Story
Hi! My name is Canelo, I have kind of a sad story. I am a sweet guy, but my family left me behind. This sweet lady is trying to help me find my forever home. One of the dogs in her home is a rescue like me and he doesn’t get along with me like the nice lady thought he would. I’m friendly and kind with the other dog at her house. She has 2 cats and they are interesting, but I haven’t chased them at all. I am a handsome beagle (maybe mix?) and would love the opportunity to be your bestie! I would love someone who has a slower paced life and maybe works from home so we can have lots of time together! I will come with supplies and a crate. Can we be friends forever?

Story
Pal's Place would love to introduce you to Obie, an extraordinary, resilient, friendly, and happy dog looking for a family as remarkable as he is. Lovable Obie is estimated to be around 7 years of age, weighs in around 30 pounds, and appears to be a Beagle/Terrier mix. At the beginning of the year (January 2nd), this precious fella's entire world turned upside down, and his recovery has been remarkable and inspiring. Obie was hit by a car and suffered catastrophic injuries to both of his eyes. His eyes were damaged beyond repair, and his only option for a comfortable, pain-free life was the complete removal of both eyes. At seven years of age, Obie suddenly found himself having to learn a new way of navigating and interacting with the world around him. When an older dog becomes disabled in any way, especially very suddenly, there is always a concern they may never fully adjust or lose much of their quality of life. Well, it did not take long for us to see that Obie was not going to let his new disability define him or even slow him down much at all! He has adapted remarkably well, and despite the trauma, his chipper, sunny, and friendly disposition remains intact. He learned the layout of his foster home in less than two days and mastered the stairs in the home within a week. He just needs a little patience and encouragement when introduced to new environments, but he's very inquisitive and always eager to learn and explore. Once he is familiar with an environment, you'd never know he was blind! He loves to wrestle and play with his canine foster siblings, play with toys, go for walks, and can navigate familiar stairs independently. There is not much a sighted dog can do that a blind dog cannot! Obie loves meeting new people and pups and is a social butterfly. In Obie's world, everyone is greeted as a long-lost friend! Anyone lucky enough to cross paths with Obie can expect a bright, enthusiastic smile, plentiful tail wags, and a generous number of licks and kisses. He is a professional cuddler who thrives on human affection and attention. Obie is a joy to be around, and his zest for life and cheerful personality are contagious. Like many Terriers, he can be vocal at times, is a bit stubborn, demanding at times, and forever trying to outsmart his humans. Guardians with a sense of humor and those who know, love, and appreciate the Terrier grit will be the best match for him! He will be an outstanding, loyal companion for one lucky family. • Obie is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and heartworm tested. His adoption fee to the rescue is $375. Obie is being fostered in Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Obie's adoption fee is $375. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Obie from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! We are a volunteer-run organization and do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not apply until you are ready to adopt.

Story
It breaks my heart to have to do this, but my family I need to re-home our beloved dog Oliver. He has not adjusted well to our recent addition, our 16 month old son. We have tried for months to make the situation work, but we feel like Oliver isn’t getting the attention he deserves. A little bit about our boy… he is a boxer/beagle, about 35/40 pounds, and a very sweet dog! He is a senior pup (about 12 years old) with early stages of kidney disease. He is prescribed a special food and it’s manageable, he just needs bathroom breaks every 2/3 hours. He loves to cuddle, is house broken, and is need of a quiet home so he can lounge for his remaining days. He’s a licker, not a biter and doesn’t bark. He has been a city dog all his life. He gets along with other dogs and children, HOWEVER, he is best suited for an adults only home with NO OTHER PETS. When he is not getting the attention he needs he has accidents indoors. We have noticed he gets jealous of other pets.

Story
Meet Duke! Such a handsome and fun guy, if you are looking for a younger dog, but may not have the time required for a puppy, a teenage dog might be great for you. Teenage dogs have a zest for life and most love learning new skills. Teenagers are still learning the ropes of being good family dogs, so they need consistency of what they can and cannot do. We encourage attending a positive reinforcement-based training class to help you and your adolescent dog bond and learn together. Daily mental and physical exercise also helps set the tone for a happy life together. Anti-Cruelty has some great teenage dogs, so come on down and meet your new best friend today, just ask to meet Duke!

Story
Howdy, my name is Walle! I am a lovable and loyal only 6 years young Beagle mix who is on a hunt for my forever home. I was found wandering the woods and brought to animal control.I spent quite a bit of time in their kennel before these nice people sprung me. I'm slowly getting used to the regular routine of normal family life. I'm a work in progress when it comes to my manners, both with people and other dogs. I've been through a lot, and sometimes I get a little too excited to see new friends. But don't worry, I'm a quick learner and I'm eager to please. I already know how to roll over and army crawl, with some patient and loving guidance, I'll become the well-behaved companion you've always wanted.I have a heart full of love and a tail that's always ready to wag. I'm a beagle mix, which means I've got a keen nose and a strong desire to explore the world around me. One of my absolute favorite things to do is snuggle up with my humans. There's nothing better than curling up on the couch or in a cozy bed, feeling the warmth and comfort of your presence. If you're a fan of cuddles, we're a perfect match.I'm not just a couch potato, though. I love going for walks and exploring the great outdoors. Whether it's a leisurely stroll in the park or a more adventurous hike, I'm up for the challenge. My nose can lead us to all sorts of interesting scents, and I'd love to have you by my side on these adventures.I'm searching for a family who can give me the love, attention, training and structure that I need. A calm and patient environment would be perfect for me as I continue to learn and grow. If you're willing to work with me on my manners and provide me with a stable and loving home, we'll make an awesome team. Please apply today if you have a nice yard I can run and play in.Like all CPR dogs, additional group or private dog training is required.Walle is fixed, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm-negative, and microchipped. He is currently being cared for by our rescue but would like you to make him a permanent part of your family today! His adoption fee of $275 will benefit other CPR rescue animals. For additional pictures/videos on our website, please copy/paste this link in your browser:https://www.chicagopetrescue.org/dogs.html#WalleCurrent location: Foster Home
