Popper is a 9-month-old Beagle mix with big ears, a quirky personality, and an even bigger heart!
If you’re looking for a dog who can keep you laughing, join you for some playtime, and then happily crawl into your lap for cuddles, Popper may be your guy!
His foster family describes him in three words: funny, cuddly, and sweet. And honestly, they couldn't have picked better words.
❤️ Popper's Personality
Popper is an easygoing, affectionate boy who has mastered the art of knowing when his people need a little snuggle time—and when they might need some personal space.
He loves to jump right into your arms (and for a little guy, he has some impressive hops!), curl up next to you, and enjoy endless belly and booty rubs.
He's also perfectly happy to get up and run some laps around the yard, chase his foster siblings, or settle down with one of his favorite chew toys.
And those big Beagle ears and quirky personality? They're guaranteed to make you smile!

He's a medium-energy pup who enjoys activity but is equally happy relaxing afterward.
Popper is a little bit of everything: playful when it's time to play, and a total cuddle bug when it's time to relax.
🏡 Life With Popper
Popper has a predictable daily routine and does well with structure.
His mornings start with a potty break and breakfast, followed by play and activity throughout the day. He enjoys afternoon runs and playtime, has dinner around 7:30, and is usually ready to settle down for bed around 8:30–9:00.
He would love a family who will give him opportunities to play, explore, get daily exercise, and then relax together at home.
🐶 Other Dogs
This is one area where Popper's forever family will need to understand his personality.
Popper gets along wonderfully with the dogs in his foster home. He enjoys playing with his foster siblings and has no problem sharing his home with them.
However, he can be selective with unfamiliar dogs. He is not a fan of other dogs while on walks and may need space and patient introductions when meeting dogs outside his home.
His foster family has also noticed that Popper may give a low growl when he's in his kennel near other dogs. This is limited behavior and has not prevented him from happily living with his canine foster siblings.
Because of this, Popper's ideal family should be willing to respect his boundaries and introduce him to unfamiliar dogs slowly and appropriately.
He could be happy as the only dog in the home or potentially live with another dog with the right introduction and personality match.
👧 Kids
Popper has interacted with children as young as 3 years old.
As with any young dog, children should be taught to respect his space and interact with him appropriately, especially when he's resting or enjoying his crate.
🎓 Training
Popper is still a young dog and will benefit from continued training and consistency.
He's working on his leash skills as he can be reactive and will need a family willing to continue helping him become a confident, well-mannered walking companion.
He has no food, treat, toy, or people resource guarding.
⚡ Energy Level
Popper has a medium energy level.
He's active enough to enjoy running, playing, and daily activity, but he's also perfectly happy to be a couch potato afterward.
His ideal day might look something like:
Play → zoomies → toys → snacks → cuddles → nap → repeat. ❤️

This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason.
Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval.

Microchip registered to 24 Pet Watch for free
DHPP Vaccine series
Bordetella Vaccine
Leptospirosis Vaccine series
Rabies vaccine
4DX Heartworm test (7 months of age or older)
Spay/Neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue)
General wellness care (includes deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention)
