Gemma is a very sweet and loving dog, she's still young (2 years). She has the typical Beagle and Dachshund behaviors and she gets bored so she needs an experienced adopter especially one familiar with small hunting breeds. She does not do well in the kennel and needs someone to be home during the day or a home without cats where she can be out while she's alone. We did a trial run with one family who had cats and they didn't keep her in the kennel while they were gone and had no issues, however her cats were stressed out so they weren't able to keep her, that's the reason why we're rehoming her, she needs a home without cats and we have a few. FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Introducing this sweet guy, Wishbone! He is a 1-year-old, 22lb Beagle/Mini Aussie mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter in CA. Wishbone is an awesome little guy who will make an amazing addition to any lucky household. He walks well on leash and loves to go on adventures. He is treat motivated, which will be great for training purposes. Wishbone is an active dog and will thrive in a home that can handle his energy and bounciness. He plays well with others and would be a great additional dog to a home or be fine as an only dog with continued socialization. He is a high jumper and will require a tall fence and good handling. We recommend no small children or dog-savvy children as he is still learning some manners and can be bouncy. Wishbone is so loving and has one of the softest coats and amazing eyes! Wishbone is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Animal Profile: Chai is a sweet beagle mix that was found as a baby in Del Rio, TX. We love her unique, hairless muzzle because it's a sign of all she went through. Chai was very sick with puppy strangles, but she survived and is now thriving in her foster home. She can be a little unsure about new things, but with a little help from her furry friends and foster parents, she is learning that the world is a wonderful place! Chai would do best in a home outside the city as she will be overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle. She would love her own fenced yard, and needs at least one other dog in her forever home. Foster Update: Chai is a little love bug! She quickly made friends with the resident dogs in her foster home, and will follow wherever they go. She plays with her paws like a little cat, and snuggles up like one too. Chai can be a little unsure about new places, but she has been learning that things are not so bad here in Washington. She has had a chance to explore lush green gardens, sandy beaches, and seems to enjoy a good car ride.   Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.
