Story
Hubert is dreamy, the way he looks at you! He is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 41 pounds. Meet Hubert, a sweet boy with a waggy tail. His cute and curious (Beagle) nature will win your heart, and his big, soft eyes will melt any worries away. Hubert may come across as a little insecure at first; he's had a rough start and is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place. We fear he may have been an outside dog based on how bad the fly bite scars are on his ears, the poor muffin. Yet Hubert is still so connecting with a playful spirit and a silly side that's just waiting to be unleashed in the right home. He is looking for a leader to help build his confidence and set limits. An active family who likes to go for walks, play or maybe go on adventures would be just perfect, Hubert would love that! Could you be the one to give this adorable boy the happiness he deserves, with an actual home to be inside and cuddling with his forever family? Hubert would like it if you came to meet him, he can’t wait for a family to love. He will need some type of containment plan due to his breed and a home where any children are at least 8 years old. If you are interested in Hubert and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
MUGSY 5 years Attributes Dog Friendly Good on car rides Medium energy Playful Snuggly House trained Will potty on leash Hi there, I'm Mugsy! For most of my life, I didn't know what it felt like to be free. I spent my days on a chain, dreaming about running, playing, and just being part of a family. But those days are behind me now — and wow, life is so good! I'm a lean, athletic guy with muscles to match my big heart. These days, I'm loving every bit of my new indoor life — soft beds, yummy food, toys galore, and a warm place to rest my head. I can't get enough of my squeaky toys, chew bones, and chasing after balls. Back scratches? Yes, please. Belly rubs? Don't stop! I also love being outside — rolling in the grass, soaking up the sunshine, and going for walks. I enjoy hanging out with my foster mom (she says I'm quite the sweetheart), but I also get along well with most other dogs. I'm still learning to share all these wonderful new things I never had before, so sometimes I can be a little protective of my toys or people. I'm working on it, I promise. What I really want is a home where I can get lots of love, attention, and exercise — somewhere I can finally feel safe, play to my heart's content, and just belong. I also would be a wonderful running or hiking buddy. If you're looking for a loyal, fun, active and loving companion who's ready to start his best chapter yet... I think we might be a perfect match! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
JAKE 5 months Attributes Working on housetraining Snuggly Will potty on leash Playful Dog friendly Good with kids over age of 4 Hi there! My name is Jake and I'm a Beagle/Basset Hound mix — that means I've got the perfect combo of floppy ears, soulful eyes, and a nose that loves to explore! I currently weigh about 25 pounds, but I'm still growing into my big paws. I'm a happy, curious pup who lives for playtime. Give me a ball, a squeaky toy, or a good chew toy, and I'll be one very busy (and very joyful) little guy. I also love zooming around the yard and wrestling with my brother — we have the best time! Oh, and if you turn on the hose - Get ready for a show! I'll bark, chase, and try to catch the water stream like it's my greatest mission in life. Meal time is my absolute favorite time of day (I mean, who doesn't love food?), and I'll wag my tail like crazy when I know it's time to eat. After all that excitement, I love curling up close to my humans for some snuggles. I'm friendly with other dogs, too, and I'd be so happy to have furry friends to romp around with. I'm looking for a loving home where I can get plenty of attention, playtime, and cuddles — and maybe a yard to run around in too! If you're ready for a loyal, silly, and affectionate puppy to join your family, I think we could be the perfect match. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
