This around 2-year-old beagle mix with a suspiciously curly tail (what breed is that?!) comes with all the best features: house-broken, crate trained (with minimal treat-based bribery required), excellent leash manners, and a personality that's 50% snuggle bug, 50% class clown. He's mastered "sit," is working on his "stay" certification, and comes when called like the good boy he is. Wilson's Resume: • Social Skills: A+ with other dogs (playful but respectful), great with humans, has enjoyed children, TBD on cats • Special Talents: Perfecting the art of taking up an entire couch, and unleashing the most hilarious beagle howl when he's outside • Quirks: Believes personal space is a myth. Will attempt to merge with you on the couch. Consider yourself warned. What Wilson Wants: He’ll adapt to whatever living situation comes with his favorite thing: YOU. Seriously, this boy just wants to be near his humans, whether that means shadowing you around the house or becoming a living blanket. If you're ready for a loyal, intelligent, cuddle monster, Wilson is the dog for you! The adoption fee for Wilson is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. Meet Winifred aka Winnie! This beautiful beagle is around 3-years-old and 20lbs. She came to us from a hoarding situation. Winifred can be nervous meeting new people, but once she's comfortable, shows her wild side! She's an energetic, playful, goofy girl who loves to zoom around. She is dog friendly, but can be a rough player, so would need some guidance. Winnie will need some extra help with potty training, due to her past living situation. She is looking for a patient home to allow her to decompress and adjust to a new way of life. She is looking for a home with prior beagle experience and a fenced yard. She would do best with respectful teens.

Roscoe was relinquished to an open access shelter where he would’ve lost his life if he wasn’t rescued. Thankfully he found us and we just love this guy! He’s adorable and seems to be a purebred beagle. Roscoe loves his food and doesn’t like to share it (like many beagles) so he’ll need a home with no children. Can he be your baby?!

Meet Albert—the pup with the unforgettable ears and an even bigger heart! This 2-year-old, 33-pound Boxer mix is the definition of a loyal best friend. Affectionate and devoted, Albert loves being close to his people and thrives on companionship. When it’s time to play, he’s all in—tug-of-war, tennis balls, stick collecting, and joyful zoomies around the yard are all part of his daily fun. Albert spent much of his first year in a shelter, but since joining his foster family, he has truly come into his own. He’s learning good doggy manners, sleeps soundly in his crate, and is making great progress with potty training. Smart and eager to please, Albert picks up new commands quickly and enjoys having structure and guidance. This sweet, energetic boy would do best in a home with a fully fenced yard in a calm neighborhood where he can play safely and continue building confidence. He loves other dogs and would be happy to have a canine companion. Because of his enthusiasm and energy, a home with children ages 10 and older would be the best fit. Melvin is a 2 ½ – 3 y.o., 23 pound neutered Beagle who came to us after being rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case. It is reported that 43 beagles were discovered living together in a single garage. Their world had been small and crowded, filled with the sounds and smells of dozens of other dogs but not much else. Basically submissive, Melvin’s socialization is progressing well. Melvin volunteers for chin, head & belly rubs. His love for food & treats provides a path for trust & learning. Melvin’s housetraining is coming along nicely. He has become comfortable in the fenced yard of his foster home. Melvin is making sense of a new world. He finds being leashed foreign, but has learned to well on the leash. Despite his past, Melvin is resilient. Melvin is learning about safety, comfort, and companionship for the very first time. He loves exploring his foster home yard. Melvin is not for a first time owner as he needs a patient adopter who wants the satisfaction of developing the trust & teaching skills to an under socialized dog. Quick movements & loud noises startle Melvin so that he darts away. So no children under age 8 please. Melvin is a flight risk and requires extra care with secure handling. Patience will be needed when meeting new people or visiting new places. Melvin is neutered, heartworm & fecal tested negative. Melvin is up to date on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm, flea & tick preventatives. Melvin’s adoption fee is $425. Once learning that home is safe, Melvin will become the most loyal, affectionate companions you could imagine. If your heart has room for a dog who’s never truly known what “home” & loving, accepting companionship feels like, Melvin might be for you. Adopting a dog from a hoarding situation can be one of the most challenging — and rewarding — experiences in rescue. These dogs are learning about life from the ground up: hands can be gentle, food will always come, leashes can mean adventure, and people can be trusted. Everyday sights and may feel strange or scary at first. Progress can be slow, but watching them open up is nothing short of extraordinary. Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Our service area is the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
