FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60619 ESTIMATED DOB: 12/2022 WEIGHT: 27lbs KIDS: Yes, Older DOGS: Yes CATS: Yes HISTORY: Juniper came to us from Louisiana where she was found as a stray. ABOUT: Juniper is absolutely the sweetest creature on the planet. She can be a little timid when meeting new people, but once she gets to know you she is willing to follow you around and help you do anything. Including things that don’t need help. If you know beagles and love both their antics and devotion - Juniper will be the perfect dog for you. Their love, companionship, and desire to sniff your eyeballs. Their willingness to follow you anywhere and everywhere. But also their ability to get into a little trouble if they are left alone when their services are not needed. Juniper rides well in the car. She does bark and whine when she is left alone - so she might upset the neighbors in an apartment. Her foster said she isn’t horrible on leash, but isn’t the best either. Juniper does great with other dogs and would likely do best with another dog. She would likely thrive with a dog who likes to interact and be her buddy - but also is confident and can give her a lead to follow. If we had to make a guess Juniper likely came from a hunting beagle kennel, so she is used to having canine companions. Juniper is being fostered with a cat whom she does not bother. Like most dogs she enjoys cat food, so it would need to be kept out of her reach. Juniper is happy to entertain herself while you are busy - but it might involve chewing the belt on your robe or putting all your shoes in her bed. If you’ve had a beagle before - you know this is pretty par for the course. She is not a bounce-off-the-wall every minute of the day type of hyper, but she is young and will need some physical and mental stimulation to keep your robes and shoes safe. Juniper is not being fostered with children. She is as sweet as pie and would likely love children, but because she can get a little excited she might do best with older children that she can’t accidentally knock over. Juniper’s housetraining has gone back and forth. At times she does really well, but has recently been having some accidents in her crate. A good routine and schedule - along with another dog and a little patience from her adopter might help her get this figured out. Juniper has a low grade heart murmur and a slow heart rate that doesn’t really mean much except it can change the medications she needs while sedated. She should also be on a cardiology approved diet (Hills, Purina, etc.). No grain free or boutique foods, please. They might be healthy foods for many dogs, but they’re not for her. Juniper was heartworm positive upon arrival, and has gone through treatment. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org. Story
##2751243## Gabby is a beautiful young girl, estimated to be around 1.5 years old, who is searching for a patient and understanding family willing to give her the time she needs to truly shine. After arriving at the shelter as a puppy, Gabby spent about 8 months growing up behind kennel walls. Because of this, she's still learning what life outside the shelter is all about. New sights, sounds, people, and experiences can feel overwhelming at first, and Gabby will need a family committed to following the 3-3-3 rule and allowing her plenty of time to decompress, adjust, and build trust in her new home. Gabby is shy when meeting new people and does best with slow, gentle introductions. She may not show her true personality right away, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into a playful, affectionate, and incredibly sweet companion. The bond you build with Gabby will be well worth the wait. This goofy girl has a curious side that keeps everyone smiling. She's fascinated by her own reflection and can spend time trying to figure out who that dog in the mirror is! As she gains confidence, her playful personality emerges, and she becomes more eager to explore the world around her. Gabby can be sensitive to certain sounds and unfamiliar situations, so she'll thrive with patient adopters who can help her navigate new experiences at her own pace. Because Gabby spent much of her life in a shelter environment, she is not yet fully potty trained and is still learning what a consistent routine looks like. Her future family should expect to continue working on house training and understand that accidents may happen as she adjusts. With patience, structure, and positive reinforcement, she'll continue making progress. Gabby isn't looking for perfection, she's looking for someone who understands that trust takes time and that learning how to be a family dog is a journey. With love, patience, and consistency, this sweet girl will continue to grow into the confident, loving companion she's meant to be. If you're willing to give Gabby the gift of time, she'll reward you with a lifetime of loyalty, love, and plenty of laughs along the way. If you're interested in meeting adorable Gabby please fill out the application below! https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/33545/generic
