointed!  Hey folks far and wide. Just a reminder that Tommy is still available for adoption and though he's being fostered in the Cincinnati area, foster has SUV and will travel to meet or deliver to his new family. Jake came to us after being relinquished to a shelter because he wasn't happy when the new baby started to crawl. Well ya know what Jake? I'm right there with ya buddy! Those little buggers are a pain in the curly tail when they get mobile! Speaking of Curley tail...check out his tail! We don't know why.  He is a mix but looks very bassety so who knows where the tail came from! Jake is a big fan of toys tho! Has been emptying out his Foster's toy box! He gets along with other dogs but is not a cat fan. Jake is house broken, up to date, chipped and fixed. A fenced in yard would be nice but not a deal breaker for this guy. He is currently in Columbus. If you are interested in Jake or ANY of our dogs you MUST APPLY FIRST. Apps can be filled out at Ohiobassetrescue.com. Once we receive it a volunteer will be in contact with you via email.  This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cin c innati, Lexington KY,     or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225   . We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.
