Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Whiskey is a year and a half old female basset in need of a new home!  She is nervous with new people at first but once she gets used to you she is fine. It just seems as though she may not have been socialized very much, so a lot of experiences are new to her.     Whiskey does not seem to care at all about the other dogs, she doesn't even act like she knows they are there, lol! She came from a home with other dogs so she should be ok in a home with well mannered and non dominant dogs.   She is a little bit stubborn but I feel like that is pretty normal for a basset. Mostly, it's just when she doesn't want to do something, like go back inside after her walks, Whiskey will back up and fight the leash a bit. It's been pretty easy to redirect her though, we just take another small loop through the grass and come back to the door from a different angle.   Overall, Whiskey is a good girl She just needs someone that understands bassets and will get her some socialization so that life isn't so scary for her.  She is a very sweet girl with a few basset quirks an experienced basset owner will understand! Her adoption fee is $300 and she is currently in Columbus and will need a home with a fenced in yard!    Adoption Process: To meet one our dogs you must first fill out our application on our website ohiobassetrescue.com. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Meet Norman!   With his soulful eyes, velvety-soft fur, and irresistible Basset charm, Norman is impossible not to love. This spunky 7-year-old Basset Hound is proof that age is just a number—he's fit, enjoys long walks, walks beautifully on a leash, is completely housebroken, and never turns down a tasty treat!   Norman is a sweet, sensitive boy looking for a calm, patient family. Loud noises, sudden movements, and unfamiliar objects can startle him, so he'll thrive in a quiet home where he can continue building his confidence. Once he feels safe, he's a loyal companion who loves to snuggle and soak up affection.   In his foster home, Norman lives happily with three other Basset Hounds and two Persian cats. His Basset buddies have helped him rediscover his playful side, and he loves racing around the house with them. Watching him rediscover the joy of simply being a dog has been one of the greatest rewards of fostering him. He would do best with calm, playful dogs his own size, but isn't a fan of large dogs or overly dominant personalities.   If you're looking for a gentle, devoted companion with just the right amount of Basset goofiness, Norman is ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and plenty of cuddles. Could you be the forever family this sweet boy hasp been waiting for? Norman is being fostered in the Cincinnati area and his fee is $300. Home with a fenced in yard is preferred, however others will be considered as long as he is kept active! Please fill out the online application at ohiobassetrescue.com If you are interested!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 3, 2026, 7:04 pm

Story
Meet Denali! At approximately 9 months old, Denali is already showing off his fun-loving personality and charming quirks. We believe he’s a mix of Basset Hound and a larger working breed such as an Anatolian Shepherd, Black Mouth Cur, or similar breed. The result is a handsome low-rider with a big personality, a bigger heart, and an expected adult weight of around 45-50 pounds. Denali loves to play fetch, chase squeaky toys, run around the yard, and be involved in whatever his people are doing. More than anything, he loves his humans and wants to be close to them. If he had his way, he’d spend his days following you from room to room and his evenings curled up beside you on the couch. Denali gets along with dogs and children, but because of his past, he can occasionally be fear-reactive and may stand his ground if challenged by another dog. The good news is that he responds well to correction, is eager to please, and has already made tremendous progress in a very short period of time. We fully expect his confidence to continue growing as he settles into a stable, loving home. While Denali enjoys canine companionship, he would do best with mellow, respectful dog friends. Any resident dogs should be easygoing, and his adopter should be comfortable managing introductions and continuing his positive training. He is not a difficult dog, just a dog who needs a thoughtful leader to help him succeed. Denali's ideal home would be with someone who appreciates a devoted best friend and can provide a calm, structured environment. In return, he’ll offer endless loyalty, affection, and entertainment. He would be especially well-suited for someone familiar with larger working breeds such as Anatolian Shepherds, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Black Mouth Curs, or similar breeds. Experience isn’t required because Denali is “problematic”, it’s simply because understanding how these intelligent, loyal dogs think will help him reach his full potential. Denali has come incredibly far in a short amount of time and continues to show us what a wonderful companion he can be. With patience, consistency, and love, he’s going to make someone an amazing best friend for years to come. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick, adventure buddy, and oversized lap dog, Denali may just be your perfect match! Denali is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $275.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

At six years old, she has perfected the art of being a relaxed, well-mannered house companion. Gretel is a professional lounger who is fully potty trained and knows exactly how to behave indoors. I’m not sure the exact age of this dog, I think around 8 or 9.. we recently had to take in my grandmother due to her having a stroke and she does not like the dog. Gabby is super calm and mostly keeps to herself, she lives with cats and leaves them alone.
