Meet Flora!Flora is a 1 year old, Spayed Female, Beagle/German Shepherd mix.Flora is a gorgeous medium sized girl who came to us heavily pregnant. She gave birth the same day she came in and was an incredible mom! Now it's her turn to be the center of attention! Flora should do ok with other dogs but may need some time to adjust. She will likely do best in a home without cats. She loves children and will do well in a family setting. Flora can jump a 4 ft fence she she will need a 6 foot fence or to be leash walked in her forever home.Visit our website to fill out the adoption application: https://bit.ly/HSofMacombadoptionapplicationIf your application was approved and you received a call back from the Humane Society of Macomb for a meet and greet, plan to take the animal home that day. Story
Teddy is a 6.5 year old Beagle English bulldog mix. He has been with me since he was 18 weeks old. I am recently divorced and work 10-16 hours a day and I fear he is being neglected. He is in great shape with the only issue in his history being an ear infection that lasted almost 6 MO this before finally getting rid of it last year. His shots were up to date until I fell behind on it over the past 6 months with the expense from the unexpected divorce. His only behavior concern is that he is protective of his food. He has never been anything but loving towards humans or animals, but there has been 2 occurrences over his lifespan where he went after my other dog for getting too close to his food bowl. His first 18 weeks w/o me were in a cage with 6 dogs and 1 bo2l.of food, unfortunately.Ideally, he would go to a home with more room to roam and get some training or eat foot isolated, to eliminate and chance of conflictI am listing him at no cost because of his shots needing to be updated.

Story
Just look at that face! Coco is estimated to be about 3 1/2 months old and weighs 16 pounds right now. This little cutie bear went right into foster for a couple of weeks as soon as he came to the rescue (he is back at the rescue now) and his foster mom gave us some nice information on him: Coco is very smart and food motivated. He knows sit and down and recall. He seems to want to be around my dogs more than he can be at the moment as he just got neutered, so no playing for him right now. I think he would make a great second dog if the other dog can set limits for him. He is a lap dog and loves to be around people. We had a really nice morning relaxing outside and he was calmly watching squirrels and birds. I believe he is partially potty trained, once he goes to the door you don't have too long before he has to go. He is very cute and expressive, though he will bark quite a bit for attention or when he's frustrated but that has calmed considerably. As he is a Beagle mix, he is going to want to go for lots of walks to take in all the smells and for sure use his Beagly nose, so an active family that likes to do fun things is just what he needs! Coco would love it if you wanted to meet him! He will need a home where any children are at least 4 years old. If you are interested in Coco and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Meet Cooper! This bouncy beagle boy is two years old. All 35-pounds of him is eager to tackle to life's adventures with you! From the moment you meet him, Cooper is all about a good time. Whether is enjoying some tasty treats or trying out a variety of toys, he's ready for whatever comes his way. Cooper is always on the move and is eager to explore the world around him. Can't think of a better companion to have by your side! Cooper will thrive in an active home with lots of daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to explore. Time to follow his nose along with lots of mental stimulation is a must for this curious pup. He enjoys taking a dip in the kiddie pool at the kennel and was content to cool down while enjoying the outdoors. He's a very social guy and who is very tolerant of handling and will make one lucky family very happy for many years to come. Based on our evaluation, we feel Cooper would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the capacity to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think he is the guy for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our charismatic Cooper!

Story
🐾 Meet Luna! 🐾 Luna is a 5-month-old Beagle mix with a sweet personality, an adorable face, and a nose that's always ready for her next adventure! She currently weighs about 20–25 pounds and is expected to stay a nice medium size when she's fully grown. One of Luna's biggest accomplishments is that she's already house-trained using the bell system! She'll ring the bell to let you know when she needs to go outside—a pretty impressive skill for such a young pup. Luna came to us as an owner surrender because she wasn't getting along well with the older dogs in her home. At her age, it's difficult to know whether she was trying to encourage them to play, testing boundaries like many adolescent puppies do, or simply overwhelming dogs that weren't interested in her puppy energy. What we do know is that Luna is still very much a puppy and will benefit from continued training, structure, and appropriate introductions to other dogs. She would thrive with an active family that has the time and patience to continue teaching her good manners, provide plenty of exercise, and help her grow into the wonderful adult dog she's destined to be. Whether she's exploring the backyard, going for walks, or curling up after a busy day, Luna is ready to become someone's loyal best friend. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate young companion who's already off to a great start with house training, Luna may be the perfect addition to your family! She is getting spayed on June 17th and will be ready for her new family shortly after! She is currently being fostered in Mississippi but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! Please message us if you are interested in adopting this little girl and we will send you an adoption application!

Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. Heidi was a stray that wandered up to a house and wouldn't leave. After trying for 2 weeks to find the owner, she was brought in. She is a very sweet girl who has had some training. She does well on a leash, know how to sit and shake. She is best as the only dog, or one with boundaries. She does well with other pups but does guard her food and toys. Not sure what her history is but it can be worked with but maybe not fixed completely. She is a great size and has done well with strangers and kids. Not sure about cats. She is a great pup just needing a new home. She does not like storms or loud noises.
