Story
Are you looking for a walking partner? Meet Violet. She is a 3yr old Beagle that loves to go on a stroll, because she needs to. Our vet listed her as obese; walking her frequently will help with her overall health, especially when she gets older. This lovely girl doesn't care for other dogs to be to close to her food bowl when she is eating, but does get along with them otherwise. She has been in a foster home where we found she is housebroken, and can walk up and down the stairs. If you are interested in meeting this sweet girl, please start with filling out an application here: www.macsshelter.org/dog-application/

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
This sweet gal was found wandering around a city dump. A stranger rescued her but could not keep her so she ended up at our shelter. She is a bit overweight but we are working on that. She has a very kind disposition and gets along with other dogs of all ages. Puppies are a bit much for her though so she would do better around older dogs. Older kids would probably be best for her also. She is housetrained and will need a little work on a leash. She does like to be around people and can be a bit talkative when left alone (she does settle down). She gets around great and her weight doesn’t stop her from jumping on a comfortable couch! She’s just an older lady needing a forever home with a laid back family… some exercise is needed but not too much. We also use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We transport every weekend alternating between the Northeast and the Midwest.

This young dog is on the lookout for his forever home, where he can bring endless joy and companionship. Oscar adores long walks, belly rubs, and cuddling on the couch. He knows basic commands and is potty trained. Please give him the chance to show you how he can be your best friend.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Story
After very much thought and consideration, Gladys (Gladdy) foster family has decided instead of keeping her it would be best for her to find a family of her own. One of the resident dogs in her current foster home has decided even though she loves Gladdy most of the time, there are certain situations that upset her which causes her to go after Gladdy and it's just not fair to her. Although her foster family's hearts are broken, they want to do what's best for her. Gladdy was found laying on the side of the road. She was scooped up by her rescuer after no one in the neighborhood recognized her. We are guessing Gladdy is American Pit Bull Terrier mixed with Basset Hound or possibly Corgi since she has such short stubby legs. She would likely be good with dog savvy cats. She is a total love bug and loves attention. She is still young and learning her manners, so kids over 5 would be best for her as she is still a little jumpy. She is also working on potty training. She loves to go for walks and human interaction. Another younger playful dog would be best for her. She is pretty athletic as well. She is very treat motivated so that makes training her that much easier. She will need heavy duty chew toys as she is still in the "puppy" stage. She has a silly goofy personality that makes her foster family laugh. Her foster family will be looking for the perfect home for her that will love her just as much as they do. Email cron_19@yahoo.com if you would like to meet Gladdy...
