We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Oscar is back to LDDR due to no-fault of his own. He is a lovable guy who gets along good with kids and has done well with dogs on slow intro so far. Check back soon for more information. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. April 18, 2024, 12:49 pm

Beau is about 8 years old...Beau can be a sweet dog...Beau is food xxxx@xxxx.x has full range of the house during the work day which can sometimes be as much as 12 hours (not on purpose)... I rescued Beau in November 2023...previous owner stated that he was rescued as a small pup from a puppy mill...he was being rehomed last November due to change in living arrangements... Beau will need to be the only dog...do not attempt to use a gate or crate as he knows what it looks like and will charge and nip to avoid it... Beau is great for long walks...he has walked as much as 6 miles... Beau is a creature of habit...once the routine is established, he understands and will be in compliance...to gain compliance, must use a treat to avoid aggressive behavior... Human Compatibility: Beau is good with the adult who most takes care of him...whenever I have guest, Beau is on a leash and/or contained in a separate room...

Story
Hello, my name is Polly! I am a young Beagle looking for my forever home! I am bonded with my pal, Perdita. You see, without her around, I'm a bit nervous and looking for her, so it's best us girls stick together! We are looking for an active household that will do fun things with us, and give us lots of love. We are hoping for a home where we are the only pets to get lots of love, and a fun fenced yard to run around and explore in. I also LOVE being outdoors, so a yard for me to sunbathe in will be important. I have been known to be a bit shy with new people, more so men, so this is something I may need work on. Don't worry though, I don't really have a mean bone in my body and would rather avoid scary people, though some yummy treats do help! My sis and I however LOVE children, so a home with kiddos would be fine with us! We are young, fun, happy go lucky girls, and know we will make someone very very happy!

Story
Hi, I'm Perdita, a gentle soul with a curious nose. As you can see, I am pretty tight with my bestie Polly. So tight in fact that we need to get adopted together. When we are apart we get really upset and cry and scream for each other. Its really pathetic actually but we cant help it. We are besties.Since I'm a beagle, my sense of smell is my superpower. I love exploring new scents and going on sniffing adventures. I'm sweet and friendly, always ready to greet you with a wagging tail. Though I might seem indifferent at times, it's just my laid-back nature. I promise I'm just as excited to see you. My gentle demeanor makes me a great companion for anyone. It's best I go to a home with no other animals, and a fenced yard as me and my sis love the space to sniff! If you're looking for a loyal friend who will always be there for you, then I'm your girl. Adopt me and let's start our adventure together!
