In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions.We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Teddy is a loving 6½-year-old Beagle/English Bulldog mix I’ve had since he was 18 weeks old. Due to a recent divorce and working 10–16 hour days, I can no longer give him the time and attention he deserves. My priority is finding him a home where he can thrive.He’s healthy, in great shape, and his only past medical issue was an ear infection that has been fully resolved. His vaccinations are about six months overdue due to financial hardship following my divorce.Teddy is affectionate with people and does well with other animals. The only behavior to be aware of is food guarding. There have been two incidents over his lifetime where he reacted to another dog approaching his food bowl. Because of this, he should be fed separately from other pets or continue working on this behavior with training.I’d love to see him in a home with room to roam and someone who has the time to enjoy him. There is no adoption fee—I only want to find him a safe, loving, permanent home.

Rollie was surrendered after his owner died. He had never lived inside until he came into rescue. He is now house and crate trained. He does love to run and play and hide his bones outside. He had very little socialization with other dogs and is a little dog selective (prefers females more than males). He's more of a loner than most. He has always been crated inside to avoid the mischief a beagle tends to get into with chewing items he isn't supposed to be chewing. It is more for his safety of not swallowing anything harmful. He will bark to let you know when he needs to go potty. He has been completely vetted. He deserves a home of his own to retire in and enjoy the rest of his life. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions. She got spayed on June 19th and is thriving in her foster home, where she gets along wonderfully with the other dogs. Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. Heidi was a stray that wandered up to a house and wouldn't leave. After trying for 2 weeks to find the owner, she was brought in. She is a very sweet girl who has had some training. She does well on a leash, know how to sit and shake. She is best as the only dog, or one with boundaries. She does well with other pups but does guard her food and toys. Not sure what her history is but it can be worked with but maybe not fixed completely. She is a great size and has done well with strangers and kids. Not sure about cats. She is a great pup just needing a new home. She does not like storms or loud noises.
